Joe Cole and Anelka would score from such chances 8 or 9 times out of 10. Thats why there is a 'lets laugh at Anelka thread' on the football forum after his miss.

Rio wouldn't and Rooney's chance wasn't that easy.

On any other day, they 'would have' scored 3 goals from similar chances whereas we 'may have'.
 
Ronaldo's attitude on the pitch is no different to Rooney's and to an extent even Giggs as Crappy mentioned.

Instead of stropping on the ground, Rooney mouths off to the ref or gives away silly freekicks. Both forms of petulance are silly and unnecessary.
 
For all his pouting and hands on hips Ronaldo still remains our best chance of energising the attack and putting us on the front foot and playing the way we should be. Yes, he upset a lot of fans in the summer and some will never forgive him but he is still a United player and I for one will be supporting him while he is in a red shirt.
He is rusty as hell right now and probably even more full of himself than before which is hard to take but there is no doubt he will make us a more attack focused and potent side.
The mix up front will be interesting, but I've no doubt we will start to win games and score more goals. I'm glad the winker is back.

Assuming that the Evans inclusion was forced since Vidic was suspended and Fletch came in for Carrick, SAF played Berbatov, Neville, Hargreaves on the right wing and Park when he had Tevez, Brown, Nani and Giggs available.

There were 2 forced changes and 4 Fergie rotations bringing in new/fringe players in a big game. Rooney is blamed for not getting some of his passes spot on to players whose runs he isn't used to and doesnt really play many matches with. SAF benched our only in form attacker who scored vital goals in big games last season.

Totally agree. I have thought this for some time. Fergie even tried talking to Rooney and telling him to calm down and hold up play right before he caused the free kick.

On another day, Rio may have finished like the best striker in the world. Point is we made the opportunity :smirk:

And you'd expect Rooney to do better with the chance he had, which again 'on another day' he may have done.

None of this happened, the game could've gone either way if such and such chance was converted. They weren't. Get over it and stop being so negative FFS
 
Ronaldo's attitude is ok, he brings so much to the team when he occassionally dives it's ok imo. Here there is too much of this from posters, Ronaldo's dives, Giggs stands with his hands on his hips, Rooneys swears at the ref's, Scholes does a mis-timed tackled every match I just dn't give a shit as long as they are all great players like they are, I would'nt change them for anyone and I think their faults if you can call them that are over emphasized.

Thats what I posted too. On any other day, we may have scored a couple of more goals but they would have. ;)

TBH, I didnt expect Rooney to score from that chance. Maybe some of you have a far higher opinion of his finishing ability.

Fair enough, but they also may have screwed up... Cole might have shot at VDS who might have stayed on his feet rather than act like a clown (dunno what he was doing) while Anelka might have shot over... It doesn't matter now, case closed, game over.

Like I said, none of this happened, the game could've gone either way if such and such chance was converted. They weren't. Get over it.

9 times out of 10, it would've been a freekick to the other side for a handball. But of course you know this.
 
When Ron comes on as sub I always get the feeling that his mood is a perfect mirror image of the bench - particularly of SAF. Comes on when we're winning against Villa he's all smiles and tricks. Comes on when we're rolling and ready to chase a goal (Everton away a couple of years back, Villareal this week) and he's bouncing and raring to go.

He comes on when we're feeling a bit desperate and easily rattled, like today, and he looks - a bit desperate and easily rattled.

From a "great player" perspective it's probably the next step for him - stop reflecting the moods of his manager, teammates, fans and start changing them.
 
Ronaldo has always behaved like this, Ricardo Quaresma is exactly the same.

When he first joined the club as an 18 year old I remember on one occasion in a match at Old Trafford he threw his arms up in disgust at a certain Roy Keane after a misplaced pass from the Irishman. Away to Northampton Town in the FA Cup in 03/04 he had a temper tantrum in the middle of the opposition penalty box and stopped participating in the play after David Bellion gave the ball away.

This is his way and how he has grown up behaving right from youth level. It is all peripheral though to what matters and thats playing well and scoring goals.
