On a positive note, his issues with his first touch and weird lack of agility he struggled with at times over the last 2 years have not been present. I think he'll score goals at a high rate again when put up front.

Runs in behind are nice, but he absolutely should have taken Di Maria's pass into control. That was poor from Rooney.
Hopefully he's already done enough to deserve a PL start up top. Regardless of it being against lower league opposition, it's obvious his runs through defenders blind side and towards the flanks massively help us get the ball forward. Even if we do seem to end up passing it back to Blind eventually..

Scored a penalty against Preston. Anyone could do that against them....
Tried running past his man rather than passing back. None of our strikers have done that against anyone this season.

It wasn't a dive. The fact that he had to jump out of the way to avoid getting clattered is enough to warrant the foul. I thought that would be pretty obvious.

He could have not gone down. He also easily could have had the goalkeeper tackle him. A tackle like is always a foul if the man doesn't get the ball cleanly.

Rooney has to avoid contact there or he could get injured - doesn't make it any less of a dangerous challenge by the 'keeper and therefore doesn't make it any less of a foul

He has got better movement, and remember many saying we don't win many penaltys, well with rooney upfront his movement won us a penalty. It's interesting, seeing fellaini play off rooney, we looked a far more potent threat

Very straightforward penalty.
Goal against Preston though. If we can say the same about other players against other teams then surely the same applies here. Falcao however is a write off. Never want him playing for us again.

Actually showed pace and willingness to run.
First game up front in about 2 months, didn't pull up any trees, still won us a penalty by doing something neither Falaco nor Van Persie are capable of, and that's going past his man with ease.
Should he have made contact with his feet and risked an injury? He was clearly impeded - 100% penalty.
