Sanctions take time to take affect (watched a lot of tv yesterday as I didn’t quite understand how they work), so over time they will have an impact on Russia. With the West still wondering exactly what they can do now it's happened. Saw a former
German ambassador on Sky News say that the German government now has to rethink it's entire policy and are still in shock it happened
Putin was willing to lose a lot for a "quick" takeover. The more drawn out the worse it would be for him as he would have massive reputational damage amongst his supporters. But equally would make the West look bad if it was drawn out over weeks/months and no intervention or escalation because they'd already done it all with sanctions - so would just be them watching a few untrained Ukranian soldiers having a go with the West's weapons
This is a shit situation. I asked earlier but nobody responded (may have been buried as a lot is happening) but what happens next? Sanctions clearly won't stop Putin, do the West just watch and hope he doesn't go further?
Ahhh ok, I must have missed it.Pretty sure the answer was given yesterday? A lot of heavy vehicles meant fine radioactive soil was being kicked up and messing with sensors.
Ukraine isn’t NATO - what are you babbling on aboutNATO as toothless as expected - they're being shown up for what they truly are
No. NATO should incorporate them immediately - if they want to join. And defend them if needs be. Not pussy footing around and then leave the country to fend for itself. So NATO should just leave those Eastern European states to fall prey to a despot like Putin again? It was their own self-determination that led them to join NATO, a legacy of Russia's brutal Soviet Empire.
I dont mean on this site . God people take eveything so literally these days. The feck?
Maybe take a step back and a couple of deep breathsYou see if NATO had balls and really wanted to rid the world of Putin, now would be the time to do it. As Putin is occupied with moving

i'm good. Log off and jog on palMaybe take a step back and a couple of deep breaths
Not sure if this was posted, but the defiance in the face of death was highly commendable.
Embarrassing for Putin.
WOW!!!
Retaliation for Aeroflot being banned, I assumeRussia has banned UK airplanes from using Russian airspace. Who gives a feck, who wants to go there anyway
Aren't we paying a fortune to an army of advisers?Which is a bad joke on two fronts. We spent between 30 and 40 billion every year on our military, that's not nothing. We probably have to increase that spending, but there is really no excuse to be in this state with a budget like that, absolute none, I have no idea where the money goes but apparently not into the equipment of the soldiers, so questions have to be asked what our military spends their money on, absolute travesty.
NATO can't do anything here so they are not toothless. US and EU are definitely toothless though but it has been confirmed long time ago.
Wonder if it was too late to pull them back by the time it kicked off.I struggle with this. I feel like there was no point having 13 border guards on that island when an invasion was imminent. Ukraine should have brought them back to the mainland and join defensive operations.
Just horror all around.
Links to send wire transfers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. My bank charges a lot to do this though, more than I was gonna donate, I'd love a way to donate with Venmo or Zelle or something like that instead, if anyone has any info.

Completely rational in my opinion. They know they can do something, knew what the consequences would have and have mitigated them to the extent they can, and now they're doing it.
I wouldn't count on it for the time beingAre the Germans and Italians going to agree to the SWIFT sanctions or not?
This is going to impact everyone but they need to get with the program and stay consistent with the rest of Europe and the US.
Yeah but you’ll want to go Asia through Russian airspace.Russia has banned UK airplanes from using Russian airspace. Who gives a feck, who wants to go there anyway

Source please?Russian special ops group that broke into Kiev has been eliminated. #standwithukraine
Yeah but you’ll want to go Asia through Russian airspace.
They have some rolling military tactics where they take as much ground as possible, reinforce and plough on.
The key is being able to hold and consolidate of course but they will make quick advances due to this tactic.
Maybe I'm paranoid here, but would a western airline feel safe flying over Russia right now? Wouldn't be the first "accident".Yup.
This is fascinating to watch. I'm pretty sure I've seen the same military vehicles drive back and fourth twice now. Almost feels like they are pulling the old military parade trick of flying the same plane multiple times. (I know they're not, but this certainly isn't a one direction blitz as some would have you believe).
Edit: Well feck now the Russians noticed the camera.
Yea. I think UK, EU and US (with some other countries potentially joining too) definitely have the power to basically kill Russia economically, if we really wanted to. We would of course have to take a hit also but we are supposed to be some of the strongest countries in the world, surely we can overcome that together. A complete isolation of Russia is the only thing that can stop them and prevent something that will cost even more money inevitably.Absolutely this, Boris and Biden bumbling idiots and don't get me started on France, Germany and Italy.
