There was a recent story where they’ve tracked the movements of medical personnel of a certain hospital over the past few years which coincided with Putin’s visits to his Sochi residence and the most frequently appearing name was that of an oncologist (a specialist on thyroid cancer to be specific).
It’s important not to assume that he has one, of course, he may simply be paranoid about thyroid cancer specifically (and there are doctors of literally every speciality in this list as he clearly has very thorough check ups), but it’s something (and probably the closest we’ll get to knowing anything real about Putin’s health).
I just exist in the information bubble where everything is about the war 24/7, with new gruesome pictures, articles and videos coming up every morning, so checking on this thread as well is a bit too much for me.
I’m not in any immediate trouble at the moment, a few of my friends have been found guilty of that weird new “defamation of Russian military” thing but for them it’s been just a fine so far. It’s more the feeling of existential dread, complete powerlessness and inability to plan anything for the future. Thanks for asking though, it means a lot.
How come the Russians are allowing footage like from the meeting with Shoigu to be published? The way he's holding on to that desk looks odd from the first moment and the fact that he seems almost paralyzed from the neck down for an entire video doesn't exactly help him. Are there rumors forcing him to show himself like this to the public?

Hard to run a war when everyone is backstabbing and trying to get to the top spot though. It would be akin to The Death of Stalin. I don't see that there's any concrete succession plan or anyone who could clearly take the helm unchallenged.
Hopefully there would be an internecine gangster war, where most of them end up killing each other.

He ruled for something like 15 months, and from what I remember he was probably legally dead for 4-5 of those. While there are probably better rulers to look up to, seeing as Vlad is a dyed in the wool KGB man I can see the admiration from that side based on his tenure as head of that organization.
Although to be fair my wonder at Raoul's post was purely based on my rather lazy comparison of Putin to Andropov based on my recollection of the USSRs era of General Secretary merry-go-round in the early 80s.

Honestly these are empty threats. If they cut off the gas and oil, they'll literally collapse as a state in a single day because that accounts for 80% of their economic revenue. Europa should have gotten rid of itself of Russian natural gas and oil a long time ago, but instead our dumb leaders decided it was a bright idea to get more and more involved with a completely unreliable partner that has proven time and time again that he is completely unstable and untrustworthy.
Hopefully this shit would be the last time this happens and this time Russian gas and oil slowly, but surely, are cut off from the European/American market. If that happens in the near future, Russia won't have any power to do whatever. Ukraine, ironically, can be huge in that because they have plenty of gas and oil fields that are still undeveloped that could act as a replacement against Russian natural resources. That's partly or mostly what this war is about.

The source added that the SAS personnel are likely "co-ordinating the activities of sabotage groups" in Russian-controlled territory.

I really want to laugh hard in the face of everyone who has ever mentioned Nato as a reason for occupation and was spreading that propaganda on Putin’s behalf.
