Russian invasion of Ukraine | Fewer tweets, more discussion

Should we get worried?
Not really. International supporters long had a policy of not giving Ukraine new capabilities but just improve quantity and quality of their existing capabilities. As Ukraine has now proved to be able to hit deep inside Russia this is a sensible move that doesn't really change a lot in the grand scheme of things. But definitely helpful nonetheless as Ukraine now doesn't have to take into consideration which of it's units use Western weaponry and which uses their own old stock.

Blinken has confirmed US weapons for use inside Russia. Things should get interesting in the coming weeks.

Some US weapons, not all. ATACMS missiles for example can't be used inside Russia.

Yeah I can't imagine they would try that. They can however be used in Crimea, against the bridge and other areas.

Ugh, what's the point of all these limitations? Can't strike further than the areas close to Kharkiv, can't use ATACMS...

Compliance with INF by the West really screwed with tactical level GLCM's.

Should have done what the Russians did with Iskanders.

And everyone knew that the Iskanders official range was bullshit just to comply with the INF treaty. Western leaders have a long history of bending over to Russian lies and threaths so no surprise really how toothless they are acting now.

It's bonkers to me, holding one arm behind their back while the sharks circle.

Can just imagine a situation where they find a perfect target, only have US atcms available and have to postpone because it's 2 miles outside of the allowed region, all the while they're being genocided.

You can certainly see why certain countries smell blood and are starting to get bolder and commit more resources to Russia.

Whether it's due to Western greed & inaction or the fact that Trump has any chance is mind boggling while the alternative is likely to be in a carehome by the time his 2nd term is up.

It's genuinely a little scary.

Enjoyed this.

I think the most significant and vivid part of that op-ed is the thought of what happens when the Ukrainians become desperate. He hammers home the point that this is a war for survival of their nation and desperate people may do things we won't like.

Yeah, I didn't so much take it as a serious suggestion, but a strong example of just how serious and desperate this war is for Ukraine.

Some will say this is exaggeration and a substantial part of the population doesn't feel it's existential anymore and this is reflected in their struggle to attract new volunteers.

I am sorry, but I can't believe these numbers at all. Not even half

You are relentlessly negative about anything that might appear to be helpful or positive for Ukraine, so of course you don’t believe the numbers!

I note though, that they changed, at some point, the figures to include injuries as well as deaths, so I could just about believe it if what we hear about suicidal frontal attacks is true. I’m sure there is an element of exaggeration, it’s just establishing how much that is the problem.

You said it yourself " I am sure there is an element of exageration...". You don't believe the number either. Why then you label me as being negative if you are too?

Propaganda is in both sides

I said you were relentlessly negative, which is true!

Negative people can also be right sometimes though, and I think you may be in this case!

So instead of saying you are probably right, you decided to call I am negative.

But lets deepen on my relentlessly negative position of the conflict. I would like you to answer me if you can, please, From the scale of 1 to 10, How the expectations of Ukraine had IMPROVED from the the last year and a half since the last spring-summer offensive was expected and the almost a year without the US arm package approval?

Sorry, what?

What are you talking about? Are you drunk?

Sorry, what?

Ok,

Ill try again.

From 1 to 10 being 1 the expectations of Ukraine to beat the russians on the field substantially diminished since January 2023 when an Ukranian offensive was expected and 10 the expectations of Ukraine to beat the russians on the field substantially increased since January 2023 when an Ukranian offensive was expected
