Russia's at it again

I am not trying to claim any sort of conspiracy, or russia are innocent or any of that, but I do like evidence and truth. Despite mays outburts we are a long way from that.

She is still refusing to present evidence to the OPCW or even the European Security Council, and the longer that goes on, the more she plays into putins hands, giving him the chance to claim she has no evidence.

He’ll claim it whatever we do or say. That’s his game. The UK confirmed three days ago that it would send the sample to the OPCW so May’s not refusing anything. Jus thought I should clarify that, in the interests of evidence and truth.

No. My argument is that you don’t disarm unilaterally, not that you should never disarm. It’s just bad diplomacy.

But every decision the UK makes is gonna be a unilateral one when it comes to stuff like nukes.

Who are we in opposition with that we need to keep Trident for MAD?

We're not significant enough that we count against Russia, China, NK because the US nukes supercede our own.

Are there any official bodies, politicians, journalist, governments or anyone with a professional interest in geopolitics anywhere that would agree with the idea the world is very predictable right now? There must be some but it must be a very low number.

Yes this is true. Below is an excerpt from the UK statement to the U.N. Security Council on the 14th March.

The United Kingdom had asked OPCW to provide an independent verification of its analysis.

That Dugin fella would probably agree. Although I supposed he more mapped it rather than predicted it.

It really isn't. The world is entirely predictable right now.

International diplomacy typically moves at a deliberately glacial pace. Right now we're in a situation where China appear to be becoming expansionist and a single leader state, and we have no idea what their ultimate goals are. They're setting course for an almost inevitable collision with the US, but we don't know how far they are willing to take that. Russia meanwhile has not only invaded another country, but directly and blatantly meddled in elections in both the US and UK and now is carrying out assassinations on UK soil provoking inevitable crashes in relations. In America we have a president who may well be under the thrall of Russia and who is making bizarre foreign policy decisions seemingly on a whim, while his appointees simultanteously strip the State Department bare doing major damage to US diplomatic abilities. The UK meanwhile are leaving the EU after another election Russia meddled in, prompting the real possibility that UK influence on the world (which is not irrelevant as you seem to imagine) could be heavily damaged. The UK is a member of the security council of course, and often in opposition to Russian strategic goals.

If you think all that leaves us in a 'predictable' situation then I have no idea what to say to you.

Lay it out then. Why is it so unpredictable and how is the order clearly in flux?

How is anything that is happening right now new compared to what has happened at any time since WW2?

Well the two institutions which have underlined the post-war Western order - NATO and the EU - are currently under unprecedented pressure.

When you put it like that....

I think I'm going to build myself a bunker.

Lol WW3

Seriously, I doubt Putin would take it well. And even if someone managed to kill him it would be impossible to install a pro western leader in Russia - simply because they're not popular in Russia and there aren't many of them. What would likely happen is some one much worse than Putin would take over and start a war.

I don't know about the "start the war" part, but the rest is right on the money.

Who is that supposed to be? Haven't Russian and American command been talking with each other so they don't have a direct confrontation/contact with their respective SF?

Boris Johnson says UK has evidence of Russia stockpiling deadly nerve agent for assassinations in last ten years

Speaking to BBC's Andrew Marr show, Mr Johnson said: "We actually have evidence within the last ten years that Russia has not only been investigating the delivery of nerve agents for the purposes of assassination, but has also been creating, stockpiling, Novichok."

Strong assertions from Boris. May explain the conflicting and blustering rhetoric emanating from Russian officials.

Shouldn't we have handed that evidence over like 10 years ago to the U.N. and the people responsible for policing chemical weapons... Isn't that a massive failing for the UK... or are we supposed to not question our own failings?

He says “within” the last 10yrs not over the last 10yrs. Also “we” is most likely to mean some members of the International intelligence community.

Boris finally has a chance of salvaging some self respect and competence in this situation. With no disrespect intended for the affected people, the Tories landed a gold mine here to take the news away from Brexit and puncture Corbyn's inflating popularity.

Did you see him flapping around on the Andrew marr show trying to justify taking a 160k payment to play table tennis with a Russian ministers wife... classic Boris... aka feking useless

No but then again for the Tories he's like the step son you cannot kick out so you gotta take what you get.

Sadly as well as being that step son you describe he is also in with a shout of running the country... Truly frightening the lows we have sunk to in modern politics
At least it’s less frightening than one or two in the Labour Party who have onfortunately shown us where their true allegiances lie.

Shadow chancellor John McDonnell has gone the furthest yet of the Labour leadership team on blaming Russia for the Salisbury poisoning.

"I agree completely with the Prime Minister," he says on ITV's Peston on Sunday. "What she said is that Russia is culpable, either by direct commission - Putin's ordered this. Or they've lost control of their supplies."

McDonnell adds of Putin: "He is responsible whichever way you look at it. All the evidence points to him."
McDonnell has done well though.

2023... I'm sure trump will have used up all the stockpile by then
At the rate the Russians are going we won’t be alive to see theirs destroyed. Especially, lethal though it is, it isn’t listed in the banned substances.

You really believed that about the Russians then !!

Well we’ve had Sherlock Holmes, now it’s Poirot. I wait in eager anticipation for Columbo!

Stephanie‏ @Stephy31uk

Replying to @RussianEmbassy

The way the British government have been behaving I would not be surprized that it was an intentional move to dispose of to point fingers at Putin. I hope it back fires. Good luck with a fair election. Hope Putins win is enormous.

Ah yes. Stephanie from the UK. Definitely from the UK.

"This is an explanation for the housewives who watch your programme." Ouch.

Putin burns Megyn Kelly in the most epic manner possible. Sick burn. Say what you want, he's extremely sharp and has a good sense of humour. NBC edited the interview and did not show this part.

hmm

Proud of Nigel Farage, he speaks for people who have been denied a voice. He leads the great party and team of UKIP members.
The UK gov have egg on their faces as they flunked at their attempt to pervert the Russian election. Congrats to Putin, hope the celebration is divine and merry.

Is it just me or are these worded like a Russian would say them?
Also seen 'peoples' instead of 'people' more than once, which sounds awfully like that meerkat.
