Not sure i get the angle of your question. If you're testing those with symptoms of course you'll get some negatives but what i was specifically referring to was the benefit of positive results in non critical cases. You know once they've tested positive and done quarantine that they're good to rejoin the workforce (within a minute margin of error) and if it gets bad volunteering for care positions.

I can certainly understand why there isn't capacity to do this right now if there's a shortage in equipment though. Hopefully we can address that.

There is no guarantee that you will be one of those people who do not need treatment. COVID-19 is accompanied by serious respiratory (breathing) problems and that often requires hospitalization as opposed to "just flu". What is your "most people will not" claim based on? Do you have any data to back it up? It was anecdotal assumption some people were spreading early on, in the days of "it's just like flu", but does actually data support your claim? The crisis in Italy indicates the opposite of what you are claiming.

How old is your son? Does he have any other underlying condition? Statistically kids recover from covid19 well, nothing to worry about.

For you, I'd advise you to self isolate as well but if you must go to work, wear mask, the N95 one and gloves. Try to advoid to touch things & people as much as you can because there's high chance you'll spread the decease to others.

No, my question is how many times do you intend to test people that do not have symptoms? Being negative today doesn't mean that you will be in a month.

But you are making out that if you do get the virus, you will require hospital treatment.

Something really really stupid happened at a hospital in NI last week, which I can't go into on here, so I'm expecting the number of cases to go up significantly very soon. I hope I'm wrong though.

Due to the fast changing situation regarding Covid-19, and in line with many other universities, the University Executive has taken the decision to suspend all face to face teaching with immediate effect, until the end of the academic year. Instead, from Monday 23rd March all teaching and other learning materials will be delivered online to enable you to continue with your studies. This applies to undergraduate and taught postgraduate students.

The University is taking these steps for the health, safety and wellbeing of staff, students and the wider community. Whilst there is no expectation for students to leave the university, this transition week from face to face to online teaching provides an opportunity for you to return home should you wish, especially due to the ever changing travel situation. Students who return home will not be disadvantaged. This transition week also allows for staff to further prepare for online teaching.

So we're not gonna bother with social distancing until its too late, and now we're not going bother with testing.

Is the government plan actually to kill off most of the elderly and the weak through negligence? What is this, a purge?
 
I live in Switzerland. The offical number is just over 2000. But its likely double that at least because of who they are testing.

We added 800 cases overnight, Germany will shut the border at 8am and Austria stopped all Trains onto the Country.

We have the 4th hightest per Capita amount of cases in the world. Im sure we are immently going into an Italian style lock down in the next day or two.

I know it won't be much but do you qualify for statutory sick pay? If you are self employed and self-isolating then you qualify for contributory Employment and Support Allowance. I know its hell but do not underestimate what impact you might be having if you choose to self-isolate

There is a case highlighted in South Korea of a patient who didn't self-isolate and had the virus and is directly responsible/source of over 1000 infections.

I see the error, i misread the first scenario. I didn't mean to infer asymptomatic should be tested as well.

Interestingly the US press conference just now touched on probably the one time you will want to do it which is care workers for the elderly. The time lag offers no guarantee but it would reduce risk if done weekly.

So government can spend 10 years and lots of millions writing a report that by the time it comes out all the people responsible will be out of office and unaccountable.
 
My feeling is that the UK will start to follow the consensus soon. If you were a political strategist you’d be advising that. If the UK went it’s own way and got it wrong it would finish Boris’s government.

They can pause debt collection. So your mortgage which is due over the next 300 months would be then collected over the next 301 months. Rents a bit more complicated but it's what politicians are paid paid for.

Could I ask if you have any info on people taking Ace Inhibitors as I read a response in the BMJ stating Covid-19 possibly had a greater affect on patients prescribed these meds? Thanks

I don't know about all countries but for the most part you can go to work unless if you have flu like symptoms where you should stay at home for a while.

We are able to go to work. Home office is recommended but if not possible we can go to work. Shops (except pharmacy and grocery stores) restaurants and bars are closed, all sport centres and events cancelled, so the largest part of the population will still do their job as usual but all other gatherings are forbidden.
