SARS CoV-2 coronavirus / Covid-19 (No tin foil hat silliness please)

I'm sorry, I won't be happy if he dies, but I'm not gonna sit here send him my best wishes.

The man was happy to let thousands die to achieve herd immunity so it's quite ironic if he's one of them.

I hope it doesn't die simply it's the last thing the country needs right now, but I'm not going to suddenly forget him twiddling his fingers and allowing us to get in this situation.

That won't be a popular take but you're not wrong. The leaked stuff (of course denied) about how some pensioners may just need to die was disgraceful.

I wonder if the buffoon will still be bragging about shaking hands with everyone now? Common sense apparently wasn't as important as tradition.

It’s all about maintaining oxygenation and supply to the brain. Depending on the distance between wards it could be anything between 2-3 or even up to 10minutes (depending on organisation/ need to traverse floors etc). In this time a massive amount of damage could happen.

If you have the kit there and ready you can have him intubated in seconds, limiting the damage to a minimum.
Got it, thanks for the reply.

There has to be, but this is to be found out further down the line, right now I just pray that Boris is on the right side of whatever they are.

I'm not even that keen on the guy, but I barely slept thinking about this last night, the impact of him not making would be terrible, people are tossers who say otherwise.
If he doesn't make it, it could well have global ramifications. This could get big.

Boris is an utter twerp but the man was following the advice of Sir Patrick Vallance, and when that advice changed, his strategy for the country changed with it.

He’s got a baby on the way, I hope and I’m sure he’ll pull through.

You know on the news when they say (as they did today) that the number of deaths is expected to rise over the next few days - do they mean the number of deaths per day is expected to rise, or the total number of deaths? I assume its the former as the latter is obvious?

Do we think he actually was though, or more a case of Boris just being Boris? Wouldn't surprise me if it was the latter.

Still, doesn't matter at this stage. He's seriously ill and hopefully he'll be back to full health soon.

It doesn’t really matter whether he did or didn’t, it set an awful example and set a tone of minimisation which they‘ve found very difficult to shift since.

It's very rare for politicians to have to suffer the repercussions of their own actions in the same way normal people do.
Good point.

Mind, from a pragmatic point of view I think it's a good thing that someone like Johnson is in critical care. I think it will save lives all over the world. It's from an emotional point of view that this hurts me. I feel very sorry for the individual.

There were a lot of Twitter journalists saying there were no coronavirus patients there. Hard to know without the hospital publically confirming.

From having worked as a respiratory physio and seen people moving to and from ICU, you don’t take someone to ICU as a precaution. You do it expecting a condition to worsen, fast, in order to have all of the necessary equipment in place ready to go.

Yes I would agree but he is PM so he would have a shorter threshold
Possibly I would imagine any of a degree of tachypnea, hypoxia, acidosis and they're being cautious.
But yeah nobody goes into hospital Sunday 9 pm "routinely". Hope he pulls through.

Hope he pulls through.

Worrying is the risk of heart failure once on the recovery path, the virus is a bastard.

Denmark to start opening some parts of society from the 15th of April. Starting with everyone up to fifth grade (~650k kids) I think, and then slowly more stuff. From the 10th of May the rest of school kids go back to school.
All major summer events are cancelled though and we'll keep a lot of other things shut down until the end of August and gatherings of more than 10 people are illegal.

This is on the back of seemingly keeping the spread of the virus in check and managing the amount of patients in intensive care.

EDIT: I had some dates wrong.

Some of the replies in that are sickening. It really doesn't matter if you think he's a cnut or not. The guy is a human being with a baby on the way ffs.

When you have similar posts about the death of someone's (Guardiola) mum, then you know it's best not to read comments on social media.

You're not sorry, you're just a monumental insensitive bellend. You're welcome.

I feel like if it was at all possible they'd put out an "I'm alright video given the circumstances" video. Just writing it in tweets isn't particularly reassuring.

The responses to that tweet are just vile. Why can’t people seperate their politician opinions even when a man is potentially dying.

Probably because said politician and his party have been responsible for so many actual deaths?

Edit: I haven't clicked on the tweet and won't, nor do I wish death upon him. I'm just explaining why some may struggle to find sympathy since that's what you asked.

15th September, CPH half.... please be back to normal by then.

This whole movement to try and get things moving again seems so premature.

Absolutely no benefit reading twitter responses. It'll always be filled with cretinous idiots. Usually the vast majority on hoax accounts.

Because people are dicks, and the loudest, neediest, most self righteous tend to be among the most dickish.

I really hope he pulls through.

I'm no Boris fan but this goes way beyond politics.

The ramifications if he dies would be huge.

So am I right in thinking that there is a actual chance of the Prime Minister dying of covid 19, what a surreal thought.

Great, so we're putting them in harms way. What are we gonna do when they get sick?

From what I've seen in other countries, the police are wearing masks and gloves
Police are always in harms way. There’s been people off sick but pretty much all have come back within a week or two. Not many officers are kicking up a fuss because they’re ingrained with just getting on with shit. Regardless of guidelines there is absolutely no way officers can be sitting at home purely because they were near someone with the virus.
But yeah an officer is unlikely to spend an entire shift wearing a mask and gloves. You assess the situation, this person was just sat in a park on a bench and they kept distance. Had they been going into a house where there had been violence, you’d go in wearing gloves and a mask. You assess yourself too. Officers with asthma and health conditions have been told to work from home.

Did you just describe our PM, and more importantly a fellow human being, as "it?"

You need to take a look at yourself, not just for that, but for the sentiments in this. Not the time or the place.
