Scunthorpe United vs. Manchester United

Hernandez looks a bit shocked at how a Championship side play, all guns blazing all the time.
 
Really good game, Scunthorpe have been stern opposition and their striker is giving Rio a real test. Not been impressed by our midfield or attack, the attack's been non-existent other than Kiko's header. We should change the formation and go 4-4-2, take Owen/Hernandez off and bring on a genuine winger.
 
Give Anderson a break!

The lad has come back from a very long term injury.

Big mishmash of a half that. Two class goals but lots of square pegs in round holes. Rafaels a fecking useless left back and the two "wide" players offer nothing going forward or defending. We're almost playing with nine men. Well, eight men and one pole with hands covered in lard.

That is, in part, the fault of the midfield - which has been equally non-existent.
 
Would someone please take the defensive responsibilities off Anderson, I'd much rather see him trying to make through balls further up the pitch.
 
No support for the strikers and no closing down from midfield giving tons of space to shoot...

Too right. Im quite disappointed in Park, Owen, Macheda and Hernandez so far. It's not entirely their fault for receiving so many hopeless long balls but still, they have got to pose more of a threat than that. Scunthorpe have looked more potent than us in attack.

Gotta get control of midfield and start using the ball intelligently up front. Also we need to give Kuszczak a break. He's had to save shot after shot.
 
Owen should not be starting games for us. Sorry, but he just shouldn't. He brings very little to the table, and we have to shunt players out of position to accomadate him. Ok, we're winning but can anyone say we dominated Scunthorpe? (some might even say we are lucky to be leading).

Yes, cant be fun being a striker with this kind of support. Similar to the Rangers game....
 
This formation ain't working, Park has been poor while Owen has been almost invisible ditto for Hernandez. Sub Owen and Park off, Bring on Obertan and Bebe and revert to a 4-4-2, might not work but surely we can't be worse than how we are playing now.

Strange as I thought he was one of our better players..
 
We've got no wingers. Every time the ball is played out wide it's to a full back and there is no winger in support - because we've got 2 strikers playing in that position (sort of) and they've no idea what they're supposed to be doing. Seems to me like we're trying to give all the players who are closer to the 1st team a run out in spite of tactics and in spite of whether the position they're being asked to play in is actually doing their game/confidence any good.
 
Strange the criticism for Park and Rafael, thought they've played well myself.

The front three have all been quiet but Macheda has impressed at moments.

Formation isn't favouring anyone.
 
I've been disappointed with our wide players tonight, or more to the point the lack of them! I don't think our cmf is as bad as some ppl are making out but they have almost no movement ahead of them - everything has been far to congested in the centre of the park.

I would like to see a winger (bebe or obertan) come on for Owen or kiko just to give a option from the wings
 
I'd prefer to see Owen taken off, as I've already said, and one of Bebé or Obertan to be brought on. 4-4-2 and we'll grab a few more goals.
 
I like Ian Baraclough, doesn't take things too seriously.

Agree. We've definitely got a "you three figure it out" sort of midfield going on.
