Seattle Sounders vs Manchester United - Pre-season Friendly

 I wanted the guy on trial to score that one...I'm not sure who he is, but I'd like him to do well.

Just been watching the highlights. They were shite.

In any game with that scoreline, the team that loses will look shite in the highlights.

They weren't great but I didn't think they were much worse than our opponents in the opening game. We're just getting sharper. The first 45 minutes was fairly even and we could have conceded 2 or 3 goals if our keepers weren't on top of their game.

They were probably like league 1/2 level, but I guess their higher level of fitness led to them being dominant at certain points.

Class truly prevailed though.

only saw the 1st half so missed 6 of our goals. Seattle's fans looked like they were having a good time and their team should have had one before Owen scored on our 1st foray into their box.
at least the next game is at decent time on the east coast.

Fair enough, I didn't see the whole match, but I would say that a decent defence would have kept out pretty much all of our goals.

Their first XI wasn't shite at all, first half they were probably just about the better side. Second half they made a lot of changes, and their back up players weren't nearly as good, we also really upped our game and once the first few went in it just opened the floodgates.

Good performance by Seattle, they could have easily got nicked a few goals as it was a pretty open game.

Rooney made a big difference. Can anyone ever remember him looking this sharp in pre-season before? I'm not sure I can.

Aye he looks well on the road to being at 100% for start of the season. Only a few misplaced passes and the odd untidy touch. But then again the pitch didnt help him or anyone for it.

Our wing play was setting up nicely too, AS got caught drifting once when he got sucked in and left a wide gap out his side, but that was soon rectified. Nani tracked back well and Ando but in another good shift.

Giggs had berba's boots on aswell, some deft touches the sex little minx

The only season I remember him starting on fire is the 2006-2007 season with 2 goals vs Fulham.

The first half was excellent and I would give the upperhand to Seattle. They should of put away at least two. Hard to judge their second half and very harsh to do so when they put in youth and at least one on-trial player. But their first team had some talent and grit.

Was gutted for their second half keeper, he looked in an utter daze and pissed. Was also hoping for that on-trial kid to score. He looked so nervous - coming in straight from Africa and get thrown into a game against United must of been brilliant for him!

their first eleven are a very good attacking side.

and playing Rooney against their reserves and youth was always going to end badly for the.

a good workout for our lads all teh same. well taken goals all of them.

we are getting into stride. lets hope we stuff City in the Charity Shield.

Just saw the highlights, it looked a bit like a practice match but the main thing is the forwards are looking fit and sharp. Still not sure about that blue hoops shirt though.

The problem with the MLS teams when playing with European teams (except Everton ) is the fact they will not play defense at all unlike Chivas from Mexico which made RM look like Barcelona in possession. They need a few Italian coaches here and we will have though times in scoring but since they want to sale "soccer" as an entertainment sport they will commit suicides playing against top teams.

Ridiculous. They are mid season. They played a game 4 days ago and have another this weekend. They saw no reason to play their starters a full game, so they put in a bunch of reserves. The league has no depth because they cannot afford it, so goals were scored.

It's pretty simple.

Young looked good especially his set pieces
Anders reminds me of VDS

MLS commentators are atrocious

But they could play in the back and not open at all.

These aren't to win. You win and people say "well it was only pre-season" so why kill your guys when you have the season to play for?

The gaffer would want his players to have fun and get some experience. You don't get experience sitting behind the ball. Go out and see what it's like to play against the best. The strategy would be a lot different if it was a competitive match.
