Shanghai Shenhua vs. United [Preseason Friendly]

At what time is the game? (British time).

From my understanding Chinese people really really dislike Japanese people. You can't compare it with the English disliking the Germans.

Massive, ridiculous generalization.

That's pretty much just like thinking all the English really really dislike Germans, or that all Jews really really dislike Germans, etc. etc. etc.

No it's not. Go to mainland China and ask random Chinese people how they truly feel about the Japanese. The Chinese are hostile towards the Japanese and vice versa.

Nonsense, I've been to mainland China, twice, met a few Japanese people too along the way, no issues at all.

As I said above, that's pretty much just like thinking all the English really really dislike Germans, or that all Jews really really dislike Germans, etc. etc. etc.

In 2010 24% of Japanese students that went abroad to study chose China and that figure is climbing, wouldn't that be fecking weird if everyone hated them and vice versa?

Well this is monotonous.

Does anyone know what percentage of Japanese students that went abroad to study in 2010 chose China?

But did you ask Chinese people how they feel about Japanese people?

As a tourist and as a foreigner you won't hear the truth from Japanese and Chinese people.

I know there's a huge number of Japanese students going to China and I'm sure Chinese students going to Japan don't dislike the Japanese people, but, unfortunately, in general there's a dislike of each other.

And to go back ontopic, I hope Kagawa will receive a good reception from the Shenhua fans, but football attracts alot of nutters, so who knows what will happen.

P.S. No need to swear.

Keep believing that Unam, from personal experience I don't. But who knows, maybe you're an expert, or maybe you're a Japanese fella who hates the Chinese.

fwiw, the Japanese are the most humble, well-mannered people I've ever come across, I find it impossible to believe that a huge majority of them harbor hatred towards people they've never met.

If you want to believe that, then good, fine.

Shall we go ontopic now?

1-2 United
Drogba scoring a stunner.

I hope Shinji gets a good reception. I've heard that Chinese people hate the Japanese and vice versa.

Couldn't help myself.

Kagawasan to get his first goal for United today, cant wait for the match to start

You're being a little obtuse here. There's no reason for the Japanese to hate the Chinese. The Chinese didn't invade their country in living memory, and rape and murder millions of people.

The Japanese are certainly well-mannered, but there was nothing humble about them during WW2. They were driven by a strong conviction of racial superiority.

#MUFC XI v Shanghai: Lindegaard, Veseli, Ferdinand, Carrick, Brady, Anderson, Powell, Kagawa, Petrucci, Valencia, Macheda

No formation yet. Any guesses? Maybe Petrucci on the left and Kagawa behind Macheda?

Carrick in defence.. Why not rest the best midfielder we have and play Wooton?

Triffic midfield though. Poor Anderson will be on the left again.. but its all about getting the fatty in shape for the season.

Anderson on the wing again? Or can Petrucci play there?

I'd love to see
----------Linde
---Vaseli--Rio--Carrick
Val------------------Brady
---Andow-Petrucci-Powell
--------Kagawa
---------Kiko

but that'll never happen.

First teamers need more game time than the kids. Obviously we wanted to squeeze Powell into the midfield to get him some game time so Carrick drops back.

I get that.. more minutes is always good.. But Carrick is so important for the midfield, I want to wrap him in cotton wool even in pre-season :nervous:

Bullshit that Drogba and Anelka are out.. Would had been great for the team and Carrick spec. to get his fitness back. Tougher players give you a better test .

Also they have been part of our recent history so would had been great to face them just one more time..

No, I have to agree with Unam33 here. I work with a lot of Chinese people here at the university and there really is a lot of dislike towards the Japanese. As a tourist, you wouldn't notice these kind of things since the Chinese are not the most open people when you first meet them. These are things you only hear when you start to know them better.

I imagine it probably depends on the region you go to, but definately in Shangdong/Jiangsu region (including Shanghai) the dislike will be quite strong. Mainly because of the Nanjing massacre.

That said, I'd be surprised if you'd notice any of that during tonight's game anyway, or even when you visit China as a Japanese person. The Chinese wouldn't really openly show those kind of emotions I think.
