Shinji Kagawa | Signs for Manchester United

Does anyone else think Kagawa is more equipped to make a quick transition to the PL than Hazard? It's just a hunch, but the standard in the Bundesliga is higher I reckon, and he seems to have the right qualities

Nakata wasn't nearly as good as Kagawa.

This.

I have a German mate in my football team too (a Bayern fan) and he waxes lyrical about Kagawa. He's also the reason I'm sure the deal was done with him before he went to Japan, similar to Neuer last year he said all the people in Germany have known for quite a while about this transfer.

OK, now that Hazard's deal is sorted, it's time for us to look at Kagawa.

Mata on the left, Hazard on the left and Kagawa in the middle, not bad.

Nakata was actually an excellent player, good enough, to actually push Totti in his prime in panic mode. In fact Totti had to be given assurances that Nakata won't take his first team place.

What about Nakamura? feck me saw him bend a set of free kicks in the other night on a compilation of Japanese football.

He was such class.

Is "Kicker" reliable?
Yep, it usually doesn't get more reliable than that regarding Bundesliga football (other than official confirmations of course).

This is a brilliant deal if true, bargain if the figures quoted are true. Kagawa is an outstanding young player and I'm convinced he will perform straight away. I admit I was disappointed we didn't get Hazard yesterday, but Shinji will be an exceptional fit to our team as well.

He's much better than Naka, but feck me, Naka may just have been the best free kick taker ever

Yeah he was actually a pretty class inside forward. Mad player anyway regardless of the FK's!

For some reason this game just came into my mind. 2-2 vs Brazil. Someone just scored a thunder rocket. I think Nakamura scores a FK late. (haven't got there yet.)

edit: Oh wait it was Nakamura scores the long range bomb. cracker!
2x edit: That must mean he misses the FK at the end.. STUPID MIND.
3x edit: He hits the post with a FK at about 7mins and someone taps in the rebound.

Nakamura was class.

Funny to see them playing Brazil and managing to play much better than I have seen England play in the last 10 years.

I'm waiting til we've signed him before I watch those videos of him. Don't want to get my hopes up again :(

Doesn't sound like anything, you are probably not alone. Thee are tons of people that were turned off by his antics throughout this who debacle

There was loads to be fair but not me personally, if SAF wanted him then I wanted him, same goes with Shinji.

But, 1 of the 2 and a proper CM would be much better.

Yeah I'm kind of the same. Would have loved both but the whole saga got worse and worse as it went on. Did not paint Chelsea or Hazard in a good light. Was a bit of a farce.

Kagawa to MUFC transfer is nearly completed. fee €15m rising to €22m. Sporting director Zorc: "some details tbc". (via Kicker)

In real money that's £12m to a potential £17.6m

That's a fantastic deal given Kagawa's potential. His upside in terms of transfer fee, ability, and potential longevity at the club is similar to Evra, Park, and Vidic. A proper United transfer (if it happens).

Probably more like personal success like playing a certain amount of games and scoring a certain amount of goals for our club.

Sounds like a good and fair deal imo.

Fair as in he is worth it as a player, and it is in line with the fees of the likes of Nasri and Young. It still is a bit of a stupid situation that a player with one year left on his contract can cost such a high figure

"Kicker" refers to English sources for the fee, so the information about it is anything but reliable...

I'm in a similar boat, the way the situation went on and on just became very, very irritating and didn't show Hazard in a great way at all. That said, had we signed Hazard I'd have been delighted, but of the two I'm not at all unhappy if we get Kagawa, as he's a fabulous footballer. Both players will be great watch in the Premier League next season.

Good deal all around...although I still say SAF will have to decide how to play things as Shinji is best playing in the hole like Rooney has...Guess that would mean him playing as a CF again...Good bizness for United, you've got yourselves a terrific player

good business for Dortmund if this is true

They signed him for €350k so it's a huge profit for two years but then again he's Japanese and has a huge marketing value, also he's a very good footballer, so they could have got more than that had they given him a longer contract in the first place and didn't have to deal with one-year left situation.

Do some of you really think a player with an estimated value of 30M wanted by both Chelsea and City was ever our 1 choice?

SAF buys players with value in the market, and and based on the above this was hardly possible in terms of Hazard unless there were other underlying reasons implying that he would reject offers from them in order to sign for us. This does not seem to be the case.

Kagawa however, appears to be a good option. Both in terms of price, in relation to strengthening the team and in terms of revenue potential in Asia.

Admittedly based on limited information, he seems also to be more of a team player than Hazard. SAF seem to like this characteristic in a player, and so do I. A great individualist always represents a risk in a GREAT team.

The joy of signing Kagawa will be much greater than the loss of Hazard IMO!
