Shinji Kagawa | Signs for Manchester United

I really can't see us signing both Hazard and Kagawa. I think the delay over Hazards decision has caused us some problems. We're waiting for that decision and if Hazard goes elsewhere I think Kagawa was the 2nd option. We won't want to commit to the deal until we know if we've got Hazard. I think our recent bids for Kagawa could have been deliberately lower so we can draw out negotiations and stall for time.

Other option is that we know what Hazards answer is and we're happy to let the Gunners move for Kagawa (although I think this is unlikely)

I can also see the backlash if we sign him and City sign Hazard...budget alternative, shirt sales and etc. The usual shite.

Surely not, he's an exciting young player from a very good Borussia Dortmund side, playing a role that's been one of our weaknesses in the last few years. He'd be a big signing who happens to be cheap because of his contract situation, like Özil was for Madrid.

The guy has been doing it in what most people would agree is one of the top three leagues in Europe as well as in the Champions League. If people cant appreciate that then...

Personally I'd be delighted if we get Kagawa.

All fine points, but look -- we've put the bid in for Hazard, matched the release clause, and offered the contract. We wouldn't do that if we were only getting "budget" signings.

We would do well to get one of Kagawa or Hazard. The idea that we may get both would allow Fergie all sorts of options of mixing and matching players and formations.

talk about selection headache

It'd be great for our attacking options if we get both but with a fullback coming in and then these 2, i'd be surprised if we went out and actually added a quality CM to top it all off.

I think the fact that we've release Owen, selling Berbatov and there is no real talk of us getting a 4th striker, suggest that we maybe after both Hazard and Kagawa.

Getting both will certainly mean signing another striker is not needed.

Welcome headache.

What's a better headache:

Fitting Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez, Hazard, Kagawa, Nani, Young and Valencia into 4 or 5 positions over 10 games....

Or fitting Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Anderson (Injured), Cleverley (Injured) Fletcher (Injured) into 2 positions over 10 games....

Having talented players all working hard to be selected is never an issue.

Not surprised to see Hazard getting very overrated compared to Kagawa. Kagawa, a bit like Scholes, is too much about beeing effective and creating results to get the praise a flashy player like Hazard do.

Almost surprised to see that people actually feel Hazard is a must for our club, though. He is one of the most talented players in Europe, but we have several talented players in his position. But unless we manage to bring in a quality cm we will struggle to bring the best out of our attackers, whether it is Kagawa, Hazard, Nani, Valencia or Rooney. And that should be our biggest worry.

Kagawa won't make it at that rainy day at Stokes...

Augsburg (probably an equivalent to Stokes) got him out of the way with man coverage... - in my eyes he will not fit into the PL. He is about the worst in the Bundesliga on his position when it comes to man-against-man fights, does not do much sprints and actually lives a lot of a system of Dortmund where everybody is in moves and runs his ass off only once a week. He would not make a cut at Bayern - against the opponents we usually have that are very well in defense. I do not think the opponents Man Utd faces are very different.

In that Augsburg game, he was man-marked by Hajime Hosogai, who knows him inside-out. Kagawa might not be the strongest guy, but he doesn't need to be. He drifts into space from time to time, and always gets away from his marker by his great "touch and turn".

Surely he needs time to settle in the Premiership, but I think he really suits our style.

If we don't get him, he would seem ideal for Arsenal.

and arsenal have a bid accepted and are discussing personal terms with kagawa's agent. again I dont know if it's 100% true but I guess next week will be very telling.

it's a not a news story otherwise it would have been in here already. You can PM me about it if you like.

Although, I just heard from a gooner that he really doubts kagawa is going to arsenal. Said congrats in advance

United are swapping Rooney for Messi and that's what's holding the Kagawa and Hazard deals up; they've both been offered lucrative contracts but each have demanded proof of Messi's signature before they'll commit their own. This isn't a news story, you can PM me if you like. A Villla fan just said congrats on Messi to me

 feck you cider

I was hoping the Kagawa deal would have been wrapped up by now, wasn't he in Manchester last week? Any idea why the hold up?

Dortmund are probably playing hard ball, and there is the little matter of awaiting Hazard's decision if reports are to be believe that we have bid and offered terms for him

anyone else think Kagawa is a better fit for United than Hazard?

when I've seen any of the stats about his positional play Kagawa plays as a deep number 10, as an attacking midfielder

if we sign Hazard I can only think that Nani is on his way which I will be gutted about

Hazard comes across as a bit self obsessed - I havent seen much but cutting it in the French league isn't the same as cutting it in the Premier League - I hope we keep Nani
