Shinji Kagawa

Games like this highlight why people have so much hope for him; he is so much more comfortable on the ball than half our team.

Yeah, pretty much our only good attacking player tonight. Fair play to the lad.

He's always been very good defensively IMO - he's shown it clearly against Bayern Munich in both games against them for us. He's looked like our best player under pressure (Welbeck behind him).

Need him on the ball more, he's played the right pass almost every time. Has a brilliant first touch too. Also defended really well, like usual.

Well anyone who says "doesn't track back so that's why Young is playing" can be discounted from serious discussion in the future. Mind you, this is just what he used to be capable of for Dortmund.

Now he just needs 3 other players around him who are just as comfortable in tight spaces.

Nani, rvp, welbeck, mata, Rooney, januzaj....
It's the midfield duo behind the 4 attackers that are the problem.

Much more than half of that team tonight. But there are a few more in the squad, sure.

I think we have loads of players who could be comfortable on the ball in tight spaces but they don't have the confidence, we've always played an expansive game using width. Kagawa has been coached for close quarter play, our coaches need to do this with other players. Its also painfully evident we need to learn how to play out from the back, a ball playing CB is a must.

He looked so good taking the ball in tight spaces and moving forward. One of our better players.

Hopefully this game & the remainder of the season shows what he can do when given the chance to play and we don't sell him in the summer.

We need to build the team around him and Mata next year. Mata behind Rooney and Kagawa cutting in from the left.

With a couple of more Kagawas, we might actually have won today. Rooney and Welbeck were shocking offensively. Kagawa managed to do twice as much, while defending against Robben and Lahm.

He is a better footballer than Wayne 'GET HIM FIT FOR INTERGALACTICAL GAME X' Roonay.

He was very good tonight. He's definitely upped his game and shown the excuses made for him were silly. He can easily play wide if he is getting involved.

Think it's safe to say he ain't going anywhere. Moyes would never sell a player who can put in a shift like that.

Well hopefully Moyes will continue playing him as he has done in recent weeks and we won't lose him in the summer..

Thought he played really well today as well as destroy the myth that he can't defend!! Too bad he lost his record of not losing to Bayern..

It was typical that he kept possession against 3 Bayern player and then passes to Valencia who can't do anything and gives it away immediately

My only complaint against him is that he sometimes is a bit too slow to switch the play, and we end up getting bogged down in an area of the pitch because of it... but really, he was definitely one of our better players tonight.

He was great tonight. Always kept the possession and did his defensive duty. Why doesn't he play every week again?

He did an excellent job tonight, all he could have been asked to do and a bit more. Also put that nonsense about not defending to bed

Last few games he's finally showing what he's worth. Wish he'd started doing it regularly earlier in the season.

It is strange when he actually has the confidence of his manager and he suddenly starts playing better. Who would have thought?

Did a good job tonight, shame the two around him had the first touch of rapists tonight otherwise we could have had a real chance.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand we're gonna lose in the summer

Shinji was a phenomenon tonight. Heroic display despite barbaric hoofball tactics, and a scintillating effort covering for a fullback 4 years past it at the top level.

I think he's our second best player at the moment to Mata. Him and Mata should be automatic starters, every game.

It was rammed down anyone who would listen and some who wouldn't that he was playing shite because of his position. That's been shown to be nonsense. Hopefully he keeps up the form he's shown the past few weeks.

For a little guy he has surprisingly good ability to get his head on balls and knock them forward. As someone's already mentioned, he was one of a handful of players tonight who kept his head when pressed. Rock solid performance from him tonight, did everything he needed to defensively and got us forward when we needed to. Unfortunately, Rooney was woeful tonight or he could have put us ahead.

That's all very well, unfortunately we've an inept manager.

Yeah, he should have been an automatic starter for quite some time, unfortunately. I'm warming to Moyes in the last month but he needs to keep doing Positive things, such as playing Shinji
