I am awaiting the first interview to find out whether someone else was interested, then I will judge this transfer.

I'm very excited by this signing. Granted I've only seen him play 7 or 8 times this season, but he looks exactly the kind of player I feel we did lack in attack at times last season, the unpredictable element of player who can run with the ball and shoot or pass it on to somebody else. Plus my Dortmund supporting friend absolutely raves about this guy, and I have generally found him to be one of my more intelligent footballing mates over the years.

I've just watched one of the videos on the Daily Mail website - every goal and assist from last season - and one thing that stood out for me was that he makes things happen at critical times. So many times throughout that video he either scored or made a goal with the scores level. That can only be a good thing.

Congratulations on the signing, he's a gem of a player...Lot of potential to add a very lethal contribution to the attack...Mentioned this before when it was still rumoured, I like the move for Kagawa better than had United landed Hazard...The fit will be better, I believe, and it did not have to break the bank allowing for continued fortificationAnd the truth is, I'm very curious to see how he can elevate his own game too because it's clear there's a tiger of a player in there

For those less than ecstatic, I suggest paying closer attention to players when you scout them in matches - the headline players are not always the prize

Good point, that. It looks as if we would have signed Kagawa anyway so had we signed Hazard also that may have been our spending finished in terms of signing established players.

Now that we just have Kagawa (and at a good price by all accounts) maybe Fergie will be tempted to go and improve the base of our midfield which is where we need it the most, in my opinion.

Put it this way, I'm more than happy with an attack of Rooney, Welbeck, Nani, Valencia, Young, Kagawa and Hernandez. Spending 30+ adding Hazard to that would have been exciting but probably not the best use of the money.

Great deal for Dortmund, great deal for us, just a great deal all around. Very excited about this signing, he looks like our kind of player.

Wouldn't mind seeing Etienne Capoué at United

That's how you assess a transfer? :wenger:

At least know this, Dortmund had no wish to see the player go...It's a loss for them even if they profited nicely in terms of the bottom line

It's a joke from the old thread.

Your entire judgement of the players ability will come down to other clubs potential interest?

Sounds a good signing, hopefully he does well here. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do in pre-season now.

Brilliant signing ! I was hoping for this to happen the moment we got linked to him few months back. He will surely provide us with a lot more option and with a relatively low transfer fee people won't be so quick to put pressure on him after a few bad games.

great news.

ability-wise he's a very good signing. but i like how the transfer was conducted. no media whoring, no unnecessary drama.

Happy i am.

Yes indeed! Players who are touting for high wages and shopping around in high profile are not United quality! I am so pleased with this signing. Thank god we didn't end up signing the other one.

I hate early signings. Now we must wait the whole summer to see him in our shirt.

I've seen close to nothing of either but from all accounts Gotze seems to be thought of as the type of talent Fabregas and Rooney were at the same age. Never seen that kind if plaudits for Kagawa despite being older.

That's just a response to the above few posts. Not representative of my attitude towards this signing. My feeling is signing a star player of the back to back German champions for under 20 million is a great piece if business.

He definitely offers something different to our attack, and at the same time suit to our counter attack play. More variations also means more difficult to defend against. Exciting times ahead indeed.

Statistically Kagawa is better. Only thing Goetze beat Kagawa in last season was key passes per game. However he's significantly younger

Statistics aside, whenever I watched Dortmund last season (their CL/Europa campaign and one or two league games) I was expecting Goetze to be the star (because of all the hype) but it was Kagawa who stole the show.

have fun on the bench in Macnhester Kagawa! Talking about how much you love your fans and thn leaving without a fukcing word!!! You are the worst. Sure hope u'll just end up like Nuri Sahin!
Oh well ~ good thing is now BxB has one less bril player which'll hopefully make it easier for Schalke nxt season xD

A German girl I knew from 6th form, bitter much? To be fair she has been practically in love with him all season and I think she's actually met him a few times.

Dortmund fans are passionate in general and understandably upset, I've read about this particularly because Kagawa really bonded with the fans and previously professed a desire to build on the project there...But this happens everytime a player heads off to a bigger club

Götze missed many games due to injury, Kagawa played a lot more last season, over twice as many minutes as Götze in the Bundesliga.

It will be a big success for Kagawa if he manages to establish himself as a regular starter for United. It won't be easy for him but he is still young and could progress a lot in his development as a player.

If we use him behind the striker or on the left, he will have the difficult task to displace Welbs or, respectively Nani, T. Val, Young.

Kagawa kagawa wherever you may be, Glad you fancy history, could be worse, could be French, sitting with Nasri on City's bench!

Just wish the Kagawa bit sounded better!!! :(

I'm talking about goals per game, average passing accuracy, shots per game, dribbles per game, amount of times they lose the ball per game on average and so on. So using the games he did play, not overall where the amount of games would be too significant.

Kagawa missed as much as 5 months with injury so had to come back from it in order to get his numbers. That'd be more harsh on your stats per game than being out for the season

The formation we could play would see a lot of inter-changing between the forward players all over the final 3rd of the pitch, which would confuse the opposition.

Exciting times indeed :D

I've had my eye on Kagawa since 11pm yesterday, but didn't want to post about him until my elite sources gave the ok. In light of my insider knowledge, I hope I'm going to get a special tagline, avatar, admin status and an OBE.

Yeah, I read that the Japanese baseball players bring a lot of money to MLB teams. Hope Kagawa is similar.

Nice deal. Im looking forward to see him play with us

Welcome Shinji. I've written a song for you.

Ooh aah, Shinji Kagawa
Ooh aah, Shinji Kagawa
Ooh aah, Shinji Kagawa
Ooh aah, Shinji Kagawa

I'm so glad you signed because I've been working on those lyrics for two months.

This is such a quality signing. Can't wait to see him play for us.
