Shinji Kagawa

Hopefully Shinji will be on the bench for the west brom match. Knee injuries are tricky but I think he has had almost 3 months off and right now we are shockingly short of options yet again.

Hopefully. :D We could do with the lad back ASAP to plug the gap now left by Rooney.

Trying to find out when Kagawa will be available, even if off subs' bench.

Does anyone have any idea? Fergie didn't even mention him in the press conference before Newcastle, and I assume none of the dumbass reporters even asked?

Surprised he starts, I would expect us to give him 10-20 minutes first, considering how carefull we were with returning players after injury.

Great to see him back, if he , Cleverley and Welbeck can click on some way or another, it'd be great experience to help them along in their form, especially Kagawa.

He oozes class.

He and Cleverley have a good understanding, can't wait to see him with RVP.

The football he, Cleverley, Anderson and Nani would be capable of, to name but a few, would be erection-inducing.

Carrick? Anderson is massively overrated on here.

Nice half from Kags, he has that ability to play in tight spaces that we seem to lack. He links up very well with Cleverley.

So good to have him back.. I want to see this "front six" from now on:

---- Carrick - Cleverley ----
- Young - Kagawa - Rooney -
------------ RvP -----------

It's the opposite really. You would think that he's some pub footballer reading some of the comments. Watch the first half of last season when he, Cleverley, Welbeck, Rooney and Nani was buzzing around all over the place.

That ball to Valencia was so great, it looked like he had overhit it but it slowed down perfectly.

Yup. Thought the same, perfectly weighted pass.

He likes to get involved that's for sure, quite often you see him as our last midfielder taking the ball from our defenders.

He really is class. Has to drop too deep to get involved though. Need to get him on the ball more often right at the edge of the box. Behind the striker really is his best position.

Very harsh on Rooney, he's far better centrally.

His absence was keenly felt today. As soon as he went off it all went downhill...

Same happened against Spurs too. Although, since this was his first game for a few months I could understand the substitution.

Right decision to take him off I thought, he was great first half but our central midfield got flodded second half which meant he didn't have a chance to really get the ball played to his feet.

Just effortlessly classy on the ball. He's easily at his most effective in that central attacking area. The more touches he get's of the ball, the better our overall play will be.

Now that he's back I can't wait to see him link up with our other attackers. We'll tear teams apart.

Someone beside me claimed he shouldn't be playing behind the striker as all he does is pass backwards. One even called him a big time Charlie earlier in the season .I thought he did well today. Football fans are idiots.

He's forced to pass back a lot of the time when our midfield is static, when Cleverley is playing it gives him far more options and more space.

I think one of the best things he brings is ability to pick up the ball and turn towards the opposition goal. Too often when Rooney is there he doesn't seem willing to turn nor control the ball as well and usually goes for a half turn and then long ball out wide.

You could really see the difference in quality in our play, when he went off. It almost instantly decreased.

Felt like he was the only player able to get the ball under control and not lose it in the second half till RVP came on and did a similar job

Looked a breath of fresh air for us today his control and speed of thought is going to be a big asset for us in the future.

our only player who is low on gravity and capable of twisting and turning his marker with ease. something players like david silva or santi are doing for their team.

hope he can stay fit and get back to good form as well.

Argh! I missed the first half. Only saw the second where our lads seemed to have trouble finding him, despite the fact he was open on numerous occasions! Valencia and Young were especially guilty of this as well as Vidic. no bother. I'll rewatch the first half with glee.

Swap Nani with Young, and considering that front four can chance positions, I am with you too.

Valencia on form before Young too.

Based on the comments so far, it seems we could have a potential selection headache between Shinji and Rooney in that position. Who would you rather have going out wide? Rooney or Kagawa? For me it's Wayne. No one offers what Kagawa can in the middle and it's not like they wouldn't interchange throughout the match.
