Starting to look like a proper player for us now. His on the ball play is muct better, and he doesn't get bullied as easily.
I hope we can keep him in the summer. Playing him a lot now towards the end of the season might go a long way in ensuring that.

I know it was dead rubber meaningless game, but United look more like a competent technical half decent European side when Kagawa and Mata play ,rather then the brainless tumescent stuff that United have put out all season.
Even If Moyes picks Kagawa on Wednesday, with no Mata, Van Persie and possibly Rooney, Kagawa will have to elevate his performances beyond the shite(Valencia, Young) or inexperience (Januzaj) that may surround him on Wednesdays. And I'm not sure he is the kind of player to do that.I just prey that Kagawa does not give Moyes the excuse to finally bury him.

I didn't think that he was going to make it here and was going to request Damien a username change. Has looked more and more comfortable in the last few games. Has dealt better with the physicality and also hasn't looked knackered half way through. Needs to do it consistently and against better opposition. Still may have a chance.
Can someone make a gif of that backheel by Kagawa to Nani right at the end of the match? I'm certain it was Kagawa who did that
Wonderful player, took a while to get going today but even when he's not prominent in the game he still provides on option for a pass off the ball, makes good runs and has wonderful weight and timing on all his passes. Makes the game look so easy and effortless.
Kagawa is used to playing with the likes of Gotze and Sahin which like to play quick passing football and last season he wasn't getting that with Valencia and Young. Only when you play him with the similar players we now have in Mata and Januzaj can we get the best out of him.

These Kagawa match compilators need a life. They're good, but they're worryingly quick.14 minutes of a match compilation is quite good. He had the most touches and passes in our team today as well apparently with 89% passing.
You can just tell when he plays though how he links the midfield with the attacking line. I just really hope he'll start the next game and then be here next season as he can and should be a key player for us.

agree with all this. looks to have more fire in his belly for about a month now. who knows what has changed but he's a lot better for me, more direct and confident like we saw at dortmund. could be the synergy of some different players around, like fletch and mata. people like to claim that moyes doesn't rate him etc but personally i think he does

One of the best performances by him by far this season. Just to see him link up so well with Mata and Januzaj, and picking up Chicharito ahead, it was pure joy to watch. Also I was impressed about his reaction on Mata's second goal because I know a lot of players would have tried hitting that ball to shake monkeys off their backs instead of letting it go a teammate in a better scoring position. As people already mentioned, he was much more solid on his feet so it can only get better as long as he gets the nod.

When do we ever have our left/right midfielder make the most passes on the pitch? It was like the usual Silva performance.
Interestingly he made more passes and had more touches than Silva did today, but with Silva creating more chances and against a far better team. Silva is a better player, I just thought it was worth mentioning to give Shinji his dues after an influencial performance.

Worth mentioning though that Silva plays in front of a more settled and physically dominant central midfield.

He's obviously never going to thrive in a lineup that includes one of Valencia or Young, as all they do is put in pointless crosses into oblivion. He looks at home with Mata, Januzaj, Rooney and Nani because they're players that actually want to play football. It was never really rocket science why he has struggled so much, even under SAF.
Who does the compilation? Is it somebody from Japan, because it's dedication doing the compilation at 4am!
Circumstances being that he was showing flashes, but being bullied too easily, as he himself admitted. That forced Moyes hand to get him to build his strength on the ball. Great result all round for Manchester United
Aye. He may very well have started that kind of training but I wouldn't recognize it as a reason not to play him. If we had better players replacing him it would be different. Of course he can improve and adapt better to the league, but our team needs to adapt to players like him too, and he offers too much to not play.
If we're talking of players who are too physically weak at times I'd mention Januzaj. He really could do with a summer of the Ronaldo boot camp and I kind of expect him to. Mind, I'd still play him of course.
From Moyes' smile and suggestion we will see a lot more of Kagawa between now and the end of the season first gave me the thought he was doing physically intense training. Especially considering his inability in the summer just gone due to international commitments and this summer too.

Moyes probably won't start him if Rooney is available, but if he's out maybe he'll go with Welbeck up top and give Kagawa a start somewhere.
I thought he was the best player on the pitch today. When Fellaini went off and Kagawa and Mata dropped deeper, it was Kagawa who was controlling proceedings. He looked like a minor Scholes at times, receiving the ball and turning in space with it. Again, I feel it was Fletcher who allowed both Kagawa and Mata to express themselves. There were no stupid balls out wide every time, nor anything to audacious, just simple little balls through the lines to their feet.
Kagawa's recent performances should have done enough to shelve any plans we had to sell him in my opinion.

kagawa has to start in munich. happens 2 or 3 times already this season with shinji, one good game and then get dropped by moyesey. this has to stop.
Kagawa gets dropped because his lack of physical strength and defensive ability against certain opponents. I think he'll probably play in Munich because we'll spend so much of the game penned back that he'll spend the majority of the match facing the play. His shortcomings won't be as exposed, just like they weren't for Buttner in the first leg. In that situation I think he could be the ideal player for us. I'm hoping for a big game from him.
I think he should play against Bayern. I was thinking of it this way - if Mata wasn't cup tied, would he start the game? I'm pretty confident he would. So if he would, why not Kagawa? They're possibly the most similar pair of players we have in our squad. I think we will need to score a couple of goals to have a chance of going through and he's a player who can really hurt them on the counter

Kagawa is as good on the ball, and better off it imo (better presser, takler) - Mata is a better goalscorer and of course betterwith the dead ball.
He started playing quite well before Mata was signed and then immediately was benched for a few games, so the opposite is true. He's played more because Adnan has dropped off a bit and the injury to RVP.

I thought he was better than Mata tbh. Mata got the 2 goals and assists but I thought Kagawa was more influential throughout.

Young is significantly more defensively disciplined than Kagawa. For Bayern's goal, look at how far Shinji backed off without making a challenge or showing the winger away from the box.
It was generally a good game for Kagawa on Tuesday, but pointing out why he's not perfect for every situation doesn't mean I think he's shit. It's a positive that Young offers something different even though he isn't flavour of the month on the caf.
Pretty much this. I don't know where people get this idea that Mata is way beyond Kagawa level as if we're comparing Messi to Young
Like you say Kagawa is just as good on the ball as Mata. They are as similar as they come. This strength and defensive duty argument doesn't hold much water. It's not like our other attacking options are pulling defensive master class that Kagawa wouldn't be able to do. And this idea of Kagawa being a liability defensively is just a myth that some people like throwing out there for some reasons.
Moyes really has to cut this nonsense of dropping Kagawa whevnever he feels like it. When he plays well a player has to be rewarded, not dropped for players who've been underperforming week in week out. If Moyes was fair to Kagawa he would have kicked on the season and found his feet a long time ago. Had Moyes let Kagawa get game time after his performance against Leverkuson back in 2013 he'd game kicked on from there, but Moyes decided to drop him after a couple of games. Same story with the Swansea game, and Sunderland game. Moyes just unfairly refuse to let him get a run which is completely uinfair and not funny,
And so far he keeps doing the same crap. Even now he keeps being dropped after good performances. Perform against WH, dropped against city. Perform against Villa, dropped against Bayern. And now I'm expecting him to get dropped against Bayern in the second leg and only come on as a sub if he's lucky
Kagawa may have been very good in Germany, but his record compared to Mata's in England and in Europe is miles behind.
