Build the team around a player who is wildly inconsistent, whos bottom level is so dire he shouldnt even be on the bench, and whos agent would gladly move him on every summer for a big payday? Who along with De Gea was the reason we didnt get top 4 the season Ole was appointed and has done absolutely nothing to warrant having team built around him? We should not CONSIDER selling him, we should actively be making every possible effort to do so.

I think I’m starting to come to terms with it’s just hasn’t happened here and it probably won’t. Be it tactics, quality in the team, his own lack of intensity or something else just doesn’t look like it will happen or that there is really a space for him in the team.
It seems wild because he has almost every physical attribute you would want in a midfielder and on top of that he is blessed with unreal ability on the ball and can pick and execute some unreal passes but he doesn’t have the consistency and his defensive focus is basically non existent. He should be the best midfielder on the planet but he just isn’t and doesn’t look like he will ever be.

No idea. Figure of speach, point being that the economical aspect of players contracts is obviously relevant when making decisions on who to keep and who to sell.

I think it might be useful to channel that poster's enthusiasm into some extra Pogba sale value. Should the possibility ever arise, that is. Not that we'd ever want to sell him. Never.

He didn’t have the benefit of players being moved and systems being changed to accommodate him. He had to try his best to make it work in a 442, competing With 2 of the best midfielders the EPL has had.

Yes you are right and I agree with playing them for the balance of the team. It's just that the talent of Bruno and Pogba behind a quality front 3, how are we not keeping teams on the ropes. It's so frustating at times. Pogba is a hard player to fit in, because of his lack of discipline going backwards.
Hes been here a few years now and its just not happening. Is that his fault? Maybe, but its hard to deny that there is a coaching issue at the club. All of our players have looked suspect, and theres more than a few examples of really, really poor passing that have been going on through the tenures of LVG and Jose as well. So its something thats been going on for awhile. Id be more inclined to clear out the coaching staff before making any huge decisions about players. The only real reason to sell Pogba is to fund the transfer budget, but that doesnt seem to be where that money would be going, so why bother?
IMO, we should consider selling him only after we have replaced the coaching staff and seen a marked improvement in everyone else. Pogba hasnt fulfilled his potential, but hes not the only problem at United currently, and its hard to say what might happen if we can finally start getting the coaching right.

Pogba just isn’t consistent at all and it’s time to move him on. He won’t be happy not starting every match and his performances don’t warrant it. Not to mention he openly talks about other clubs etc.
He hasn’t worked out playing under 2 managers, different positions and different formations, over 4 years at the club. Really hope we don’t have yet another manager spending years trying to get the best out of him.

Hopefully he will be offloaded in the summer to Real or Juventus. Bruno fernandes is everything that we wanted Pogba to be when he joined Utd again, but it didnt work out.
Sell ASAP. Buy a top class CB and DM with the money.
Our strategy must be built around Bruno, who is about the only consistent and dedicated player. Fred + McTom are the only pairing the bring the best out of Bruno. I am not writing Pogba off, but his playing style, as well as heart, seem to be incompatible with Bruno. So only remaining question is, how much.

It's clear that going forward he won't be anything bar a bench option for us. Ole has tried different combination for midfield and still Fred, Scott and Bruno gives him the most balance and best results.

Seems every international window, talking shit through and to someone. Sell the liability, Bruno has shown Paul up so bad. Not worked out, sell players that want out. Hardly a big loss, he's been so inconsistent since he came.
But the thing is if he starts performing again everyone will want him to stay.
Its a bit like Ronaldo. If he wants to leave, let him. If he wants to stay then great. The one thing that Deschamps might have got right is the covid thing. Maybe he hasn't fully recovered? Either way, to get back into the starting XI his performances must improve. The times he has come on he hasn't been that effective. He can't shoot and he can't defend, he is literally a quarter back. If he gets closed down he is easy to nullify and opposition managers know it. When he does play well he is glorious to watch. City away from home is one game he demonstrated his ability. Since then he has been OK mostly with some decent displays here and there. Thats not good enough for a player that wants to consider himself an elite footballer, no matter what football club or manager they play for. If he could consistently display the kind of form that makes us all realise he has world class ability then he could easily be a Balon D'Or nominee, if not winner, but consistency just isn't there, and Man Utd need players that are consistent.

Exactly why I wanted him sold in the summer. Imagine how a proper winger could elevate us, and here we are, playing Mata on the wing in 2020.

He‘s a luxury player, a bit like Özil - except the latter was one of the most productive creative midfielders Real Madrid ever had during his golden years there, more productivity than Pogba has ever managed anywhere.

I would expect if he decided to stay we might see an improvement in his performances. Thats where that comment came from. I think if he did decide to stay he should expect a pay cut in his next contract because like you said he isn't living up to the hype.

We’ve got Fernandes and Van de Beek now as creative midfielders so I’d happily let Pogba go if we got our money back and used it towards someone in the same ilk as McTominay and Fred but obviously an upgrade or has potential to be world class, Camavinga or Zakaria maybe ?

Am I missing something here? Everything @el3mel said is true. Pogba has been here four years, was our biggest signing ever and still finds himself on the bench. It clearly hasn't gone as planned.

I've enjoyed Paul's peak moments thoroughly, his creative long passes, amazing close control, shielding and dribbling, but reluctantly am coming to the conclusion it would be better mutually for him to find somewhere where he can realise his full potential consistently.
A footballer's career is short and although he's won a WC medal and Europas League too, his cupboard is bare for one with such talent. He needs to find somewhere to prosper, we need to replace him.

Why have you omitted all those trophies he won with Juve, where he was the most important player and carried them to a CL final as well? No doubt going to win at least a dozen more trophies after he leaves too.
Far in the future, people won't question Paul's credentials because his heroics in Serie A and his leadership in French NT speak for themselves... They'll only question his naive decision to spend his prime with mediocre United side.

No, it won't. Because the height of Pogba isn't as good as the height of Bruno, and the consistency of Pogba is not comparable to that of Bruno.
Pogba is Pogba and he was never that good, whether the forum wants to have a big love fest about him or not. Extremely talented player, but not a top class player. Charrager was spot on about him
He doesn’t fit the team philosophy and hasn’t got the work rate to be a top United player sadly. He’s had plenty of chances and right now he doesn’t benefit the team except for coming on as an impact sub. I’d be happy for him to be sold as we can still get a big fee and use that for a player like Grealish.
In a post covid world I’m not sure the money offered would come close to tempting Woody and Co.

I’ve never seen a player have more excuses made for them than Pogba. I’m not a “Pogba hater” by any means but his super fans just annoy me with the constant excuses for 5 years of inconsistency.
