We just give contracts out to everybody under the guise of “protecting their market value” when in reality we just price them out of an transfer. Ridiculous strategy from the bean counters.
As for Pogba’s best position, from what I’ve seen this season it’s easily on the bench, coming on for last few mins to see a game out by holding the ball up in the corner. He’s quite good at that.

Ive always been a pogba fan, and always felt we are a better team when he plays and he plays well...over the past 12 months my feelings are changing, and following his latest comments away on international duty again...well he can go for me.

I agree it's getting really hard to find a rationale for keeping him. It seems increasingly clear he isn't going to do well either as a holding midfielder, or as a box-to-box player. And the No 10 role belongs to Bruno. That seems to require us to play 4-1-4-1 in order to utilise him well, but that simply doesn't appear feasible without a holding midfielder who can offer better protection than we have now, and/or a central defence less in need of protection.
While I agree it's a questionable approach to consistently re-sign players even if you plan to move them, I think that's probably a more justified approach with Pogba than with, say, Phil Jones. If he moves, it's unlikely it would be to a club with a much more restricted wage structure.

Give him a 5 year deal then send him out on loan to Juventus for a year, then watch him explode there and then sell him to PSG year later for 100 million.
I've no doubt Pogba will put in some world class performances again here soon, but he can't be trusted to be a first XI player anymore.

In the context of discussing our current manager's authority (in relation to Pogba), it seems relevant that the previous manager felt he had no authority over this player (so why could Ole?)
Again, I simple asked if anyone could clarify what Jose said as I couldn't remember all the detail.

Ole has dropped Pogba plenty of times already this season means Pogba is touchable and the manager has authority to drop him. Don't worry about what Jose said.
Some people have this weird belief that Jose got fired because he dared to bench Pogba. Like all the bad results had little to do with it.

I think the issue is to do a deal with Real or Juve a player will likely have to come the other way and that can be complicated, PSG are the only team I can see paying for him outright.
The biggest difference between Ole and Jose, which even the board and most ardent of Ole haters will recognise, is that ultimately Ole knows this is his one opportunity at managing a big club and he is going to live or die with his success at Utd. So what's best for Utd is what's best for Ole.
With Jose, we knew he was more worried about his own brand and what was best for Utd was not necessarily best for Jose, so there was this element of mistrust in his treatment of our most talented players like Pogba, Martial, Rashford etc. He wanted players who would win him a trophy immediately because even he openly admitted he didn't see himself staying long term at a club. So everyone was mistrustful of him wanting to sell our talented players for seasoned campaigners who might win him something in the short term but our long term future may be compromised, because Jose wasn't going to stick around that long.

Stay on the bench, let players like Bruno and Donny play. Tell Pogba and his agent Manutd are happy to let go of him in January, £70m the fee, go and find a suitor. Until then, train and act professionally.
Yes, PSG is the only club that might pay for him. Problem is his salary. Are they willing to pay 300,000+. I don't think so.
Two real options are:
1. He will leave in summer of 2022 for free.
2. Ed is total idiot and will give him 4+ year contract and instantly create our own version of Ozil (talented, potential, huge wages, generational talent, blah blah.. - just no room in starting 11)
Not really bothered about this saga anymore. We have a decent balance in the side even when he's not playing with Fred, McT, Bruno as the midfielders. The Ronaldo saga stressed me out a lot because he was such a good player for us and I couldn't imagine the thought of him leaving but Pogba? If he stays on reasonable wages, fine by me, I think he's a good player. If he leaves, that's fine as well.
Bruno is inconsistent himself though.
I understand Paul should be doing better but united for the last 8 years has been something else.

Think most would be absolutely fine with it as it just doesn't work. A new contract would get much more criticism imo.
The problem is that realistically no one will offer us big money anymore and will lowball us. I would look at some swap deal if we can't get enough money.
