Should Wenger be sacked?

Should Arsenal sack Wenger

Gibbs with the armband, Ospina in goal... in a match like this.

It's like he's taunting them to fire him
Ospina was pretty good, but I don't like this stupid rotation. If Cech is their best keeper, which he undoubtedly is, he should play every game, especially the important ones

They'll actually be a better side without him in the long run.

It's going to be a very difficult next few years for Arsenal - you'd say that Sanchez is the only player who is good enough (and Ozil when he fancies it, which is about once a month). You look at that performance and their squad and they've got a lot of slightly above average players, but that won't get them anywhere.

That Arsenal side just doesn't look that good. Their midfield with Coquelin and Xhaka is underwhelming and no better than average. Iwobi isn't that great a talent and they don't have any good natural wide players at the moment.

I think his lineup away against Bayern was too attack minded. He should have dropped Özil for Welbeck and have Welbeck harrying their deep lying playmakers.

Overall though:
Gibbs - not good enough
Iwobi - not good enough
Özil - too lazy in matches like these and haven't been good for a while now
Xhaka - not good enough
Coquelin - average
Chamberlain - decent, but needs good players around him

IMHO, that suggests a team that just isn't good enough. Wenger needs to take blame for this, but I'm not sure the blame is all his. I'm not sure loaning out Wilshere was a good idea though.

Please don't sack him. Give the man 2 years contract  Guaranteed CL qualification.

He needs to step away at the end of the season. He's taken Arsenal as far as he can.

I had this thought before the match. Welbeck was a huge reason we controlled the tie against Madrid before we got screwed by Cakir. He made Alonso totally ineffective.

I do feel alittle sorry for Wenger but he's so naive tactically it's unreal.

If I was an Arsenal fan I'd want either Tuchel or Jardim.

Same Tuchel whose team is 8 points behind red bull and he has the second best squad in the league.

How is he a safer bet than Wenger?

If you only measure quality of football by results you may think that, but if you did not watched yesterday's game I have to say to you, Tuchel is 20 years ahead of Arsene in quality of football.

If Wenger was coach of Dortmund, I'm sure they wouldn't be sat in fourth in a one team league.

Haha I knew Wenger would blame the ref for Bayerns 2nd goal. Even though the ref was correcting his initial mistake.

I do not know if you are being serious or no, but hey keep him if you believe he is an top coach.

He deserves a promotion and to get a new job: commentator on Arsenal TV, ambassador of the club in Asia...

He doesn't know when to quit. And his club doesn't seem to know when to sack him.

If you're a quality player, but a lazy twat, Arsenal must be the perfect club. You'll never get dropped, you can play as well as you want, you'll be paid quite well and they'll forget to re-negotiate with you before your last 18 months leaving you with all the power over them. Wenger is well past it as a top manager, but the whole club have a lot to answer for. Ozil's just finished with them now. You'll be lucky to get another good performance out of him in an Arsenal shirt. Sanchez is their best player, but he's gone as well if they wont pay him the amount he wants. Its going to be very hard for them next season if those two leave.

And eveyone will realize he's the one holding them back
Equally, I think it could go tits up for them. Keeping him they'll be consistent. Top 4 but not challenging for big titles. He leaves and they could drop off massively, or really excel. Risk worth taking though.

Definitely Eboue.

But honestly, he's probably done too much for Arsenal for him to get sacked. It would have to be his decision if he ever leaves. So if he's a sensible man, he'll realize that his time is up and not sign a contract extension.

I swear no other 'big' team get properly thrashed as much as Arsenal. There seems to be at least one total capitulation performance against another top side every season.

I think it's time for him to leave. However, I think that when he does they will experience a relative slump. He's allowed too much to stagnate and when he steps away they'll drop out of the top 4 for a few years. At the same time though, they need to. The longer they leave it, the worse it will get.

He ran out of ideas around 2008-9.

Sad that people will remember him more for his last few years than his teams of 98,2002,2004.

I really hope not. Ideally we would see Arsenal make top4 beating maybe Spurs to it on the final day. With one of City and Liverpool also missing out :D

Wenger has consistently been exposed for over a decade now as far as defensive organization and positional play is concerned. I'd even take David Wagner from the Championship over Wenger.

Tuchel will go on to be a brilliant coach and in my opinion it's just a matter of time before he gives Bayern a run for their money.

Arsenal are probably reluctant to sack him, he's been a great servant to the club, also they could "do a United" in regards to what happened to us post Fergie and is there realistically anyone available able to rebuild the squad? I know he seems to be losing touch with modern football but it's still a huge risk to sack him, especially without a genuinely very good replacement.

Think our 6-1 was the first of Wenger's time. We've given them some good hidings since then.

I wouldn't be so sure on the top 4 call. 6 sides to fill 4 spots. 2 sides missing out every year. I wouldn't back Arsenal in a 6 team fight.

I'd go as far as saying Chelsea, City and United will probably make up the top 3 for the next two seasons after this one. Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal in a scrap for one spot... No guarantee for Arsenal there at all.

People still talk about the 2004 team, yet his double teams were exceptional.

Since 2008 they've become predictable and easy to beat. You just need good interceptors and not give them any time on the ball.

Wenger's legacy will arguably just be the stadium now. He did all his good work in his first eight years.
