Sir Ryan Giggs

Anyday now you can expect it. Maybe once he retires, he will be knighted.

I want him to get knighted before retiring, commentators going "Sir Alex issuing some instructions to Sir Ryan..."

How on earth can you be the best winger for years then evolve your game to become the best central midfielder around? Giggs defies logic.

From Michael Owens twitter, the man speaks sense

I think him getting MOTM was a little unfair on Park. Giggs was brilliant, of course, but Park did a lot of the dogsbody-work in the middle of the field for both Carrick and Giggs. i thought the Korean was the star today, for all the praise (and rightfully so) Giggs has got.

I was all ready to make Park my MOTM but Giggs just seemed to get stronger in the latter stages - even getting a bit arsey with the ref and putting his foot in - he was not gonna let that lead slip

a real captain's role whether he wore the armband or not - a close call but Giggsy just nicked it for me

With all the shit surrounding his name at the moment.... do you think it will hinder his chances of being knighted? Well he won't be knighted anytime soon that's for damn sure though right?

If John Terry scored a hat trick and helped England win the World Cup, would he get knighted?

Can't say I ever thought he'd really get knighted. But it was a good way to screw with the scousers. I bet they're reading the Sun and NOTW with great relish as they conduct a witch hunt against Giggs.

Horny old Sir Ryan ran forth from Carrington
he was not afraid to cheat, o brave Sir Ryan
he was not at all afraid to have sex in nasty ways

SAF got knighted for winning the treble. Surely the most successful footballer in Britain deserves a nod, no? IF he does get it, it won't be until he's remarried and 50 years old and all this shit has blown over.

I'm disappointed in him as a person but he's still a good footballer and its what I liked about him in the first place. This is not me being cold and calculated about the hurt his family has suffered. Its just me being realistic and besides, it is a personal matter that should be deal with by him and his family and not the public.

The royal family hasn't looked too highly on adultery over the years. How could the queen possibly knight him now?

I'm employing the lowest form of wit, obviously.

The royal family only seem to commit adultery with hideous looking women so I guess that makes it ok. If you are boning seriously hot birds though then thats definitely not ok in their eyes probably!! :)

Mick Jagger and Robert Mugabe have both been knighted. In a few years, it will all be a minor footnote on Giggs wikipedia page. John Terry is England Captain again right now. This will be pretty much forgotten by the wider public once the next cheating football scandal arises.

I seriously don't understand people asking whether he'll be knighted, even before all those alleged affair bollocks happened. He will be a United and football legend who's won everything at club level, that is what he will bring with him when he retires.

Amen

Sounds wrong I know but I couldn't care less what he's done, to me he's a legend and always will be. I don't know him personally let alone his brother and the rest of his family, only know him as the United footballer, so its none of my business IMO.

Some people in this country are way too obsessed with celebrities and their lives, should focus on enjoying their own. Fair enough you'll find the initial revelation intriguing but don't go on and on about it like they are on TV and in papers. You see other celebs or gossip expert people getting all steamed up about it like its their rite, get a grip. Although if/when Terry slips up again, do admit I will be laughing my bollocks off.

Right now, I am sooo glad I am not him. I am sure Liz wouldn't be keen to Knight him, but I bet her sons think he is their kind of guy. ;)

So I've been checking out the latest jokes (or maybe last month's, I'm terrible at keeping up) and apparently all he needs is an image change and a new catchphrase to regain his legend status.

The usual murmurings about Giggs being on his last legs, being too old to rely on, inevitably he wouldn't be able to reach the same peaks as he had in the last couple of years at 38 (because somehow that's a huge difference to 37) all cropped up in the summer, with the added doubts about him surrounding his personal life...he's looking as much of a threat as ever.

Giggsy doing what he does best, proving his doubters wrong again and again.

I think if we use Giggs correctly, he could play on for another 2 maybe more seasons. He's been outstanding. You have to hold your hands up, he's reinvented himself but at the same time he's still capable from outwide..his goal was typical Giggs

Spot on. I saw so many of those comments over the summer. Assuming he was going to be a bit-part player, was clearly not going to be as good as last season, implying that those including him in our thinking were sentimental, etc. When will they learn? It's literally been the same every season for the last decade.

The reaction to that thread doesn't surprise me - he's been so good the last 2 seasons he's convinced even the sceptics that he more than deserves to have his age overlooked.

I thought there'd been less of the 'usual murmurings' this summer actually, despite the added factor of the private life revelations. I'm just glad that they've had absolutely no effect - been brilliantly handled by him and the club because the fall out could have been a lot worse.

By the way, did Giggs get a lot of grief tonight? He's celebration certainly suggested he did, but I couldn't here any of it at the pub. (This might've been covered elsewhere.)
