Sir Ryan Giggs

Amazing game.

Played against the son of Robert Lee today as well apparently. Robert Lee, who Giggs played quite late in the 90s. Strange man is Ryan Giggs.

That is a stat.

feck me what a player. It's a privilege to watch one of the all time greats.

Saw this picture on reddit; a guy took a picture with Giggs 20 years ago, came back with his kid this year.

Fantastic performance today, was all over the pitch and even his tackling was great.

He was playing a different game of football to everyone else on the pitch... unreal stuff.

I think fergie asked Carrick to go play this magnificent brand of football when he came on, and he came close... But there's only one Giggsy.

He single handedly made coming to Manchester tonight worthwhile.

What he did today was amazing. I'm lost for words. I'm really blessed to have seen United for the last 25 years and what he did today made me sentimental about the whole Fergie era. He is a legend!

Yeah great shout. He's the epitomy of the greatest, most successful era in Manchester United history. I'll look back in years to come at some of his performances and feel pride in telling my kids all about it.

I'm like a broken record now harping on about Giggs. God knows what I'll be like in 20 years!

He was really magnificent, I couldn't believe what I was watching. I know he could do all that, but he looked faster then ever, like he got recovered all the pace he lost in last 5 years or so over night.

Is that Rooney's kid?

It was weird, his stamina seemed through the roof tonight, when he got switched to left wing it was like fergie had subbed on his twin or something, he just started going mental!.

Absolute class. Turned back the clock tonight.

It's incredible how he's the only guy I want to see on the left wing for us. At 39 he's still just better than everyone at carrying the ball on a mazy run.

its amazing but when he finally does hang his boots up remember what you saw. cos your grandkids will be asking you 'how good was Ryan Giggs?'. what a player

Was this his greatest achievement ever. He alone justified a game being played tonight. The rest should pose themselves some serious questions.

Even with his incredible dribbling/passing tonight... I still think my favourite moment of the night was right at the end, when he was played in wide on the left, onside and basically had their whole half to run into. All of us in the Stretford End (and I'm sure the ground) started shouting variations "Go on Giggsy / Take them on Giggsy / Get in the box!" ... to which our man basically just decided to stop and say, Chill out everyone, I've got this, we're winning this game in about 5 seconds... and everyone just stopped shouting and all thought... yeah, fair enough Giggsy, you're right, we're wrong...

What a hero.

Really rolled back the years, class!

We salute you Ryan Giggs

Nani should take note

I know what happened last time we played Spurs but he must be in with a great chance of starting at the weekend after that performance.

I'd play him over any of our wingers on current form.

so true

Goal.com: Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs will remain at the club for another year, Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed

Giggs, who made his league debut for the club in 1991, is the only player to have appeared in every single Premier League season but, with the 39-year-old edging closer to the end of his career, it had been suggested this campaign would be his last.

However, after playing a starring role in United’s 1-0 FA Cup win over West Ham on Wednesday night, Sir Alex has revealed that Giggs will be staying on for a 24th season at Old Trafford.

Speaking to MUTV, Sir Alex said: "He will play for another year. There are no discerning signs of tiredness or weakness in his game, his quality is still there and he has fantastic balance. He has the appetite for it and he is just an incredible human being."

Speaking after his man-of-the-match display over Sam Allardyce’s side, Giggs was more reserved on the matter - stating that he is just taking each game as they come.

He told ITV: “I’m just enjoying my football at the moment and seeing what this season brings.”

The win over West Ham sees United face Fulham in the next round and Giggs is relieved to have got past Sam Allardyce’s side, with a number of players such as Anderson, Nani and Wayne Rooney all returning from injury – with the latter notching the winner in the 10th minute.

He continued: “In the FA Cup anything can happen, we saw that last night. So we're just pleased to get through.

“When you’ve got players who play all the time and some players just coming back from injury it can be tough sometimes. I think all the lads who came back did well.

"You have to give credit to West Ham, they’re a tough team to play against. [At the start of the second half] we couldn’t get out of our own half but then Carrick and Scholes came on and calmed everything down and we kept the ball a lot better.”

 That's exactly me

Gave me goosebumps for the whole of 90 mins. What is happening with Giggs lately? looks like he's aging backwards. Everytime he plays he's magically doing something great. Last time it was the pass to RvP, now the whole of 90 mins. I feel like a shithead now thinking back on how i thought Giggs' time was up in centre midfield. He was the best player on the pitch by miles. His fitness is simply insane. He's still better on the left wing. West ham players really must have got twisted blood with all his turns and crosses

Why?

Are you saying that you would start him in that role against decent opposition, where there would be increased defensive responsibilities?

The context of last night's fixture surely has to be taken into account, the opposition and the pattern of the match.

He was playing against a midfield of Diame and Diarra. His partner was coming back from injury Anderson.

Important cup games, save him for CL and FA cup and unleash the beast.

That would be the best way to use him. He would get his rest and will be fresh for those games to be used on the left. He has too much quality and at this stage doesn't need regular game time to be effective when used sparingly.
