Sir Ryan Giggs

Seriously, can anyone explain those blondie days to me? I'm still in shock.

Just wanted an excuse to post the pic.

I honestly can't understand how a 39 year old can run like that all game! Easily our most energetic player out there today (along with Rafael). Still chasing lost causes like a teenager trying to break into the first team. Amazing.

The guys defies all footballing logic. Besides a few wayward passes he was superb. Just heard he had most touches in the game.

Not just physically but the hunger and desire to still be doing it after winning everything over the last 23 years. He doesn't show it in the same way as a Roy Keane but it's still obvious.

Maybe he will make a good manager one day.

I'll be surprised if he doesn't make a good manager. Him more than any of our other players.

He has the lot, you would think. Intelligence, vision (in terms of planning ahead, the way he has adapted his game to prolong his career) would earn instant respect, obsessed with winning and seems like the guy who could deal with modern day players. Put an arm around them when needed. Something Keane probably couldn't do.

Giggs will play his 1000th senior game next weekend ?

Came in to this thread to say this, and saw Cevno's post - to elaborate:

Ryan Giggs has just played his 999th senior game of professional football - 931 for United, 64 for Wales, and I can only assume the other 4 are made up from Team Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics.

I wonder if Fergie will give him his 1000th against madrid? That would be a fitting occassion and you can almost guarantee he will have an absolute stormer against them.

love the way this thread swings from "he's finished" to "he's still amazing".
who said your average football fan is a kneejerk short term thinker.

Anyone watched the game on Spanish channel and heard the commentator's attempt at singing 'Ryan Giggs, Ryan Giggs flying down the wing...' just after his goal?

Had me in stitches :wenger:

His previous goal at QPR(Before yesterday's)

From 2:34

That QPR goal is special. Even our own player falls over trying to keep up with Giggs.

Had a nice little tribute this morning on Sunday supplement. Henry Winter basically saying he's the greatest player of the modern era, how he is such a big influence on the rest of our players, still as driven as ever and along with Andy Dunn, believes he will become a good manager.

Told a story about how some local kids once got a day with Giggs and Fergie and after an hour or so it was Giggs they had to pull off the pitch, not the star struck kids. Such is his appetite for the game.

Just listened to this. Especially liked the observation that "He's the calm in the storm of matches these days. Matches are played at such pace, but you look at Giggs and he's thinking ahead of everyone else". Certainly true.

They also seemed to think he had a genuine chance of being United's next manager.

I'd actually take Giggs as our next manager - with a strong assistant. He is so intelligent and has a special aura.

Jeez, I forgot that was against QPR. And while Giggs was celebrating the goal yesterday, I was actually expecting him to do that finger twirl for some reason.
A deja-vu was going on in my head.

What. A. Player!

Me too. As long as he is used sparingly and not over played then I see no harm in having him in the squad. He clearly still has a lot to offer.

Exactly that. He's played quite a lot though this season. If we use him right, he looks in great shape

Always nice to see giggs get on the scoresheet. Had to laugh with that chip shoot. Totally thought he fluffed the shot at first only for the ball to drop and hit the bar and realise it was a chip.

Fair play to Giggs.

Was hugely criticised earlier in the season and has again proven critics wrong and shown he is very valuable to the squad. The man is a one off.

I refuse to believe that picture of Giggsy with the bleached blonde hair is real. It isn't. It's photoshopped.

It's definitely, definitely photoshopped! It is!

I'd love that to happen.

And whats more, given his special talent for breaking records he would go on to break Sir Alex's record as longest term as a EPL Manager:drool:

I don't like change, I'm 55 now, so Giggs as Manager for the next 30 years after Sir Alex would just do me

I have to say that his goal made me think of him coolly slotting it in against Wigan to secure the trophy for us in... 08, was it?

Also, I agree with the sentiment that you could just see how he was the most determined player on the pitch against QPR. The man wants his trophy back :)
