Sky Sources : Blind and Mata set to leave this summer.

Hopefully we get rid of Fellaini, maybe the Euros will add a little to his price tag too. Sadly, I think Mourinho might like Fellaini and will probably keep him.

Those two should be the least of our worries, but I do like that he's being ruthless.

Besides, Utd trying to offload Fellaini doesn't make headlines.

Not fussed about Mata one bit. Not good enough. Blind as well, but I don't think he will leave as he can be a decent cover for a no. of positions.

Is this the same Sky Sources that said we were signing Gundongan last year?

Take anything they say with a pinch of salt.

Blind is a very useful player to have. Added bonus is that he's hot.

Have there been successful utility men under Mourinho covering multiple positions ?

I don't think he likes those types tbh as much as say a SAF did. At best you've had from what i recall someone like Ivanovic who was put in 1 position at RB and as last resort could cover CB. But mostly you've got to have a nailed down position.

I really like Mata as a #10 but only if he has the players in behind him that can do the dirty work. Jose seems to want all of his players to make defensive contributions, and it looks like Mata will once again not feature in Jose's plans. Shame, but there we go. I'd be more upset about Blind though, he's a tremendous player to have in the squad due to his versatility. If we sell Rojo (which I hope we do) then Blind has his spot as CB and LB cover, and he can also play CDM. He's a good passer too, incisive balls forward from the back four.

There's nothing concrete in that article although I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. Both are not really Mourinho type players. Same with Fellaini also.

Cannot understand the logic behind Blind. Quality player and useful for any manager at any level. If true, Mourinho is acting like a fecking fool already.

Andy Burton has no line of contact into Old Trafford at all. He's best ignored. The only things he knows is that Mourinho previously sold Mata and that Blind is small.

Blind being let go is an easy story.

"Van Gaal loyalist - small in stature = definitely, 100% going to get sold."
Blind can be more than useful as a squad player, and Mou is having much bigger problems in the squad than Mata. I hope both of them stay. Although, it seems more of guesswork as Blind is/was a LVG loyalist and Mata was sold earlier by him.
What on earth is an LVG loyalist?! I hope they both do stay, we definitely have a lot worst in our squad. If mata goes I hope he goes back to Barcelona or Valencia or somewhere where he is happy. Man I love that guy

Was thinking the same thing, he tends to go for specialists rather than the 'jack of all trades' type of player.

Someone who is loyal to LVG. Someone who is a LVG fanboy. And I also hope both stay

I'd be amazed if there was anything in this and it wasn't just someone guessing. Blind can cover 3 of our most injury prone positions.

Zouma played centre back, defensive midfield and full back. Physically he is some specimen though. The polar-opposite of Daley Blind, plus he's also young, so just getting minutes on the pitch will have been benefiting him, so probably doesn't count as a utility player. That's the only one I can think of.

Blind would have more fun in Italy or Spain anyways, he even said himself that his style is more suited there.

I like the thought of having a very athletic team, no more weak players.

Pretty mixed opinions on here! Not surprised by Mata and as much as I love the guy he's not been great for us. Blind has just played center back in the team that got the best defensive record in the prem though.

Looking at the players we're trying to sign, it's obvious Blind would no longer be in the team and he's perhaps too good to be a squad player. Also he didn't exactly work out as a DM last time around so he's surplus to requirements. Just hope he signs a defender first not after. Who might take Blind? And how much?

We dont know his sources.

And with things like this, one media house runs with this, then another..just like that.

It was similar last season with the stories of Carrick and Rooney visiting Van Gaal for those face to face talks. That was largely rubbished on here too. That was until Van Gaal himself confirmed it.

Im not saying this story is true. But the media arent always wrong . For example, it was clear that Mourinho had made the decision to sell Mata even before his Chelsea return. Mourinho isnt one to shy away from getting rid if he feels the need.

He hasn't got any. Nobody at Sky Sports is close enough to anybody at United to get exclusive information because it isn't in the interest of the club to brief a television channel. Newspapers are different, and the club uses them every day for one reason or another.

The Carrick/Rooney story was more believable because the whole North Western press had been briefed on the same day. It's why every paper went with it on the back page the next morning. Who briefed it? Nobody knows. Although I have my suspicions.

If and when this information is supported by the word of our local reporters then it will hold (slightly) more substance than it does right now, in my opinion.

Daley Blind? Our best outfielder not called Anthony last season. And most versatile. This better be BS or you can get fecked already Jose... :(

Ah yes. The Blind the weakling theory.

I can't say I'd be particularly upset about either of them departing.

Blind would be a little bit strange - he's a decent utility player and could be useful for the squad after all. There are certainly a few players who deserve to leave before him (namely Jones, Rojo or Schweinsteiger) but it isn't something I find massively surprising either.

It was always difficult to envisage Blind becoming a first choice midfielder for us and he isn't someone who fits the profile of a typical Mourinho player.

Those two should be the least of our worries, but I do like that he's being ruthless.
So what is there to like with being ruthless about something that is the least of our worries?!

LVG was ruthless too for the past 2 years and we know how some people saw it. Also, I don't remember Jose shipping tons of players out of old squads from his previous teams when he took over. Can someone confirm that?

Great managers usually make good use with what they have mostly instead of wholesale changes.

Mata leaving United would be no surprise. Blind, can cover many positions, Mourinho though might not be sold on his lack of size nor value his ball playing abilities as much as van Gaal.

I think they just tried to put 2 + 2 together. Mata because he was sold before and Blind because they had an article saying that Jose likes tall, fast CBs. Well, maybe he wants to play him in midfield after all

Mata can go for all I care, imagine him in 2-3 years time when his "pace" starts to leave him due to age, it will be like looking at a drugged snail.

I would like Blind to stay for his reliability and versatility, much rather get rid of Rojo. One thing about Blind leaving though is that it might bode well for CBJ's chances at LB, and TFM's chances as DM\CB backup.

I'm not saying that Blind is. But seeing as he's Dutch, the son of Van Gaal's former player and assistant and somebody that is a product of the oft-criticised "philosophy," it's an easy story to sell.

If I was told to write a story on possible United departures then Mata and Blind would go straight to the top of my list.

Blind would be fantastic for Barca. If Mourinho doesn't fancy him I would rather he move on and have a good career than rot on the bench for us, he doesn't deserve that. Not too fussed about Mata but he's shown he can chip in with good stats.

So the Jose backlash has started already?

Wouldn't be overly fussed if they left. I like both of them but I don't think either are that good.

The funny thing is those two are available almost every game, rarely injured which is a rarity for us, we'll probably sell them and when we suffer our usual 50 injuries next season we'll be struggling for fill ins once again. :(

Absolutely nothing here but guesswork. Sky taking punts to try to claw back a little credibility.

Although neither player is good enough to be a regular in a Prem league winning side.

Yeah 100% agree that this is just click bait bullshit. How could sky sports know who is leaving? I bet mourinho hasn't even decided who's leaving

A believable story if you look at the way Mourinho likes to play. At minimum, Mou likes speed out wide and strength and stamina in the middle. If he has the option of having both speed and strength in those positions he'll take it.

Neither Mata or Blind are particularly powerful or pacey. Blind is not a Mourinho centre back and he's not a Mourinho centre midfielder. At left back Shaw and Borthwick-Jackson tower over him too. Where does he fit in? Mata is too lightweight and too slow to do the work Mou likes his #10 to do. That is why he lost his place to Oscar at Chelsea.

If it helps Mou to make a more cohesive team I'm all for it.

Sky haven't shown to be credible at all in recent years. I think it's utter guesswork.
