Solskjaer's legacy and his future

For every day it goes it shows that Solskjaet did even better job then people want to give him credit for.

Somebody appointed him in the first place and that somebody is getting away with everything, once again.

How can you possibly qualify that statement. The wheels had well and truly fallen off by the time he was sacked and this dire set of players and their equally shocking performances is one which his finger prints are all over.

Are the players really that bad. Tell me this... This question is asked and nauseum about ole... What top job is Ralf R getting after this... I'd love an answer to that question

  This was completely, 100% his squad of players. Had almost 3 years and spent almost half a billion pounds and all he managed to do was put us in free-fall.

Bad to worse? I think it is safe to say that last weeks and months have shown what kind of players Solskjaer worked with. And coming 3rd and 2nd in his two full seasons with what we are seeing just looks better and better. Should get more credit then he does from some of you.

We all agree he needed to go this seson but it was only because you cant change 15 players. Instead you hope that new manager can bring life to some players but not even that have worked.

Amazing, we're in this mess because of him. This is his unbalanced squad, this is his captain, this is his "cultural reboot", it was him who couldn't explain his tactics or style of play and instead brought it down to passion and desire, it was him who lost 0-5 to Liverpool, it was him who spent £400m with no trophies to show, it was him who made it okay to be mediocre because significant sections of the fanbase were stuck in sentiment.

Make no mistake, Ole set us back several years with his general incompetence, let it go man.

According to Ogden (Stetford Paddock interview), Rangnick wanted to know if Nkunku was within United's radar and was shocked to learn that he was not. We're talking about one of the hottest young football talent in Europe, a guy whose currently scoring as many goals as Haaland with more assists under his name. That's the recruitment overhaul the likes of Murtough and Ole had produced. Oh well, we can still unearth Kane and Rice next year

Three years of mismanagement and bad coaching have ruined some of our players and they may not recover. Ole is chiefly responsible for the shambles we are currently.

You do realise he created the mess for the most part? That is why he got sacked
He didn’t create mess. He came to the mess. He got rightly sacked because you can’t sack 15 players. You sack manager and hope for miracle. But same players give you same results. Nothing strange. Unless We get rid of pretenders it will be same with next manager. Hopefully some will leave this summer.

I'll try to answer:

The players are shit

Ole was shit

The coaches are shit

The board is shit

The owners are shit

The club is shit

This is Ole's legacy. Rashford, for example, was overplayed and undercoached throughout Ole's reign.

He has set us back more than any other manager we have had since SAF retired. Built a horrible culture at the club, rewarded failure and left a mess of a squad. Really should have gone after the EL final. The board are even more to blame for this shambles, they have run this club into the ground. But hey, all good, we got a new sponsor and we trend on social media!

This, well put.

The majority of this is on him.

The fix will take several seasons because he renewed contracts unnecessarily on astronomical wages, let others wind their contracts down, failing to cash in on other players, pandering to agents, pandering to players and letting them do/ play as they please, having zero footballing identity, careless attitude of the players, going towards a certain recruitment style then abandoning it when it came to certain players.

This clubs needs a root and branch overhaul to undo the catastrophic damage his passive, player pleasing reign brought.

Coming 3rd and 2nd before players decided to stop playing. Same players. How you make that back several years I don’t know.

Agree with everything you say. It’s going to take a long time to recover from the mess he left us in.

Ole took over a mess created by LvG and Jose also. Not an easy job for a limited manager.

I was profoundly wrong about the squad he built/was building. Awb and maguire for 130m might be the worst money ever spent here

I think we'll know more next season.

This has been an awful year all round but I'm not sure we are actually this bad. I've seen these players produce really good stuff.

Ole definitely made big mistakes with the ins and outs as his tenure continued but right now I think his legacy looks worse than it actually is.

Interesting how some people seem to have changed their tune regarding ole now. First it was we have a good squad of players and just need a good tactician. Now it is the squad which is unbalanced and the best tacticians in the world can’t do anything with it.

Can't believe there are still people out there defending him. Just look at this lot he bought in. Christ on a bike.

Just close this thread, no need to keep revisiting Ole. He was shit we al know it, but damn redcafe haves a fixation on keep dueling past managers.

Ole got it wrong today. He can’t motivate players or coach. Would like to see what a real coach could get out of this team!

He did a good job fecking us more than the previous managers did, though.

How exactly? He spent more/equal money, he won nothing and he left a bigger mess behind.

Exactly. 99% say he was shit the other 1% nailed their colours to his mast and dont want to lose face. This will never change.

Could be that Ralf isn't really a coach the last decade too. We were better under ole. Not in his last five games true. But the prior 100. Quite incredible

Take off the rose-tinted glasses and you’d see we were playing absolutely dross LONG before that 5 game spell. The entirety of last seasons was based on moments of quality plastering over poor performances.

All that’s happened now is that we’ve run out of plasters.

He bought most of these dross. To me the biggest mistake he made was making Maguire the Captain. It's an unforgettable sin.

glad we don't have those moments of quality any more ! wont miss them !

99% say he is a bigger reason for why we are losing than the current manager. thats the madness of this thread. nobody is in here arguing ole should still be the united manager... just laughing at how wrong people got it when they guaranteed we would improve with a hipster manager
