We also had that with the previous manager but he got second and actually won the Europa League in different seasons ...and deservedly got sacked.
All of the managers we've had post Fergie have left the club in very unhappy circumstances and share a good portion of the blame. This squad we have now is in a horrible state. It's not moaning to say so, it's not cynical, it's just a fact. The club is, and has been, in a rotten place for sometime and I think even our better league positions and our stellar achievement of second place were false in proportion to our actual quality, and this goes back to when we finished 2nd with Jose 4 or 5 years ago.
I miss the man, honestly. We’re as bad right now as we were when Ole got the sack. But now we’re anemic and plain boring to watch as well.

I know the first season was mixed. Strong start with lots of goals and then disintegration. Our two full seasons with Ole were okay in the context of the last ten years.
You may think RR cannot be expected to do better than he has been but I think he is below par; I don’t call for his head or even blame him that much because he isn’t really a coach any more, he’s just filling in. And there will be a change in the summer.
So it could be that next season and the year after will be much better. I’m just not very optimistic about that. And if you offer me 2nd in the league and Europa final I will fecking take it. For starters.

Which is a great point. This whole RR is doing badly so OgS was good argument doesn’t wash. As you go on to say, all managers post 2013 have their fair share of blame in our demise & in 5 appointments we’ve not gotten it right. RR, wrong man. OgS, wrong man. Jose, wrong man. LvG, wrong man. Moyes, wrong man.
People loved the idea of OgS, even I was carried away for a time, but facts are we spent millions over years talking up mediocrity & underperformance. If we’re talking strictly OgS’s legacy then I fail to see a positive.
Somehow Ole statistically was decent in his overall tenure but he was clearly not at the level the club needed to ascend closing the gap on city. Didn't show enough of being a winner almost having a Poch category of philosophy when being determined to be successful.
If the Glazers had pulled the plug earlier, the season would have been far easier to salvage this making Ole's legacy somewhat more solidified. Now there's a cultural issue where the players are running the show more than the staff and are unconvinced to be motivated for even the bare minimum of a top four finish.

Any half decent coach should be able to do at least as well as Ole did. You can’t come in, do terrible, do worse than Ole, and blame him for it. It’s nuts.
My read is most definitely not that Rangnick is doing worse. Ole had us in relegation form when he got sacked (sadly far too late).
Don’t get me wrong. Sacking ole was 100% the right thing to do. I was just hoping we’d become a better team by doing it. Right now we’re about as bad, only even less likeable/exciting/entertaining.

We can pick results to fit any narrative, really. But the fact is that we’re still very bad. And I was told the squad was more than good enough, as long as we got literally anyone but Ole at the helm.
We’re scoring way fewer goals, and not really winning any more games with RR. And it’s making me depressed and apathetic.

At least today we tried to attack, out defensive line was just outside Atleticos box. Biggest mistake he ever did was to name Maguire club captain. When you see the Old Trafford give the Bronx cheer when the captain is taken off, you know it's really bad. If it wasn't for football politics, Captain Fatfeck would be sitting on the bench by now.

Had OgS not fecked up royally to begin the season after ridiculous investment then we wouldn’t have been looking for a manager at a point where most decent ones were in jobs so yes, OgS’s failures led to us hiring RR. That isn’t up for debate.

Ole's legacy is Harry Maguire getting the armband. I've never seen a Manchester United captain being cheered ironically while he gets subbed out and the club is getting thrown out of the CL.

The devastation his reign has wrought is considerable. Useless, entitled and ridiculously overpaid players, very poor squad, significantly lowered standards, etc. That being said, he carries only some of the blame. Ultimately, he was just a puppet. Just like Poch will be next season. The source of all evil is at the top. The fans carry a lot of blame as well. Cheering him on after he presided over some of the most devastating losses.

What? There was clearly a ton of people on here insisting that Ole was a fraud and that anything like a proper coach who knows his shit would see us improve.
The first press conferences prompted a bunch of posts saying how refreshing it is to have a coach who has a clue about tactics. That narrative has obviously been debunked, but it was there.
Wasn't his first press conference more about how he wanted to make us the fittest team, no team should ever work harder than us etc.
