Some praise for Jose

Asking to be pegged back with that change :(

Capitalise on the goal and get a second or wait until West Ham bring on Carroll to get Smalling on. How we were playing was working for now.

Praise for Jose from me

Got it spot on as the game progressed. We were flat and tired, he changed the game with his subs

I even agreed with the smalling sub. It wasn't actually a negative change, it was putting carrick back in midfield were we needed him

Agreed 100%

Agreed. I saw him get a lot of flack on twitter because of it but he read the game perfectly.

By going back to a back 4 it gave us more balance as he knew West Ham would throw everything at us.

People were moaning about Lingard starting, Martial on the bench etc. At the end of the day all of that is irrelevant as long as the team succeeds.

Really like the way he has gone after results recently by taking some risks and making offensive substitutions.

Got us on a bit of a roll now, let's allow it to continue.

The Jose subs reminded me of his time at Chelsea during first stint when subs always used to work when needed. As much as he is likely to put a defender to defend marginal lead late on, he is also not afraid to make attacking change even in situation like today when team is otherwise also clearly at advantage with a man up. With no physical threat, Darmian out and Rojo wide was calculated risk. Mata injected creativity and he was relatively fresh to all players on field. Goal still not coming, he puts Rashford and immediately we started to play through him and with his pace. Take the lead and then anticipating Carroll sub, he puts Smalling on.

Hat's off to Jose - he surely must take a huge amount of credit for that win. His subs quite literally changed the game.

Plus the fact that he went gung-ho in the second half, obviously sensing the Hammers were going to tire as the game wore on.

He hasn't recieved a great amount of credit this season but tonight this win was on him.

His subs in the last couple of games have been excellent

He won us the game, simple as that.

He got his subs spot on today, also changed our shape to adjust to the conditions of the game. Great management.

Jose deserves a rest against Reading. Maybe he and Zlatan can go on a holiday together. He's really one of the few suited to the United job.

Yup.

The sending off actually went against the tactics Jose had employed in the first half. Lingards defensive ability and movement was some what pacified as West Ham then dropped so deep. Jose adjusted accordingly and we got the 3 points.

He got that sub nailed on. He knew that Rashford could beat his full back with ease and that Mata is exceptional arriving in the box for cut backs and finishing from that position. I wonder if he told Rashford to look for Mata in that situation. Mou certainly looked smug when the ball went in.

If some fans had their way he'd have been sacked by the end of October.

It's really nice not to see Fellaini thrown out when we're chasing a game.

He has had very good inspirations in December and he is starting the year in the same way. Well done Hosé.

Absolute beast of a manager, especially seeing how even 'hollier than thou Pep' is cracking up at City.

He switched off the Liverpool game after Liverpool made it 2-1.
Had to be told on MUTV that they dropped points, he had no idea

For me two things are happening, he's really got to know the players he has and the players are starting to play the way he wants them to with the strengths they have. It was always going to take time and I'm sure there are positions he wants to strengthen even more but there is definitely a sense of optimism.

There is just no way he didn't know.

It makes me angry that he wasn't the one to immediately succeed Fergie.

It was clear as day back then and is even more clear now that he is the man with the big enough balls and ego to take on the job.

Absolute waste of 3 seasons with Dithering Dave and the Deluded Dutchman.

The Darmian/Mata sub at half time was an inspired piece of strategic thinking. Against 10 men, we'd waste a player with a full time back 4, so by asking Carrick to play a CD/ CDM hybrid, he ensured we'd effectively have an extra man in midfield when needed.

Yep - this win was basically down to Jose.

The past two games have been classic Mourinho. He's best at being decisive, responding and adapting to the flow of the game. In fact he has did it so many times in his career. There were several times during his first stint at Chelsea where he would just risk it and make three instant subs at the HT interval. You compare that to LVG who had his 70th minute substitution rule, its a big refreshing change.

Again great subs and attacking ones to add.

Compare that to the subs of last year. Night and day.

Also speaking about Rashford being United man and having United DNA. I think he loves every minute of the job. Every minute.

We can only imagine what would have been if he'd come straight in, and we'd then gone for big name players, having just won the title, and having Champions league.

Slightly better than 7th i'd imagine!

We should be happy about the way it happened with mou. I think that even he would have had a hard time succeding saf. Sometimes i even think the board installed moyes as a buffer deliberately. They surely couldnt be that irrational as i know noone who thought moyes will be a success.

Spot on subs. Hes had months with the players now, seeing their strengths and weaknesses and its working. Honestly, its kinda a shame we didnt just bring him in last December and give him that 4-5 month free pass to work it out.

His handling and phasing out of Rooney from the first team.
His handling of Mkhi and Martial (despite what people keep going on about).
his 4 signings
Hes getting us attacking and scoring and winning.
He is being ruthless with ingame management too rather than sticking to notes on a notepad that were determined pre-game.

I do think his time at Madrid in terms of attacking play was underappreciated by some, and I felt he would get us doing the same. Didnt think it would be as attacking as weve seen so far so quickly though. Would love to see us and him get those home matches against West ham, Stoke and Burnley again. Shame.
