Southampton vs. Manchester United

---------------PIG----------------

Nev------Vida------Evans-----O'Shea

-----Fletch---Scholes---Anderson---

Welbeck--------Berba------------Nani

Subs. VDS, Rafael, Giggs, Ronaldo, Park, Rooney, Manucho

Would like to see this team

Id love to see that team too, mainly cus i would like to see more of the formation as i think it makes us less predictable. but i cant predict saf picking it as we play 442 so much, so:

kuz

neville vidic evans o'shea

nani scholes carrick park

rooney manucho

Berbatov if no manucho.

One is being sent back and the other will feature in a few reserve games in January before being unleashed in February when everyone else is knackered (except 3-lung Park of course who may just be breathing a little harder than usual).

I'd like to see some youth mixed with experience, need Berbatov ready for Chelsea as he's sure to start with Rooney as Tevez has had a death in family I think it is and surely wont be mentally ready... Get Neville some more time as we can't trust Rafael against them.. PIG for me as doesn't Foster have a broken finger or something? If not I'd be fine starting him. The middle should feature Scholes so he can get some more time to hit proper form. With the wings Ronaldo should be spared with Nani and Park coming in although Giggs is going to be favored in this kind of game if more youth is being utilized.

Wouldn't bet on that, we never give debuts out in reserve games to anyone bought for any serious money. Certainly not quality international players, maybe kids like Possebon etc.

I reckon Tosic's debut will come in either the league or cup.

Players like Kleberson, Foster, Manucho have made their debuts for the reserve so I wouldn't rule it out completely. The reason most players don't debut in the reserves is because they're signed in the off season so can play in first team friendlies.

Many from here actually going to the game ??
Also if you are, where are you going before the game, we are getting there 2/3 hours before kic off so dont know where to hang out really.
This will be my 1st Utd away as i dont count the 0-0 at the dell when i was 9, especially as i was in with the home fans.

Kuszack

G Nev, Evans, Vida, JOS

Nani, Scholes, Anderson, Park

Berbatov, Welbeck

I would guess Giggs will probably start instead of Welbeck but I hope we give him a start. This is one the last games I can realistically see him starting this season, aside from the League cup semis, and every time he has played for the first team he has looked the part. I suppose with Rio out SAF might be tempted to rest Vidic but with so many defenders out there is no obvious replacement. Rafael will start against Derby and started against Boro so probably won't play and Fabio is not ready yet so bringing either JOS or G Nev into the centre is probably not going to happen.

Other than that, Rooney and Ronaldo should be rested due to the amount of games they have had recently and the rest, bar Park, need the games.

Welbeck has surely got a shout, Tevez isn't even in the country yet.

I reckon there could be an outside chance he could start wide right, if he doesn't start up top.

I'm just hoping we give a few of the younger lads a run out. Possebon, I think is a joy to watch at times with the way he can spread the ball about. Whilst I doubt it will happen I hope Fabio is fit to make the bench, with Evra missing I think he could be a decent sub to bring on when Southampton get tired legs.

Also Manucho has got to be in with a chance for a place on the bench too with Tevez not traveling.

I have posted on page 2 (#63) the travelling squad for this one......so no Fabio and Manucho.

I think Fergie plays tomorrow a strong side and probably this one which will start against Chelsea on next Sunday (Evra of course will start and if fit then Rio).

I reckon this line-up for the Derby game: PIG/Foster - Rafael, Vidic, Evans, O´Shea - Nani, Fletcher, Gibson, Anderson, Park - Tevez

Assuming the MUTV announced squad is 100% confirmed, I think Fergie might go for something like this against Southampton.

----------------- Kuszczak -----------------
Neville ----- Evans ----- Vidic ----- O'Shea
---------- Fletcher ---- Possebon ----------
Ronaldo ------------------------------- Nani
------------------------ Rooney ------------
----------------- Berbatov -----------------

Subs: Foster; Rafael; Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Park; Welbeck.

In Squad: Van der Sar, Gibson

Out: Ferdinand, Tévez, Hargreaves, Anderosn, Brown, Evra, Manucho, Fábio, Tosic

With Chelsea a week away, I think Sir Alex will start this with a strong side (such as the one above) and go for a slightly weaker team to face Derby away; as we can afford to 'not-win' that game as it's a two legged affair . Van der Sar has been great recently, but I'd rather just keep him fresh for Chelsea and hope he keeps up his good form. Kuszczak or Foster, I'm not really fussed. But Foster has had a finger injury recently, so I'd rather give Kuszczak the nod for this one at the moment. Neville still needs more miles on the clock, and this will probably be a rough and tough game, so I think he'll be more suited than Rafael. Evans and Vidic are our only real centreback options at the moment, other than O'Shea but he's got to play at left back with Evra and Fábio out.

I think Sir Alex has the confidence in Fletcher to give him the responsibility of 'bossing' the midfield, and I think he's up to it. But if we start to lose that battle we've got Carrick, Scholes and Giggs in reserve. Possebon will probably play quite deep with Fletcher, but pick out the through balls for our four attacking players. I'd love to see Fletcher and Possebon sit quite deep (half-way) and just let Ronaldo, Nani, Rooney and Berbatov show us what they can do. No direct orders, just utilize the width, play your football and keep scoring.

I think that playing Neville and O'Shea frees up the flanks a bit more for Ronaldo and Nani, since they can just focus on attacking and beating players the majority of the time. We just need to go at them from the off, finish the game, then give players a bit of a rest before the next games. Since we need to beat Chelsea to make a big step towards our next Premier League Title. Looking forward to this though, let's hope it's not a curse that all the local sides are going out in Round Three. (Macclesfield Town, Stockport City, Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic are all gone, only Manchester United left..).

As much as I think that side (or probably any side Sir Alex picks) will demolish Southampton, I still can't get this scoreline out of my head so I think it'll happen:

Southampton 1-2 Manchester United

Nani
Berbatov

Fergies Formula

----------------- Kuszczak -----------------
Neville ----- Evans ----- Vidic ----- O'Shea
---------- Scholes ---- carrick ----------
Park -------------------------------- Ronaldo
-------------------- Giggs -------------------
------------------ Berbatov -----------------

Don't no why but i can see this one going the distance.Score Draw.

What the hell is going on with Setanta? They're saying that match is on Setanta Sports 1 but it's not listed on the Sky menu. It's listed as being on Setanta Ireland but it's down as being at 4pm even though kick off is at 3...

The feck?

Didn't Anderson play for the reserves against City before his debut against Sunderland?

He cost a fair bit of money...

I thought his first game was a pre-season match against Glentoran?

Very happy about that, Welbeck and Berbatov have the makings of a nice partnership, Carrick, Anderson, Nani and Giggs have put in some great cup performances together this season and the defence is very solid.

Surprised about Van Der Sar though.
