Southampton vs. Manchester United

Why is everyone having a break down over DDG not starting?

I dont like the timing of it. Nothing else. Lindegaard is a reliable keeper so i have no problems with him getting an odd game.

Perfect game to put Lindegaard in IMO.

Not everyone, just the fanboys. De Gea > United for them.

It's not about being DDG fanboys. Unless he's injured, it's just weird dropping DDG because of that mistake. All the keeper rotation really didn't help us or DDG with the keeper position last year. It's no coincidence that our keeper looked solid when DDG got a consistent run at the end of the season.

Welbeck on the wings has been pretty poor EVERY single time he's started there.
No Nani ......? If he's fit, it doesn't make sense to drop someone for 2 matches, when they've played 1 bad match. Especially to Welbeck on the wing... average Nani >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Welbeck on the wing.

What the feck is Frogie up to with DDG?
Anyone would think that he's been nipping donuts outta his ass. He deserves to start as man utd's undisputed #1 when fit. He's simply a superior goalkeeper to Lindegaard; I don't think DDG would feck up much anymore, whereas Lindegaard's last match (?) included that howler to City in the FA Cup 3rd round (Bundled the shot back into Aguero...).

No idea why, Lindegaard is going to get games, people just need to accept that. I am sure the situation is no shock to De Gea and I would bet he is still #1 choice, but Lindegaard is doing exactly what I bet SAF bought him for. Taking some of the pressure of De Gea, so he does not have to feel he has to carry the entire keeper load.

Fergie confirms the mistake last week cost him his place.

"Back in a couple weeks time". Not fecking about with De Gea

SAF: "That mistake could have cost us the game. De Gea will be back in a couple of weeks time."

Seems as if he's trying to punish De Gea.

Fergie just blamed DDG for Fulham's goal last week. Don't completely agree with that, was as much Vidic's fault. We're lucky Lindegaard is a good keeper, he was sensational for the reserves against Tottenham last week.

Don't see what the fuss is all about. Lindegaard is a solid keeper for us and I can't see why he can't do the job against Soton. He has to get some games as well ya know..

Nani is on the bench which is good.

Team comes first
I'm sure Ferige knows that.
Not sure where the rotating keepers = disaster bit comes from.
A settled side is always better.. but we dont do that with the outfield players.. If Fergie thinks the keeper has a good enough understanding with the backline, rotation shouldnt really be a problem.

I suppose this is a good thing, having real competition for the goalkeeping position (and not like the Howard, Caroll sense where they were competing over who was less shit).

Lindegaard was brilliant for the U21's.

You feck up, and there's someone there eager to take your place. The way it should be.

I'm shocked actually. Even if Fergie has left him out because of the mistake, it isn't like him to make it public. Fergie likes to deal with things in-house and sticks up tooth and nail for his players in the press (usually).

Oh yes. Not starting our best goalkeeper whose young and only going to become one of the very best in the world at this rate, so that he can eat donuts on the bench.

How is that going to help him? In the meantime he's better than almost every other GK, including Lindegaard, and you're only delaying the final product.

Whereas 'young' Danny gets the starts over players he's worse than, in a position he's pretty poor in.

I've never ever fielded the same lineup as Frogie/been totally happy with one.

I don't think I ever will. . .....

If you don't remember, half the forum wanted Lindegaard to be the #1 after having no confidence in DDG. (I was in the other half, but not registered on the forum, a mere purveyor of the threads, wanting DDG to start because you could see he was going to be great).

He's young, he's better than him already, and rotating GK's is good for neither GK. It's simply crazy to do it, but crazy is SAF's favourite hobby.

No point making a kid undroppable. He can not get complacent.

Depends on the player how they will react to such treatment. Fergie is a better judge than any of us.

Vidic equally at fault for that goal, should have dropped him aswell then

Not really. DDG should have given him a shout or come out there in a much more convincing manner.

Even if we'd accept they'd be equally at fault, Vida doesn't need schooling like that, whereas it can actually be helpful to DDG. Think SAF is spot on with giving him a rest for one game here.

Suprised he said it was down to a mistake, don't get that, can understand if he said that in private but not in the media. Not sure what he expected when he signed a 20 year old keeper.

All it does is give the media more ammunition to fire at De Gea. Ah well

Take it as a massive positive. He feels he is mentally strong enough to handle being called out for mistakes in public. No mollycoddling anymore.
