Southampton vs. Manchester United

Couldn't really hear Fergies interview..was he talking about defending back post crosses being something they'd worked on?

No idea how it looked on T.V, but Hernandez coming on really seemed to give us a spark up top, looked really sharp. Deserves a shout out.

What an amazing game. Was so annoyed with RVP when he missed the penalty, I actually dont think he played very well.

Ferdinand was brilliant, glad to see Hernandez.

Correct. Our oft criticised substitutions changed the game today. Danny better get his act together if he wants to remain a starter.

Except he doesn't even come close to Scholes' technical ability.

But then again, who does.

Agree but he's the closest we've got I think. He has vision and generally seems to make good quick decisions. Also Scholes being at United for well over a decade helps him know what to do, that'll come with time (hopefully not too long) for Kagawa and Cleverley

Ferdinand did very well for the equaliser but he and Vidic were nowhere close to excellent defensively.

You guys can overrate him as much as you like. It's things like van Persie's hattrick that make people forget how badly he played.

If he isn't at United already, no one on here will even suggest signing him.

Carrick at Redcafe is Lucas at Rawk. Praised to high heavens. Brilliant? LOL

RVP got us out of jail today but we are really struggling with physical threats and we just move the ball so slowly in midfield, there's just no incision or vision with Carrick and Cleverley in there, both want to play it safe too often.

Scholes changed the match when he came on and that is great, but it was as Southampton were tiring and Scholes was fresh, we really need someone doing that over 90 minutes week in and week out.

The back 4 look dodgy but that hopefully will settle once they get a few games under their belts. Kagawa had his weakest game today but he didn't play badly, RVP was class all game bar the penalty, his movement and silky technique is great to watch.

Glad Fergie mentioned Chicharito in the post match interview, I thought he looked sharp and tenacious when he came on.

Oh, before I go sulk in the corner, Evra is another fecking liability.

Obviously wumming, if not I fear for you.

Pure idiocy; of the same ilk that got me demoted till i reached 150 rep points mind you!

You was wumming before. What you on about?

I am not watching it, but do we think that if Fletch gets back his fitness, he gets a game?

Fletcher played in the most recent reserve game. Some quality passing and his awaerness shone through but he still looked underpowered and a bit slow. Would prefer to see the energetic combative Tunnicliffe get the call.

anywhere got any decent highlights? fecking shite being on Pacific time.

101greatgoals has some highlights on there.

The video thread has already got the full match in there too if you need that.

can anyone give me a link or anything like that where I can download/watch the entire game?
I couldn't watch it since I was working, and I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out here. I tried searching google for it but found nothing so far, and I don't feel like waiting a week before being able to watch the game.

When he finally came to the touchline in the 83rd minute, I thought he had left it too late and it would be hard to shift gears and get the goals in such little time..
Fergie knows when to turn it on.. What a man.

And Rio.. He has his back problems.. doesnt get forward all the time.. But he did when it mattered.. Legend.

Really?.He seemed resigned to the fact that we were out of it , thank goodness for a veteran midfielder.

No way.
He got out of his seat at 83rd minute and stood there for a bit. The tempo went up (or it seemed to)

He trusts the players to dig themselves out most of the time.. but his presence on the touchline can be a boost. He doesnt do it all the time.

I'm not saying him leaving his seat got us the win.. but he didnt do it too early... and he didnt leave it too late. The added urgency was perfectly timed.
10 minutes (7+injury time) is enough for united to score... twice.

Thank feck for Mr Van Persie.

We were bobbins. Bobbins on every single level. The midfield is utter utter shite and any decent side is going to murder us if things aren't addressed rapidly.

Those of you with the 'De Gea saves those' nonsense are talking out their arse. Both were great headers...De Gea would have got nowhere near them.

Evra is a liability.

Cleverley looked utterly clueless as to what position he was playing.

Carrick was utter utter toss.

Kagawa was left with no real support and got over run.

WELBECK IS NOT A feckING WINGER FFS!!!

Got out of jail and completely mugged Southampton. Fair play for keep plugging away but there was a serious, serious lack of quality in so many areas today.

The midfield makes me want to tear my face off.

Just thank our lucky stars we were playing a newly promoted side.

I just watched the game again, and I still don't get the huge praise for Scholes. he was fine, but for Van Persie to say he was man of the match, bit surprising. I think we have all seen Scholes play better and really dominate. He had a few nice passes, but I think the praise was over the top.
Having said that, the entire team were quite dire yesterday, so the man of the match honours did not have many candidates.

I think RVP saying that was more out of modesty than anything, he was hardly going to say I'm man of the match.

But in fairness everyone was a bit shit and although Scholes was not at his best he created more than anyone else on the pitch in the short time he was on. He slid a perfect ball through to RVP as soon as he came on and allowed us to move the ball about a lot better than before he came on.

Hardly a vintage performance but he was the best (baring RVP) of a bad bunch.

3 points gained, plenty of room for improvement everywhere on the pitch.
