Scholes is bossing the midfield because there is no midfield from Stoke
 
IMO when playing against a forest like stoke, crossing it is useless. run at the bastards with the ball with pace and skill. you have to beat them on the deck as beating them in the air will be immensely difficult.
 
Been watching the first half on a jumpy crackly stream, if anyone feels like PMing me a good one I would be very grateful.
 
Creativity missing big time, need either a gibson who will hit the shots to scared this bus, or Anderson to trial and weave through the middle.
 
Although I was pleased with the team selection from SAF, I actually feel that 2 wingers is perhaps not the right formation to be playing against this team.

As has been pointed out, they are dealing with crosses without any drama - and we are not the best side in the air.

I would be happy to see Owen on at 60 mins as he seems to be the best at finding space - that today is perhaps the most precious commodity.

I also thunk Nani has done ok. There seems to be loads of people crticising him...but then Ronaldo had that too a few years back. He does seem one of the most likely players to score.

I think Rooney and Berbatov need to do more to impress tbh. That's a £60 million pund partnership we have there...

fecking awful half to watch, although, apart from the score we have dominated them.

Valencia should have scored, and Nani has been pretty abysmal apart from that 1 shot.

Berbatov and Rooney getting extremely frustrated by the lack of delivery to them, and rightly so. Ball getting stranded on the wings, and either shit crossing or being slower than a scouser learning algebra and getting past the Stokeys on the wings by Nani and Valencia are decreasing our chances in half.

Scholes has been good so far, minus the tackling, although that comes at no great suprise. However, on a couple of occasions he has gone for hopeful pokes upfield instead of keeping possession and passing into an, admittedly crowded but passable-through penalty box and surrounding area.

However, we must keep the pressure on them, and this will end 3-0, Rooney with all 3.

I think everyone has been harsh on Nani, he has made a few wrong decisions but he always looks dangerous, good shot at the end too

Their weakness is at RB, so we should just pummel that area. I'd give it 10-15 mins and bring Giggs on for Valencia, put Nani on the right and get Giggs/Evra to attack Huth at RB none stop.
 
We've had a lot of the ball and Scholes has dominated the midfield. But we have'nt really created too many clear chances, and in fact, Stoke will be pleased with the way the first half went.

We have been poor on the wings. Valencia and particularly Nani have been shite.

We need to start creating more down the wings.

Agreed. He almost conceded a penalty in the first half.
