Berba's bitch. A Bulgarian dEvil
Easy one. For an away game...
Nah. Too obvious. I'd go for the West Ham game in a couple of weeks.I really see this game as the game to rest some of our key players ahead of the Chelsea game.
Just play the youth players plus a few reserves. If there is ever a 'significant' game for them this season, this is the one. It might be a risk, but a loss at this stage isn't a disaster and it is a good chance to see how much these players have developed. I'm sure they won't let us down. They are already quality players. We don't want a repeat of players tiring against Chelsea. We have great squad depth and this is the time we prove it.
Fulham in the FA Cup take that accolade, closely followed by ours against Chelsea. Arsenal were also horrendous.
Not got a clue what team he will put out on Saturday but I can't see Evra playing both games so Buttner will probably start against Sunderland. The interesting one is the strikers, usually he would probably rest RvP and maybe even Rooney for the league game and play Hernandez and Welbeck but Hernandez is deadly against Chelsea.
Thank god proper football is back is all I can say. Seems like an age since we last played a league match.
Good to hear Fergie saying it will be a strong team tomorrow, not like the lineups on here suggesting we should rest everyone.
Sunderland 0-1 Utd
This is probably going to be a shit one.
is the chelsea match at noon?
Can't agree.
Its risking a loss that we can't afford. SAF has enough quality players to strike the right balance so that we have enough top players for the Chelsea game as well.
Chelsea have got to play too and they can't risk a loss either. Spurs are one point behind them (even though they've got a game in handle) can't imagine them risking a CL place. A loss at this stage can be crucial.
A loss that we can't afford? I don't know when was the last time you had a look at the league table but we're currently 15 points ahead of City. Losing this game wouldn't put any pressure on us at all.
No pressure at all is a little far fetched in my opinion. All it takes is a loss here and then in the derby and its down to 9 with games against chelsea and arsenal to come.Granted the probability of that is slim, but still can't take anything for granted.I'd rather we play our full strength team today and see whats left for the cup game ,take no chances and hammer the nail into city.A dodgy result here wouldn't give us much momentum going into the cup game and the players are used to these situations at the business end of the season,it's what they live for.
De Gea; Rafael, Jones, Vidic, Buttner; Scholes, Carrick; Nani, Anderson, Young; Rooney.
The Telegraph's 'possible' team:
Don't see it myself.
I agree with you that it isn't tight as city would have to pull off a miracle to get back in it,I'd rather we win today and put out a strong team to keep momentum and put it to bed.Last season wasn't a good thing and would play on the minds of the players if city even got a sniff.Hopefully we can put ina good performance today and use the subs well if things go to plan and play chelsea on a high.9 points isn't tight at all. City will still drop something along the way and really, a 12-point gap before a home game against your rivals is hardly a situation with lots of pressure. All this nonsense about 'one loss making it tight' is nonsense - we'd have to lose 6 of the remaining 9 games for City to finish ahead, probably even more because I fully expect City to drop more than 3 until the end of season.
Between winning here and beating Chelsea on Monday I'd pick the latter anytime.
