Sunderland vs. Manchester United

You can see Van Persie really wants to score today :D like a man on a mission

1-0 at half time. Playing well. Let's hope for more of the same in the second half. Not to be defeatist but sometimes we can come out completely flat in the seco d half after a good first period. Hope to avoid that today.

Not a bad half , maybe could have got another, need to keep them on the back foot in the the second half.

Nobody has looked poor today. Young has been a little sloppy but in general has been fine. Anderson and Valencia also looking pretty good.

Good half

Sunderland is awful really. Very compact firsthalf for us. Nothing great but nothing bad too. Kagawa really thriving in the hole for us. Him and Carrick are the positive in the first half

very Comfortable half for us. Sunderland haven't really put us under pressure at all. Kagawa and Carrick in particular have had plenty of space and time on the ball. This really looks like a training game so far. Would have been nice to get another goal or two to punish sunderland, as i can't see the second half being quite as easy.

What has Valencia done in this game to warrant abuse? He's not done anything poorly and has put in a shift. I know it's the "in-thing" to round on the guy at the moment, but christ... actually let him play poorly first before you do it.

Carrick and Kagawa super

Let's get another 2, bring on Powell and welbeck for carrick and RVP

Not sure if serious. This is Buttner first decent match in a while ... Evra has got nothing to worry about from him

Buttner really is making a claim of being the permanent left back in the team. Fabio is going to really have to fight for his place when he comes back, Evra also if Buttner carries this form on.

Please learn to read before asking if serious. Look at the bolded word which is used when we are talking in the conditional sense.

Good half, hopefully we don't come out and turn to spastics in the second half, we do that a lot.

Ashley Young has got to Top 3 in our worst signings of the past decade. Calling him woeful today would be an understatement. Is there a time when he's not facing with his back to goal? Does he ever do anything of use?

Anyway, good half otherwise. We've been in control and Kagawa and Carrick and even Anderson have been very good. Wish we could get a 2nd quickly and end this tie. Nani on for Young too hopefully.

He's been very good today. Only a couple of poor crosses but been excellent otherwise

Kagawa has ran the show. Had enough space to exploit to be fair.

Good half. Everyone looks devent today, youngs been a bit shit and persie looked knackered at the end but apart from that a very comfotable half. Especially kagawa, carrick and Büttner looked really good

Carrick Man United player of the season.

Agreed, personally think he had a good shout last year too.

Really should have finished this game off by now, some of the players, Carrick and Kagawa in particular have been really good. Need to get the wide players to step it up, but then that's been the general thing all season.

Hope Rafael is off as a precaution.

We're in control and look very comfortable but not creating much. Still deserve to be ahead though.

I hope this time we'll break the habit and won't stop playing football after a decent half...

He's been distinctly average though. He's better than that, and a full season of it warrants some criticism. Just as is the situation with Ashley Young.

This game is crying out for a fired up Nani to split Sunderland open and have someone who can actually run with the ball with confidence.

Oh but the performance in general has been very good. Centrally, we look solid. Hopefully one of our players can actually score and add some gloss to this. Then again, recent history suggests Sunderland will come out and have a go and we'll be watching through our fingers.

He hasn't warranted abuse but the "pointless" comments aren't really far off the mark because he's done sweet feck all of note to contribute to our attack out there, though it seems to have reached a point with Valencia this season where by a good performance from him on here constitutes doing nothing wrong instead of actually doing something right.

This Buttner's first good half in a while in what's been a easy game. He's not pushing anyone for his spot yet as he's been dodgy defensively even in the U21's at times.

Wait and see if he carries this forward.

That was probably the most comfortable half we've played all season. Sunderland have been utterly abysmal, the worst side I've seen in a long, long time. Carrick bosses it in the middle of the park and RVP is linking up nicely, but our wingers are a concern again: Young's decision making is frustrating to say the least, as are his diving antics. Valencia has been non-existant again (surprise, surprise). Need to step it up a level and score a second, Sunderland could always get something from a setpiece. Other than that, we should be fine

I think last season was the anomaly...not this season.

Based on? He was very good at Wigan and gradually got better and better, he was always a menace against Evra when we played them. His first season here was very good. He was injured for nearly all of his 2nd season, but came back looking strong for the run-in. 3rd season he was outstanding. This season he was fine until December and has looked off the boil since. 3-4 months of poor form surrounded by 5 or 6 years of good form...

He hasn't really done anything wrong in this game either.

Both fair comments, but we know how poor he has been this season... we shouldn't expect his form to just do a 180, over night.

A few solid, unspectacular shifts may help him regain some confidence, and possibly... hopefully get the Valencia we all know back.

Valencia hasn't been bad at all. Young has been garbage though.

His diving antics are legendary and cannot be ironed out I'm afraid.:(

Okay I was a bit harsh on Young but he really has been completely useless. Can't wait for Nani to come on and actually do something other than get fouled and give the ball away.

I was surprised by this part really "Buttner really is making a claim of being the permanent left back in the team. "
No use of "conditional" there from you but hey a who knows what might happen from here
