Sunderland Vs Manchester United

How are Nani and Januzaj our toughest players physically, only players to not be out-muscled in that game, the rest are playing like a bunch of fannies.

I'd get in Kagawa for Rooney, play him in the hole and take Vidic off for Smalling, having a mare. We also need something to be done with the midfield, ponderous and lacking bite.. so many things wrong it is untrue.

RvP hasn't been muscled. He always uses his body wisely. Unlike Januzaj and Nani the defenders don't charge him as recklessly so he isn't fouled as often. "Safer" to be defend that way at the byline.

I can only assume Rooney's still carrying that knock to his shin. Shocking performance.

Seriously, how long before the players realise these soft floaty crosses don't work?

Not just today, this has been going on for ages, put some frigging pace on the ball! Floating in these soft high crosses only leads to one thing; easy clearances for our opponents.

21 crosses attempted, 1 completed. It's not working, and shows a complete lack of creativity.

It's ridiculous. Crossing is fine if you aim it at someone. We saw Sunderland cross a ball when they had a player clear and they nearly scored. We just aimlessly float it and hope. We're playing Dos 5 football in a world of Android.

I don't blame Moyes. This squad needs overhauling and lacks quality all over. Shit loads of 'decent' players but only 2-3 of top quality. Needed to buy big this summer but failed epicly

Replace all the central players!

Ear, or three of them!

Yeah, that'll do.c

The thing about fecking Rooney now is that you can't drag him off at HT for Kagawa without provoking another massive sulk.

Well that's just tough, I am getting sick of Rooney and his sulking. I feel sorry for all the fans who follow United to away games and give them fantastic support.

No confidence, no imagination, no substance.

Big, and I mean big, half ahead for Manchester United and David Moyes.

It's the complete lack of confidence that really worries me. When Sunderland attack a general panic takes over. When we attack the conviction is so obviously absent, besides Januzaj nobody is shooting like they believe they'll score. Literally hopeless.

Rooney has been better then RVP.

Need something through the middle. Maybe kagawa through the middle might be an option. Nani and januzaj have been tidy but in central areas we seem to struggle to find any space.

Its definitely because we conceded the early goal! Really we just are having no luck whatsoever. With that early goal conceded sunderland are pretty much happy to just sit back and defend..then counter with Johnson or altidore when possible.

I just hope our strikers get more touches and create something for us. Its much too crowded in the box and we don't have the personnel to create through the middle.

We bought big. Unfortunately that 'big' buy isn't particularly good and probably won't get played in his correct position very often.

Grim. There just doesn't appear to be any sort of tactic. We are neither play direct or looking for short passes and lots of movement. Its just nothing. We edge the ball up the pitch slowly, look for a wide player, fanny about, then either lose the ball or play in a cross which doesn't even beat the first man. I don't think there is a name for that kind of tactic.

We are 2 games in to our run of "maximum points" games, as it was put in the main forum. We're playing the worst team in the league and look completely void of ideas. Maybe we'll score one or two in the second half, but from that, I just can't see it happening.

How are Nani and Januzaj our toughest players physically, only players to not be out-muscled in that game, the rest are playing like a bunch of fannies.

To be fair Nani can be a beast when he wants to be. I still remember him shrugging off Ivanovic like it was nothing.

What are we playing at? Why the feck are we slinging in hopeless crosses? What's the point?

I've had 22 years of supporting a world class football team.

feck it, I'm in for a hard scrap against relegation. Could be fun staying up on the last day.

If it's going to be that, I will never listen to Talksport again. If we lose today they will be unbearable tomorrow.

Need to start doing the simple things correctly.... Some 5 yard passes going astray not acceptable at this level.

At the moment I can't see us turning this around. We have no threat through the middle. Our play is labored and we are 2nd to every 2nd ball. We play with no aggressiveness. Its pretty much standard United of this season.

I don't see what Moyes can do to turn it around at half time.

I've never seen a Manchester United team so clueless and devoid of ideas. None of them seem to have a clue what to do with the ball. Play it wide? Play it through the middle? Cross it? Pass it?.....They all look utterly clueless. Its no surprise that we haven't scored from open play since Swansea.

I don't know if its the tactics, or the players, or what. But its beyond worrying now.

I feel like weeping for us....
We have been sussed out. Sunderland don't even bother to block the crosses, they know we are shit at it. Very predictable football. No playmaker in there that can actually tread a pass from the middle and set RVP free. Moyes needs to make a decision here. Rooney has to change his position - it will not affect his contribution seeing that he's only good at creating chances from set plays.

Valencia in for Januzaj, switching Nani to the left, and Kagawa in for Rooney.

Or Valencia for Nani... the society Rafael-Valencia works much better.

FUCUUUUUUKKCKCKCKCKCKCKCK!!!!!!

Yep. We all know the midfield isn't good enough and the defence are playing like spastics.

There has been some good play from wide though (crossing aside).

We need an early goal in the second half if we want to kick on and win. Goes without saying we can't afford another defensive relapse.

Great save from De Gea has kept us in it.

With what's been going on, we are more likely to concede another goal

Half time teamtalk

Move the ball quicker
Press the ball
Stop putting aimless crosses into the box

Nani should have scored with that volley, but they could have had two more. Going forward we haven't been bad, but the defence needs to wake up or we could easily be further in trouble. Carrick's played some overly ambitious passes and cost us possession at times. Januzaj has been our best player.

RvP hasn't been muscled. He always uses his body wisely. Unlike Januzaj and Nani the defenders don't charge him as recklessly so he isn't fouled as often. "Safer" to be defend that way at the byline.

RVP ok maybe but there is still feck all penetration from him and Wayne. Altidore has out performed both our strikers, that guy is making Sunderland tick with his hold up play, whereas our front men are not making it stick enough to relieve the pressure.

feck me you lot.

we have made a few individual errors and it's luckily only cost us once.

We will come out all guns blazing in the second half and sort the mistakes out.Come on, how many times have we been here before? believe!

If it doesn't happen, we can have an inquest after the game.

I agree. Moyes has picked two players to play today and his decision to play them has been vindicated. Adnan and Nani have done really well this half. What I don't like is the standards of the others. These are "World Class", players and yet they are being out-performed by a Nani who has had very little match time and a young player who the manager took a gamble on. Rooney himself should be ashamed of himself, with the money he is on and the quality of his performances.

He better not have the cheek to ask for a new contract.

If Evra would just stop blindly whacking in crosses and pass it instead we might look a bit more dangerous.

I find it hard to believe that our game plan is simply to hoof it into the box at the earliest opportunity regardless of how many players are actually in the box.
