Sunderland Vs Manchester United

We've been fecking woeful in the middle today, Carrick/Cleverley/Rooney have created nothing.

Breaking down a 9 man defense has always been a huge issue for us - and any team - particularly in the first half. Just because we need to score, doesn't make it easy. The way Sunderland are running themselves into the ground, there will be way more space around the 65th minute.

If we can sneak one before that, we'll be set up well to win.

Not what we should be looking for from playing the worst team in the league, but there you go.

Valencia in for Januzaj, switching Nani to the left, and Kagawa in for Rooney.

Or Valencia for Nani... the society Rafael-Valencia works much better.

FUCUUUUUUKKCKCKCKCKCKCKCK!!!!!!

I don't think Januzaj should be coming off only player who looks confident on the ball ATM.

feck me you lot.

we have made a few individual errors and it's luckily only cost us once.

We will come out all guns blazing in the second half and sort the mistakes out.Come on, how many times have we been here before? believe!

If it doesn't happen, we can have an inquest after the game.

There's no belief there, there doesn't look to be anyway. Not from the players.

I hope your right, we have been hoping for this all season.

Maybe our Ed and our manager will realise what a big name signing would have done for this team. It gives them a real lift, like RVP did last season, how Ozil has done this season for Arsenal.
I don't think we need big signings for that, Moyes coming in should have been enough to motivate them. Players need to fix up quick, they're letting Moyes down.

We really may be fighting relegation if this goes on.
Ah get a grip, thats just RAWK bait. Even if they lose today they'll eventually get going. Players like Carrick always get better later in the season. Its just that a CL place will start looking a longshot.

Its definitely because we conceded the early goal! Really we just are having no luck whatsoever. With that early goal conceded sunderland are pretty much happy to just sit back and defend..then counter with Johnson or altidore when possible.

I just hope our strikers get more touches and create something for us. Its much too crowded in the box and we don't have the personnel to create through the middle.
It's not luck. Were just an awful team at opening teams up through passing in central areas. There are mid table sides that do it far better than us (relatively speaking) and are much more composed than us in those areas. We've got great qualities as a team but in terms of passing moves to open up space in central areas when teams press us, were very poor at it.

Januzaj's been good. De Gea made a stunning save. Shame about the rest...

Need more movement off the ball instead of everyone wanting it at feet.

To be fair Nani can be a beast when he wants to be. I still remember him shrugging off Ivanovic like it was nothing.

Out done tactically, technically I can handle.. its been an issue for years but outmuscled? its a mental issue, they're playing like they're shitting themselves or half-arsed, not sure which.

Relax, not serious just having a laugh.

Some more encouraging signs compared to the last few games. We have wingers actually capable of taking on their man for starters! Really need to sort out the crossing though. Floating crosses are shit when the only tall-ish player in the box is RvP. Need some drilled crosses or more patience to build for a better chance.

De Gea's save though. Wow!

If Evra would just stop blindly whacking in crosses and pass it instead we might look a bit more dangerous.

I find it hard to believe that our game plan is simply to hoof it into the box at the earliest opportunity regardless of how many players are actually in the box.

I'm 100% sure it's a tactic by Moyes, Evra was never like this before nor in his entire career. Evra has always been about running at defenders first and foremost and then fire a low ball inside the box. Moyes has got to be the one telling to "Cross it early son !!"

I feel like I'm living in some kind of nightmare. We've had so much possession, yet done nothing at all of note with it. What is happening to us?

Robin needs to snap out of this spell he's in at the moment. Not played well since the first game of the season and we really need some of this build up play to get converted.

No improvement by 65 minutes from either of the front two then I think Chicho deserves to get some minutes.

Yup, it's the type of cross you'd see Baines doing quite a lot.

The crossing is just horrendous, this is not 99 and we don't have Beckham and beasts in the air like Cole and Yorke. I'd rather we look for intricate through balls.

This is where Moyes earns the players respect. He just goes nuclear at half time. Forget the hair dryer, he needs a jet engine fed by a hurricane.

I think we're playing ok. In control of the match but without good final balls. I say keep playing like that half. Try Kagawa for Cleverley after the hour if things don't change much.

It doesn't help that our midfield completely shuts down when players press them.

Carrick just stands still and hopes he doesn't get tackled.

Some senior players need to start being openly subbed/dropped in response to performances like some of these guys today. Would never accuse them of not trying but it's been sluggish and they haven't concentrated well at all in that half, we need to find that sense of accountability among the players again. That fear of the threat of competition is not there, they don't even look like they want to be playing during this rut. We don't have an individual who looks like dragging us out of this.

This bullshit excuse that it's Sunderland's fault for defending with 11 men is rubbish. We started this wall by conceding a fecking ridiculous goal.

Which is why he wanted baines.

I can't believe we are in a position that if it stays like this, there might actually be serious questions about DM's future.

The press will have a field day, and I won't be able to blame them for that.

Januzaj has played well, but Carrick or Clevvs have been too static for my liking

That's the only way we know how to attack.
Yep. I reckon moyes needs to smash our style up and rebuild it piece by piece. It might take a tough season results wise but a shift in focus tactically is needed. Our players are just so used to not having to pass open teams. Were so used to the same old tired routine again and again and it's seeped very deep into the system.
