If someone mug me on the street I'd probably just let him have my wallet even when i carry a piece with me.

The financial lost of being mugged is better than the aftermath of actually shooting someone. You might still end up in jail if things go bad. And that's assuming you won the gun fight in the first place.

I dont know how on earth you need a fully automatic rifle for self defence.

House invasion would probably be when you're asleep. Your gun would be shut away somewhere and the invaders would likely have guns themselves. Not all intruders are like those in Home Alone.

I have no idea about the statistics regarding house invasions. What I do know though is that the level of and type of crime in the US is totally different from what we are used to in Europe, and certainly Norway with our 16 murders in 2017.

That is a murder statistic akin to some cities with a 100k population in the US. Just a whole different prospect altogether.
