I've started this thread in the hope that it could be regularly bumped up with every performance he has for Spurs. This way it would give us an opportunity to assess his abilities and development.

With only 3 strikers, he should get frequent playing time at White Hart Lane.

Anyway, here's an article from Tribal with quotes from Ramos. He seems to rate our Fraz.

From Tribal (edited):

Spurs boss Ramos: Man Utd's Campbell will play

Juande Ramos is pleased with Tottenham's summer market work.

"I know there is much debate about our striker options, but I look at the whole picture and not just a like-for-like exchange.

"I want creativity and attacking flair from many parts of the pitch."

Fraizer Campbell has been signed on loan as part of the Dimitar Berbatov deal, and Ramos wants to utilise the youngster's speed.

"Fraizer Campbell brings us pace, power and he's a very good goalscorer," Ramos told tottenhamhotspur.com.

"He has a good workrate and is a handful for defenders, not for the same reasons as Roman, but because of his lightning pace.

"On top of that, he's a natural goalscorer as we saw last season during his time on loan at Hull City. When you've got the ability, it gives you self-belief, and that's what he's got."

I'm a bit concerned that Fraizer wont get much playing time at Spurs. I remember when Rossi went to Geordieland and barely got a look in.

They have only Bent and Paylchenko as proper strikers but Dos Santos and Modric can play as support striker so it depends what system Ramos goes for.

I doubt he will start many games until Spurs get a couple of injuries but he should get a few substitute appearances at least. I hope he makes the most of whatever chances he gets to impress.

Good to see that it (hopefully) wasn't just a desperation exercise in taking him on loan. It looks like they'd scouted him before, and Ramos seems to like him. Hope this turns out better than Rossi's time at Newcastle.

Does anyone know whether it's a loan with first option for a permanent move, or if he's definitely coming back next season?

Saw some things saying that the only reason it's a loan is because it was so last minute, to give spurs some flexibility over the deal...

Those aren't 2 distinct options really.
There's no way anybody can say whether he's definitely coming back, even if it's just a straight loan. Conversely, if they have first option, we can still bring him back and keep him if we want.

That was when Rat Face was in charge. He didn't have a clue about anything.

He's coming back.

Campbell's not "powerful", to me. He's quick but gets hassled off the ball when under pressure. Takes tackles well, though, and isn't afraid of charging at players.

If´Ramos thinks he´s good enough then he´ll get a chance, I´m fairly sure of that.

Bent seems to be misfiring and with only Campbell and pavlyuchenko upfront he should get a few starts.

I hope he does well. We´ll see if he´s premiership class playing in a half decent team rather than a league wining side.

Im pretty sure Ramos had never heard of Fraizer Campbell - all the quotes are probably bullshit or lost in translation (never trust anything from Tribal).
Spurs have already said that they were close to signing another striker but the deal feel through at the last minute due to an agent - Campbell was set to join Steve Bruce at Wigan on loan for the year but then Spurs must have demanded Campbell from us as a last resort.

Anyway I hope I am wrong and he gets a chance to show his ability

I hope he gets enough chance to develop at Spurs. I'll be keeping a good eye on him.

It's about time he got some first team exposure.

Otherwise he may have handed in a transfer request, though for as we know that could've been the second.

There was, however a minute chance that he would have got games with us

So in the end it's all neat and tidy, like clockwork really

At least you tried.

On the face of it, a nice wind-up.

Campbell hints at Man Utd return

Tottenham loan signing Fraizer Campbell says his move from Manchester United is unlikely to be made permanent.

The 20-year-old striker moved to White Hart Lane for a season as part of the deal that took Dimitar Bervatov to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day.

But Campbell told BBC London 94.9 he is still in Sir Alex Ferguson's plans: "I've had various meetings with him and I'm in his plans for the future.

"Hopefully I can get some experience, come back and get a place in his team."

Nevertheless, the England Under-21 international is looking forward to spending the season with Spurs.

"It's an exciting time for me, it's a great loan move that I've managed to get on," he said.

This is a new season and I have to concentrate on my new loan club

Campbell came close to re-joining Hull City, where he scored 15 goals in a loan spell last season, but that deal eventually fell through.

"I enjoyed my time at Hull and I'm thankful to all the people there but this is a new season and I have to concentrate on my new loan club," added Campbell.

Think he has more of a future at the club than Rossi ever had, he has a real physical presence when he plays and you can tell he's got something about him.

Fingers crossed he gets a good few chances at spurs and takes them with open arms, its about time we had a good youth player break into the first team. If anyones going to do it, its Campbell imo.

I agree. He has pace to burn , size and intelligence in and around the box.

Was at the match on Friday when he came on. Hes a little less polished than Agbonlahor but his pace is just as frightening. Could have scored with the header, but his feet and turn on the ball is amazing. A player who can run behind defences, which is nice to see. And he just doesnt give up (which does cause him to foul occasionally but not with real malice).

He excited the crowd in his little cameo.

Starts his first match for Spurs today - kick off in half an hour on Five
