The future under Van Gaal - lay your chips

Last year under Moyes I stopped enjoying and looking forward to our games. Feel like that now. Dire.

The worrying thing is 0-0 was probably what most knowledgable Man Utd fans would have predicted against Cambridge Utd !!

He's not the man for the job.

Don't worry we won the possession.

How exactly is today his fault?? Some people are just too quick to criticise. We've seen results like this under SAF. Stop being so melodramatic!
The players on the pitch were asked to play safe against an old div 4 team. FFS wake up!

I don't think he should be sacked at all yet, but this is seriously dire right now.

Hammered by MK Dons, snook past Yeovil, held by Cambridge.

I'm very much a believer in stability and giving managers time, and there's no suggestion of LvG being at risk here.

But if he didn't have the reputation he does . . .

He's not getting more than two seasons at United. Get Guardiola in and get some actual quality in.

He got us to play like this within 2 weeks without any new player.

6 months later there's no sign of that football to come.

He became a coward and started catering for his world class player over team balance. Eventually trying to shoehorn rvp, Falcao, Rooney, Di maria, and mata all in the same team.

Rooney and Welbeck with mata in behind worked perfectly in pre-season. It was well balanced and had pace, creativity and technique amongst other things we have lacked in our current attack. Moreover, we had a natural midfielder in herrera who is currently being overlooked for reason unknown to me. Van Gaal seems to be going backward rather than forward and unless he makes some changes to his system and gameplan, I will predict we will miss out on cpl and he will get sacked be the end of the season. We are not a better team than arsenal, Southampton, Chelsea, man city and even Liverpool and Tottenham at the moment. We are just more lucky than them and have a very good keeper in de Gea.

Yeah, I don't think we'll win anything under him. Chips on the table, I think he'll eventually be sacked.

You will not get top four playing like this unless we are very lucky. Playing football at one mile an hour, passing sideways and back and creating bare few chances every game. It's been going on for too long now.

This is not good enough. This is shit football. Just shit.

Come on you can't honestly believe that?

What result under Fergie featured such a star line up?

Also let's not forget MK Dons, never happened twice in a season

I have never expected us to do anything special under van Gaal.
And I still don't.
Some almost reacted as if Sir Alex himself had returned when this guy was unveiled.

If we win a trophy in his three years I'll be surprised.

LVG has no one to blame but himself, he has installed a negative attitude within the team that has derailed any attacking confidence we had in the team.

It’s not like we were unlucky, we could easily have lost today, shocking stuff from a near full strength United team. It’s time for the manager to earn his money, so far he hasnt.

Now you're a psychic! Wow. Can you tell me next weeks lottery numbers?
Did you watch the game? You don't need to be a psychic! You just need to witness quality players are playing square and backward balls 95% of the time. That has to come from the manager or maybe they've all just decided to play it safe, maybe by the players all connecting psychically !!

Calm down little boy, tell your mummy to make you some hot chocolate, everything will be alright ok! Xx

I'd part ways with him at the end of the season to be honest, even if we get top 4.
Get Top 4 and then let another manager come in and take over, someone younger and hungry, a good technical manager.

Van Gaal is just too stubborn, its not working but he just keeps banging on about his stupid philosophy that no one believes in or cares about, even the players obviously.

If this was moyes he would be getting slated left, right and centre and people would be calling for a sacking.

But no, it's the untouchable LVG so everything's ok......Philosophy my arse

Jesus Harold Christ. He's spent £150Million and changed the philosophy of the team to a style no other top manager I can think of utilises. He will not be sacked 5-6 months into the season.

Remember when SAF said we needed to support our new manager? I think this was the sort of scenario he was envisioning (rather than the horror show from Moyes last year).

We aren't performing well at the minute but we're still on course for our season's objectives. Talk of LVG being in trouble is ludicrous.

Give him until the end of the season - only a trophy or a C.L-spot can save him.

I feel like I was sold a dream. When Moyes was sacked and LVG was to replace him, all I read on the Caf was how Van Gaal gets his teams playing good football, and that even if the results don't come straight away, it will be enjoyable. I thought the Netherlands were a boring side to watch at the WC, but I shrugged it off because I thought there squad was bang average.

It's just painful to watch us at times. Going into every game, I see the quality we have on paper and think, maybe today it will click but it's just been shit football. No one likes ugly football, but I could take it if we had the same results as we have this season, ugly but a hell of a lot more convincing. I think we've rode our luck a lot and I have no idea what direction LVG wants to take the club, apart from more possession,

This is the total football, every player out of position :) and Phil Jones as a Pirlo

i think it's more down to the players underperforming rather than the manager.

I don't think whether I'm pro or anti van Gaal matters that much. And neither does it matter what you guys think, to be honest. This team is not good enough for top 4. The chances of us getting top 4 are around 15% and that's the deciding factor on van Gaal's future. If, and I believe it's more of a "when" than "if", this team finishes below 4th - I doubt van Gaal will stick around.
