And in our last match against MCFC, which we lost - does that count as a loss?

Giving Jose a new contract to tie him in, then denying him any money to spend didn't look right.
However, if a takeover from a Super Rich family was in the offing, surely the Glazers would be thinking, 'let's not spend, let them do it, after the deal'.
They would then take a bigger dividend and the books look great, increasing the value of the company.
I could be wrong but if I am, top 4 is a big ask for this squad, and make no bones, Jose will have told Woodward this too

Id lose most of my passion for the club if we got taken over by Saudi royals, having lived in Saudi Arabia for several years and experienced first hand how non-Saudi's get treated. I'd still follow the club, but I would never go to a game ever again and probably only watch games on TV every once in a while.

Many people may disagree, but they will be supporters of the 'top' clubs. Football will never be over. The problem is that the way it is set up hinders a proposed owner willing to take a chance on one of the lesser lights. Surely it would be better if there were far more teams with money to spend.
I've heard that the rules are there to prevent a 'Leeds' re-occurring, what a load of twaddle. Leeds are still going last time I looked.

City don't fill their Stadium either, but it is in the records as sold out every time.

Heavily tied in? Don’t make me laugh. The only partnerships we have with them are one STC and they’re a regional telecom partner, we’re not getting more than 6 figures per annum from that deal. The other is the MoU with Saudi vision 2030, again that’s not a global partnership, at most it might be worth low 7 figures per year. But yes let’s pretend those two relatively tiny deals is the same as you lot having billions pumped into you.

Saudi Telecom are owned by the Saudi government. You also have a strategic partnership with the General Sports Authority of Saudi Arabia.

There is also sponsorship with Aeroflot owned by Putin's government.

What I'm saying is, you're already receiving money from SA govt. and other companies owned by spurious countries, and it doesn't appear to be a problem for you.

United earn and receive more money than City, so money that City get shouldn't be your complaint.

Or their deal with Aeroflot.

I don’t think that makes any difference. United have loads of fans who know nothing other than success and they never get tired of it.

Fans like to win. If the team wins, they’re happy.
 
Can someone summarise why this thread is a thing? Wasn't the club being sold ruled out by the owners 5 minutes after this thread was first started?

Leeds are one of the biggest clubs in England, yet they've been outside the top flight for over a decade because of reckless spending. That can easily happen to most clubs if they get bought by reckless owners.

Unfortunately, this is very true. Makes me cringe everytime I see that Aeroflot logotype. Why an english football team should fly around using a Russian airline beats me (money , of course). But I think that one has to draw the line somewhere. If United were to be bought out by the Saudis that would render it impossible to support the club anymore, knowing that the money used to buy new players etc would essentially be blood money.

The problem is we have no promise of potential new owners being any better than the Glazers and could potentially be worse owners.

The Glazers will just sell to the highest bidder at the end of the day.
 
I hope Phillip isn’t bullshitting us. We arguably need owners who give more of a feck about the onfield stuff.

Whilst the Glazers typically left us alone and kept out of the spotlight during the Sir Alex days (apart from transfer funds possibly), they don’t seem too interested in getting us back up there again with the money they’ve made.

He's the guy that has interviewed Ed Woodward and had Daniel Taylor vouching for him regards reliabilty. He also got the exclusive interview when we signed Lukaku with Uniteds blessing. He's had many ex United players on his radio show/podcasts.

There is a certain logic to that. The fix is so big the Glazers would do well to cash out.
 
What’s to stop another set of owners coming in and buying the club with borrowed money. We could end up a couple of billion in debt this time. Shit can always get worse.

Plus if they wanted to sell they could just float the club on the stock market. They wouldn’t have to find a private buyer. This is utter bullshit
