Wanyama probably should have done better after recieving the ball rather than panic and lose it as a result of that. Ultimately it was down to Lloris as you say though.

Gutting really, was hoping it would end 1-1. Chelsea winning done us no favours.

For some reason we do seem to lose our heads against Chelsea, after going level we should of stuck and controlled. Wanyama was bust, Dier should of stayed on for Son with winks coming on after we went level.

I don't think there's any major cause for concern for Spurs because they tend to start each season fairly slowly before coming in strong - it's probably cost them the league in the last two seasons.

They're definitely a more ordinary side without Walker and Rose because they're completely stripped of pace. They really need Rose back fit and focused to help inject those qualities back into the side.

They'll have a good season, probably third or fourth, but I don't see them seriously troubling either Manchester club. I think Chelsea can stage a challenge if their squad holds out because yesterday showed that the players are pulling for Conte.

If you can keep the spine of Pogba, Matic and Lukaku fit I see no reason you couldn't win the League. It all depends how far you go in the CL. Zlatan is massively important I think for you he would be a massive boost at Christmas. Matic so far looks like the signing of the window for sure.

Perhaps it's the result of years of unperformance after Fergie's retirement, but I'm still not sure we'll win it this year - I'd be happy with a real challenge and playing quality football. I know people talk about Jose's second season, but I get the feeling everything is set up for him to do a slightly longer than usual stint at United, so I don't think it's imperative we win it this season - but we do need to show real development.

Funny thing is, that lack of pressure on us may be telling if we do get to the run-in with a chance. I suspect we as a club would be more relaxed than City, who I think really need to win this season.

Your season will hinge on getting Rose back in and getting someone like Aurier for the RB slot - despite the baggage, he's a great attacking full back.

I agree with the pressure thing, but I honestly am still not convinced with either City's defence or Pep in the PL. I still don't think he has grasped that lower teams, even relegation teams can hurt you. Jose knows that, and one thing he never does is under estimate an opponent. Don't get me wrong I don't think you will run away with it, I honestly think it's wide open with maybe 3-4 clubs but IMO experience with players in the PL, winners and probably the best manager in Jose United will defeintely be challenging. I'm not WUMMING by the way, and I don't particularly like Jose but he knows what he's doing.

Last season I think there was a point he choose to go after the League cup obviously moreso the EL and sacrificed the league. It was an incredably smart move. Risky yes but ballsy.

It's amazing how many alerts I get each time Spurs lose a game, which luckily isn't often.

I thought we played fairly well today. It was similar to the semi final in that we maybe deserved to win, but came away with nothing. Wanyama didn't have a good game, Lloris was at fault for their second goal but that aside I'm reasonably happy with how we played.

Well it's not like your going to get an alert each time Spurs win a trophey now is it?

I think it's fair to say Chelsea isn't the best barometer of how Spurs will perform at Wembley. Let's see after 4/5 home games to get a better judgment.

Yep, agree with this. And I know that 3 points is a lot better than just 1 for a draw, and in some ways I admire Pochettino for going for the win, but in our first league game at Wembley a draw would of been really OK.

Let's not get carried away here and evaluate after 5-6 games. Didn't think we deserved the victory yesterday but a draw would have been fair, Conte got his tactics exactly right and unfortunately we couldn't get through. Poch made a few tactical mistakes and Lloris had a mare. No need to panic.

Fair post, didn't mean to put you on Glaston's level earlier, mate. I just sometimes find you a little 'cultish' with your assessment of how the club is run (as your username well suggests).

I thought it was the right move at the time, Dier was on a yellow and not offering much in the way of an attacking threat, not to mention Chelsea had 11 men behind the ball, Son was probably the right move. After him they had literally no one they could bring in with the power to influence the game, such is the lack of depth in the squad. That's the issue with Spurs, though, if plan a fails to bare fruit, they don't have much in the way of a backup plan.

I am 100% sure we're going to win the league this season, then again I say that every year. Agree with Ibra joining in January being a huge boost, his influence in the dressing room alone is worth it's weight in gold.

Ha yeah the name is a little "cultish" but I will never say he has done no wrong. He's trying to do what United done when the PL was established, basically increase revenue as much as he can, IMO we have a core following bigger than Chelsea and City, so if we can expand on that and be self reliant, like United, it's the best way to progress. Let's face it without big backing owners Chelsea and City wouldn't be where they are. Fair play to them but I'm just happy with where Spurs are at right now.

What are you thoughts on the CL? Or is it all out PL?

Personally I'd be happy to compete for domestic honours above all else, the CL is a distant second in terms of priority. Just feel we need to asert some form of dominance on the homefront before we could even consider bigger, more prestigeous honours.

And yeah I make you right, not sure we have a squad capable of challenging on all 4 fronts - few teams do in all honesty - so any form of a run in the CL will likely have an adverse affect on our league position. Similar to last season with regard to the Europa interfering with our league form.

Can't see them doing anything of note this season and will be no-where near 2nd place.

19 away games, and 19 games at a neutral venue. They aren't doing anything.

No-one is going to fear playing Spurs at Wembley, the complete opposite of WHL which they made a real fortress.

Tough Champions League group draw
About those CL aspirations...

Serves them right. Group stages last year, then thought the EL was beneath them. Out by Christmas again.

So much for that second placed finish.

In fairness, I expect neither Dortmund or Madrid will be ecstatic about the draw either. All three will have to work hard, & the pressure will be more on Real Madrid than the others as they will be expected to progress.

You just know Real will go through anyway. Dortmund and Spurs to battle for #3 while Apoel gets 2nd place.

A lot depends on which Dortmund show up.
Spurs have enough to beat them.

Think they can beat Dortmund tbh, the group isn't so hard that they're automatically out.

They need to show something better in Europe this season anyway.

Tottenham's season just got tougher. Firstly wembley effect and hard ucl group, And if get knocked out by finishing 3rd than europa league with Arsenal in it. Who knows if they repeat the same form again or fight for 4th too?

Well you'll get 4 great games against the cream of europe so its not all bad
