The Spurs thread

Why the feck is Glaston in this thread posting right now

is he some kind of masochist?

"My team just lost the best chance we've had of winning a league title in my lifetime, I know, I'll go immediately onto a forum where everyone thinks I'm a cnut"

In all seriousness, I do think Spurs will challenge for the league again next season. They already have a very good squad and I doubt they'll lose any of their big players.

They're probably the best bet for top four next season at the moment.

Realistically Spurs aren't going to top this season, they've lost what 4 games all season? They don't have the players to keep that up next season as well

Top 4 maybe, genuine title challengers nah not for me

 You'll be lucky to finish in the top 6.

It's virtually hundred per cent certain we will win the league before Tottenham do. Your best ever PL season ends with a title race that never was finishing 2 weeks before the league is over because you cannot even keep up with Leicester.

Err ... it's our level because we've qualified for it next season and have deserved to do so.

Yep and you will be there to make up numbers and concede 5 goals to Real Madrid again.

At least Glaston is on here taking the flak, rather than crying into his pillow.

However, may I suggest his view of Spurs as a contender cannot be taken seriously for the performance of just this one year when they've yet to nail second spot

I'd say West Ham with an almost free brand new stadium have a better future than Spurs who just like Arsenal are going to have to pay for it themselves and look what that did for them

It's not about Spurs being Good but rather United being run by a moron and that's very sad. You should get more satisfaction from your team. Enjoy it! That does't seem to be the case. So why not just admit you are a United fan and get with the fecking program. Spurs play some nice stuff but it really don't matter what we think. We're all congratulating Leicester City, but their fans are probably getting drunk - not giving two shits what we say. United - once they get rid of LVG, will be fine but like with Spurs, it will be based on youth which takes a little time. You'd think you'd be happy topping Arsenal, you are too much.

Understand that most people don't even care because they watched United all season and know exactly why we're 17 points behind. You can attempt to wind people up, but there is nothing you can take from us? We've had to put up with LVG the past two seasons. We have nothing to give. LVG's fecking about has made most of us immune.

 Leicester City are 17 points ahead of United
Yep, and out of your reach in the only title race you've ever had in PL era. As I say, when we do it we do it right. When you do it, you do it shite.

They've had to deal with Europa League up until March. I think they'll be alright if they add a couple of players to improve the starting eleven. Pochettino has a style of play that he expects all of his players to be able to play and that will help him identify players that he can get the best out of.

When you look at where everyone else is at the moment, Spurs look like they're in pretty good shape for next season.

Ah so when you talk derogatory about United's level your talking short term then?

Two seasons out of the last 3 outside of the top 4 for United - when does short term become medium term?

Well done to the trendsetters for still winning nothing.
Congrats!

Next season they'll have UCL though

As for transfers they didn't go mad last summer and tbh the last time they did they didn't buy well (albeit the likes of Lamella have come good 2 years on)

@GlastonSpur

Not sure if I dislike Spurs because of this guy's sheer arrogance, or because they've become a threat.
Wait, no fairly sure it's the former.

Usually I'd have sympathy for them given that they've been quite entertaining this season (not as entertaining as LCFC though) - but feck them. Their players lost the plot today and it was hilarious to see.

You have my sympathies for getting shit on from the fools' gallery tonight, but you're really stretching for your point here.

Just outside of your chosen period, United were champions and in the final year of the most successful period ever in their history.

And that's leaving aside the whole 'the past three years, except for that one year in the middle that contradicts what I'm saying' thing.

Medium term can be like 8 years - the last time Spurs won something - the League Cup.

For long term you can try 25 years - the last time Spurs won anything else bar the LC.

And there is the Spurs terms - 55 years the last time you guys won the championship.

Yep and you will be there to make up numbers and concede 5 goals to Real Madrid again.

Reaching the QF was hardly "making up the numbers".

Speaking of numbers, how many thousands of miles will it be to Qabala FK for United next season?

United are too big to simply go away. If Mourinho is brought in they'll be up there challenging. Ferguson created a monster over the last two decades and it's going to take more than a couple of bumpy seasons to see them fall away.

United are one of those clubs that will always be up there one way or another.

And how many times have Spurs qualified for the UCL over the past 30 years?

You can't have it both ways, if United's level is now Europa League because of the last 3 years then Spurs' arent suddenly a level above because of 1 year

Can you actually make a single post without deflecting to United? This is not even a thread about United. We've had enough success to survive a couple of years without trophies.

Incredible how bullish you can be about another team playing in Europa League when it's the only European competition you've ever seen bar one season

United have won as many titles in the last 6 years as Spurs have won in their entire history. That is the same time period that Glaston was proclaiming to show good Spurs have become.

United are dire right now,but historically they have always had the fight in them to get back. We have been written off so many times before even at the height of our powers. What is one more silly prediction?

I'd say it's easier to cope with the Champions League than the Europa League.

Given how well they've done this season, you can see why they didn't feel the need to buy many players. Pochettino felt that he had enough to compete for the Champions League places and he was right. We'll see how their summer goes and judge in September obviously, but I think they'll be up there again.

I get what you're saying but if he wasn't here right now you'd be calling for him to appear as well or laugh that he'll go into hiding for a couple of months. He can't win in a situation like this to be fair.

Incredible how critical of Spurs you can be when we're likely to finish ahead of 6 teams that have spent mega-mega-bucks compared to us.

This is the last place you should hanging out today Glaston, have a beer with your mates. Spurs had a superb season and would be back next season even stronger. Hopefully we're back too and challenging at the top of the table.

Yeah, he's pretty much a punching bag for the community here.

I guess the fact he sticks around and only really responds to the more abusive posts means he likes it on some level.

He dishes it out, its only fair he gets it back too. If he actually acted like a rational human being most of the year he'd get sympathy not abuse.

They've been really good to watch this season. They have been impressive in the last 4-5 weeks.

They played well at Anfield, battered us at the Lane, spanked Stoke and played well for 45 mins at the Bridge today.

The challenge for them is to not do a Liverpool from 13/14 and be able to juggle CL football with the PL (won't be resting players for the CL like with the EL).
