Doesn’t Kane normally get injured around about now? Might be one of those weird feelings of football

Yeah. Giving him any minutes at all in pointless cup matches was seriously negligent management.

That's a bit of nonsense.

His injuries belong to this game where he got butchered by Thiago, the Merseyside butcher, and him rolling on the other ankle when competing for ball in the air.

They didn't play last week PL round. He only played not even a full half on Monday. That's well rested in top level football if anything.

It's just weird phenomenon, like a curse, with Kane injuries around this time of the year.

He clearly has weak ankles though. He’d have had to complete full training sessions to play that half hour against whatever lower league team you played on the weekend (genuinely can’t remember off the top of my head).

A sustained period of rest could have made a huge difference.

Professional footballers train regardless of whether they're selected for the match day squad or being left at home.

Tottenham related. Reguilon didn't play their FA Cup game yet got injured between that and this Liverpool game. It happens. Nothing to do with tiredness, being overplayed.

He historically has had an issue with his ankles so he is never far away from an injury . Apparently he landed poorly after an aerial challenge to damage the right ankle after a previous challenge from Thiago had aggravated the left ankle. His ankles could shorten his career !!

Spurs never beat Liverpool, doesn’t matter what the respective teams are like.

They’re almost as bad as Everton for losing to them.

Kane gets injured every season. I swear Spurs have spent 2 months at least every season playing with Son as striker instead of him due to injury for the last 4 or even 5 years or so.

Of course he could get injured at any time but literally any sports psychologist will tell you that tiredness does make an athlete far more likely to pick up an injury. Combine that with Kane’s history of frequently picking up injuries during the busiest period of the season and it just seems like it’s not a risk worth taking.

What's good about that? Poch had them finishing top 4 in 4 of his 5 full seasons in charge.

They are basically a Top4-8 English club that for some reason think they are one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Mainly because the UCL final of 19 (after a literal miracle in the semis).

Delusions of grandeur.

I still think they have decent players. Maybe need a CB and RB and MF.

It is Mourinhos shithouse tactics that are stifling them.

I don't think any fan would say we are one of the biggest in Europe...

What are we expecting tonight then, Son through centre or Vincius given a proper chance with a start?

Son done brilliantly filling in for Kane through the middle for last 3-4 years but I wonder....without Eriksen and Dele Alli anymore threading clever little balls through the two CBs will he be as effective centrally in Mourinho system?

He barely touched the ball second half of the Liverpool game so that has to be a huge concern considering it was Henderson and Phillips at the back.

This season Kane has been a due killer number 9 finisher and a ridiculously creative number 10 playmaker (even for the Son VAR goal v Liverpool it was Kane playing it through) so that is a huge void now unless Ndombele is just going to morph into an assist machine for next few weeks to continue his improvement.

I'd probably keep Son on the left tbh as Spurs really don't have much creativity centrally anymore.

The Spurs are among the 15 clubs that want to create the new Euro Superleague or whatever the hell that is. Congratulations to Levy for making the Spurs a Top15 European club on paper. Smoke and mirrors, though.

Who the feck has ever said we think Spurs are one of the biggest clubs in Europe?? I've never, ever heard a Spurs fan claim that in my entire life.

Methinks you are talking shite.

Wasn't Glaston claiming on here a while back Spurs were more attractive prospect than Bayern Munich for players?

I knew Bale was a busted flush. So much hype for his arrival, only for him to look like a pub player.

Are you a Spurs fan?

Actually, Spurs really is one of the biggest clubs in the Europe. It’s not something to feel uncomfortable to your supporters. The reason is quite simple because EPL clubs have great financial resources and impact in the world football, all due to the most successful broadcasting business of any sports.
Your club just built a new stadium, a very nice one. Just need to win trophies to solidify your statue in many years coming. That’s the difficult part to be one of the legendary clubs, but you are already one of the biggest.

Being one of the richest clubs doesn't mean we are one of the biggest. We are a relatively big team in England and a pretty small to medium one in European terms.

Mourinho will be gone before the end of season.

Eddie Howe in!

Well, as I tried to explain IMO, big doesn’t equal to legendary. But of course, it’s ambiguous. A lot of people feel “big club” should only be used on the legendary and iconic clubs. I understand that. No arguing about this really. Again, I will use big club for those powerful ones in the current football world. EPL has quite a few.

Eddie Howe Jesus Christ no

That was tongue in cheek, a throwback to the time when Glaston was lecturing us for persisting with a dinosaur in Mourinho when we should be sacking him and appointing Eddie Howe.

Seriously though, both Mourinho and Bale are finished at this level. Spurs should be moving them both on, appoint a fresh blood. Ralph Hasnhuttl would be a great appointment.

TBF, Potter has done amazing work to build a team playing nice and positive football with the players they have. It’s like they copycat certain pep’s mancity system.
it’s just unfortunate that they lack of better forward. As hard as Maunpay works, they deserve a better one.
White looks really good.

I said it before in the beginning October 2019, this spurs team need to be rebuilt again and was behind Man United in term of rebuilding process, as time passed, I was right. Too many average defenders and average midfielders in 2019/2020. They managed to sign Reguilon & Hojbjerg in the summer but still long way to go. Spurs and Mourinho just can’t work together, need manager who can work with small budget and knows how to turn Dele Alli back to his best again because him back to his best is like saving lot of money for spurs especially for their attack.

Jose will be there come the end of the season, dont see him being shipped out just yet. Will he be there next season remains to be seen however.

They remind me a bit of our 08-09 team, albeit we were better but the the spine of the team is so similar that once you take away the spearheads of this team (Kane or Son or both) it would've have been like us losing Gerrard & Torres and not being anywhere near close to 2nd that year.

 You had Alonso and Macherano, they have nobody in midfield. Kuyt can at least cover striker role if Torres is injured.

Arsenal have young players like Gabriel, Tierney, Saka, Smith rowe & Martinelli for their rebuilding project long term, 5 of them are 23 or under 21. Complete opposite with spurs, they have too many average players they need to replace and players who are not young anymore for rebuilding project.

I think they need to start thinking what’s the plan here. Trying to maximise Son & Kane ability until they reach their final prime age of their career or selling them now with good money and use the money to invest on young players to start and rebuild the team again. Too bad, the timing for the stadium project and when they used to have very good team in 2015-2018 collide. What a waste, they had good team in those years to win the league.

They have enough very very good players. If it’s Rodgers in charge, I guess most of people will feel they can play much better and be a real force in the league.
But as many said already, many of their key players are already at peak. The next season or two the team will drop more level because many are on course passing peak. The rebuild is unavoidable and urgent. Who believe Jose can rebuild a team in a midterm project? He has not shown that ability in his career as I know.

Maybe it's just me but feels like Spurs haven't been the same since they drew that game against Palace, think if they had held on in that game then they go to Anfield in a much more positive mindset
