The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

I realize it’s not true:lol: But without being an expert on American politics, I sense that there are a vast amount of Trumpites who will bow to anything he says.
Wasn't saying you think it's true, just that there is an increasing obviousness that he's talking nonsense regarding Russia and Putin. The latest poll numbers on the topic of Trump and Russia support the idea that yes, some people will believe anything Trump says but that number is likely also declining.

Whether it changes their voting is still TBD. Lesson learned from 2016 is that it's very easy to overestimate people.

The problem previously is that McConnell wouldn't allow these sort of bills, even if they were bipartisan, to proceed to a full vote in order to protect Drumpf. At this point however, and with Trump's appalling capitulation to Putin last week, the sentiment may have changed.

Again, I’ll be shocked if McConnell brings this to the floor. It’ll be the same excuses: “at this stage I don’t think it is necessary and until something happens that won’t change...”

I don’t know whether McConnell is compromised or just a partisan cnut that will do anything to cover for anyone in his party but I don’t expect anything less than another block from him.

Gotcha.

I haven’t seen any polls, but I hope they are true. Again, speaking as someone living far away from the US, as much as I want him gone, I somehow think there are far more people than we care to imagine who don’t give a feck about US-Russia politics or any of the other appaling shit he’s done, but just prefer Republicans, whatever it costs. Just recently I read or saw somewhere that he polled at around 43-44%. I mean, what the feck.

If I'm reading it right, the proposed legislation is to put that requirement into place, as in it doesn't already exist.

Really? Where are you reading that? Surely Trump would furiously reject any such proposal.

It’s standard procedure. >50% and the legislation is passed by the senate but requires ratification by the president. >66% is senate confirmed and requires no ratification by the president.

Trump has already had a senate passed bill on his desk which sanctioned Russian oligarchs which he refused to sign.

Hardest ever President on Russia.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I don’t think he will leave, though, just as I don’t think every Republican senator would sign off on it if he tried.

That tweet Pexbo linked to above. Alongside a bunch of new sanctions and protections against Russia, it also includes "Senate approval requirement for U.S. withdrawal from NATO".

But yes, there is little chance of it passing.

CNN playing one of the Cohen tapes right now. Tweets imminent.

The cnut is now giving welfare to the US farmers adversley affected by his tariffs.
Take away the benefits for poor black folks though, that's bad welfare.

It's so fecking laughable. No doubt he'll soon be saying China or Germany are paying for the subsidies.

The US farmers are drowned in government $ anyhow, they won't notice a slight increase

Hate to say it, but those jackasses in the flyover states helped put him in office. They need to reap what they sowed. No sympathy from me. Decisions have consequences.

Not to mention those who voted for Trump have for years had the libertarian attitude of personal responsibility for dealing with your own problems and not relying on government handouts etc. Until it turns out they need those handouts, and that people who were struggling weren't just struggling because they were lazy or didn't work hard enough.

They won't see it that way unfortunately.

Found these posts on RAWK:
Trump knows for certain that Russia are going to either influence or downright hack the elections in November again to try and keep the Congress Republican controlled and is already rolling out the pre-made excuses.

"Yes, the Russians influenced our elections but in favor of the Democrats!"
"Where's the special council investigating the Democrats??"
"Russia tried to help the Democrats but failed!! Collusion! #CrookedHillary"
I've long suspected that Russia's next play would be to back the dems in November. This time leaving plenty of smoking guns to delegitimise what would probably have been a comfortable victory anyway. Nothing would destabilise America as much as that, while keeping the puppet in the white house.
