The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

In the world of a core Trump supporter they have a very narrow window into what's going on anywhere at any given time, we all do really but nowhere near as narrow as them.

Combine it with decades if not centuries of propaganda and prodding and probing and echo chambers to manipulate and solidify views that they've never felt the need to challenge because they don't see outside of it and they're beyond help.

Trump's rise to power is the inevitable consequence of American culture, from Westerns to pro wrestling to business philosophy. Little other explanation is needed than that.

His rise to power was due to failure of candidates from both parties to address real needs of people. Sure he lied and invoked fears. This is what demagogues do.
History is full of such politicians.
True enough, mate. Effectively, it's like Mike Tyson's humorous remark from some years ago: "I'm tired of getting f*cked over by the same old people; so now I'm going to get f*cked over by some new people."

That bloke has deliberately put "Islam suck's" on his shirt to bait tedious pinko grammar snowflakes like me!

Its very important to remember both parties demonised in one way or another voters they saw as not fitting into their own demographics.

People who voted for Trump and just take his side are not evil.
He is playing on their fears. scapegoating. As we know fear is the root of hatred.

We have seen this scenario before. And in the worst case how it can end in..death camps.

Any new leader must speak to what is decent in all of us. Obama did. Unfortunately he lacked the courage. Now he is endorsing 'centrists'

How is this going to resonate? How will the lives of so many millions be improved by repeating this strategy.

Millions need help Now.

The former British Labour MP Ed Balls (who switched to reality shows after he lost the election) has done a series for the BBC called "Travels in Trumpland". Which tackles the question of why do Trump's voters still like him.

Worth watching for anyone (who can get BBC) who wants to literally see the wrestling showbiz phenomena in action. It also includes sequences with other groups, like military veterans. That core vote will vote for him again and in the show you can understand their reasoning, even if you think they're being conned, lied to and having their prejudices boosted, as part of the sales pitch.
Is it on iplayer now?

That man must be a joy to talk to in real life. I imagine just about anything would piss him off.

I think he's the real life version of this guy

I almost think these rallies are a set up by Kelly to get him out of the white house so they can get some vital things done.

Ivanka is clearly trying to walk the line between being part of her dad's team and appealing to the larger masses to ensure political viability if things indeed go very sour for Donnie. The amount of people I've talked to who voted Trump and gave as one of the reasons that his daughter (sorry Tiffany) and wife are hot is pretty disturbing.

BTW Coats has some balls again. It seems pretty clear now that Trump s new strategy is making it seem like interference now is an actual concern rather than in 2016 to explain away likely big losses to the Dems. Coats clearly fired some shots at Trump again (imho) by saying interference was bigger and more coordinated in 2016 and that this was a continuing effort. That's at least how I read his comments.
