Top 4 race 2016/17

Arsenal really have 10 players out of contract at the end of next season. How and why does a club of that stature wait that fecking long to renew THAT many player contracts? Reeks of lack of structure at the top. Maybe it's that way because Wenger's controlling everything. Awful.

Wenger not announcing his future is holding these contracts back, imo.

Just not consistent enough to get top 4. Even when other sides slip up and we have chances to make up ground I have no faith in this team's ability to put other teams away and do the business consistently in front of goal. The draws have really killed it for us.

I have to politely disagree here. We look pretty consistent to me, if it's tumescent home draws & not enough goals you're after.

I'm just surprised we've kept up our great defense from last year and are still picking up results considering all our injuries.

Dembele, Rose, Vertonghen, and Alderweireld have only managed to start about 2 games together all season.

It would be nice to see us actually get to play our real first XI at some point this year...hopefully Kane and Rose come back soon.

Yep, we complain about injuries and lack of funds but Spurs have had it bad all season, pretty much. I was uber confident Spurs would bottle top four but they haven't. In fact, a bit more luck with injuries and could have been real title contenders.

Seems like the PL has just become the hardest, meanest league ever in its history. Or any league's history.

Different ball game unfortunately, don't see any manager getting 3 years of no success at this club in today's game, regardless of how good they are. I don't necessarily agree with it, but that's how it is

I dont think Fergie would have lasted in todays game. I mean his first few years at United.

Not a chance, he would have been fecked off after two years, three at most. Then again, it's a results business now, too much money involved, a lot more difficult for clubs to be patient.

I'm actually getting concerned about us (United) finishing 7th now.

Changes everything if you win the EL, two cups in the first season + CL football.
Yup, should have specified league season. Because winning Europa would alleviate most of the pain, obviously.

League Cup doesn't matter much in my book though. It's barely a notch above the Charity Shield, and a non-factor when evaluating a season.

Wasn't it a last minute goal in the cup against Forset that saved him ?

I want to hunt the goal scorer down and do bad things to him.

It sure does but some people like to pretend that we have no shot at winning the EL and would rather just overreact and be drama queens.
You're clear favourites for that imo. You're more than capable of beating everyone else still in it. I'm just hoping that Leicester don't pull off a miracle and win the CL, making 4th place irrelevant if United finish 6th and win Europa.

That sounds like me pressing "Next" in FM a bit too much and forgetting to negotiate contracts. :P

I don't think so. He didn't have to wait until right now to extend them. It could have been last year or earlier. Plus players agree new terms regardless of managerial regimes all the time.

Liverpool and United are trying to out-do one another so hard that Arsenal will end up getting top 4.

75 is the magic number! have a feeling arsenal will Get in and Liverpool will lose out just because of injuries and Klopp trying to defend leads now.

Liverpool really giving us and Arsenal a sniff, away games coming up against Stoke and West Brom followed by Palace at home who have done ok at Anfield in recent seasons (and will need the points)

Just have a feeling Arsenal are going to pip someone to that 4th place. City and Liverpool need to watch it. Whenever Arsenal feel that 4th spot slipping away, they usually raise their game.

They're ridiculously good at raising their game to get 4th and going on winning runs to close out the season.

We are level on points with Arsenal and behind them only on goal difference.

We are 6 points behind Liverpool but with 2 games in hand, we will be level with them if we win those games.

It's a very tight race. Even City's CL qualification is in jeopardy. 3rd to 6th is super close, there's nothing much in it.

Goal difference could be the decider, it's about time we started thrashing teams.

Given up on United winning the title then, have we?

I know you are already delusional, but that ain't happening bud.

I'll be livid if at this stage Arsenal finish top 4 and we don't

It'll be completely inexcusable

Very hard to see Spurs not finishing top 4 now ... not with an effective 12 point lead over Arsenal in 5th, even with their game in hand.

I can't deal with this league anymore. Every time I'm ready to give up, they just pull me back in. Our rivals are kinda weak as well, like us
It's a good thing that Leicester is so far behind now. I wouldn't have been surprised if they'd caught up with the form they're in now. :)

It was the same last year as well, and just like last year we'll just miss out.

Maybe Arsenal can challenge Liverpool but I doubt it. Chelsea, Spurs, City, and most likely Liverpool will make top 4. I wouldn't rule us out just yet, but we are not playing well at the moment and would have needed 9 points against WBA, Everton and Sunderland. Our best chance is definately the EL.

Liverpool are done. Bar the formality of the Everton result they have been shit since december and with Mane out for the season they don't look capable of winning games.
