Top 4 race 2016/17

Good choice mate, since you were having a mare trying to understand things.

No offence but to put it politely you're not the brightest, so let's stick to the football, ball, 2 different colours and a net at either end, happy days.

By the same token, If Roman owned Liverpool in particular, I bet half the Utd supporters on this forum, defending their new second-favourite club or keeping a discreet silence, would be be all over him (and I do accept that some Utd fans do criticise him now).

And, on a related note, had City not similarly been taken over by a uber-rich tyrant I bet you wouldn't be posting what you just did.

it's a funny old world, eh.

Chelsea had their money long before us and I didn't care than either. Was I jealous? Of course, did I make a song end dance about Romans background, no.

If yourself or other people think roman is the first shady guy in football they need to cop on.
It's a guarantee every club and it's owners have skeletons in their closet.

That Kane injury could be crucial. Ffs, bad luck with injures this season, that's the last thing we needed.

Though should be OK now Janssen is in free scoring form

Top 4 isn't happening for United is it?

Teams above us keep winning and when they don't, we slip up ourselves. Winning the Europa League feels like our only shot to me

We only have ourselves to blame to be honest.....we have had numerous chances to be back into the top four and blown each and everyone of them.....

Realistically we should be aiming for the Europa League...

Kane might be over for a long time, while Liverpool look so fecking poor. Both and you can still finish in the top 4.

Kane injury will have a big part to play. If he is out for 2 months, then I've got to say, I'm optimistic. With Jansen up front they're a shadow of a team.

Nope. We can't beat the lower midtable sides, never mind the top 6, most of whom we still have to play away from home.

We only have ourselves to blame if we don't make it. That Bournemouth games sums us up. Spunking away of points.

We're not out of it. We have two games in hand on Liverpool which would effectively draw us level with them if we can win them.

I do think our best chance is winning the Europa League though. We should be beating any of the teams left in it over two legs or a final.

I wouldn't be all that bothered if we go out of the FA Cup tomorrow.

We aren't getting CL via the league, we just haven't been good enough this season.

Liverpool are shite now but their excellent start will see them creep over the line.

Can't see us or Arsenal getting 4th.

One of Liverpools worst performances of the season.
Not even hinting at finding a solution to it all

They had the same situation earlier on in the season. Eriksen, Alli and Son will pop up with goals if he's out.
As mentioned, nobody to blame but ourselves. Too many points dropped against piss poor sides and we've failed to capitalise on feck ups above us time and time again.

Oh aye, if we get top four it will be through sheer luck. Inexcusable, the points dropped against shite teams.

The only two things that are positive are that Kane walked off the pitch (as opposed to being stretchered off like last time) and that if he were to miss (for example) six weeks, he would be missing the Southampton, Burnley, Swansea, Bournemouth and Watford games.

Any longer than that and we're in even more trouble.

Although it looked similar to last time in the slow-mo it also seems different. This time he wasn't showing a great deal of pain and he walked away without even too much of a limp.

Fingers crossed this could be a sprain without ligament damage or a straight forward twist.

Need to win our next four games to give ourselves any chance, if we don't then it's just not going to happen.

Left the stadium with crutches and cast.

Slim chance now but you really never know, end of season unfolds unexpectedly for too many teams historically.

Let's look at the remaining fixtures of Tottenham, City, Liverpool, Arsenal and us. Chelsea is going to win the league, never mind about top 4 so I'm going to leave them out. I'm going to predict each and every fixture of the remaining top 5 teams. The ones in green are wins, red are losses and blue are draws.

These are my predictions for the fixtures run-in till the end of the season and it seems like it could be a very exciting battle for top 4, with all the remaining top 5 teams being really close.

Think the final league table will look something like:

2. Man City - 78
3. Tottenham - 75
4. Liverpool - 74
5. Arsenal - 73
6. Man Utd - 71

City is in very good form now and they tend to finish the season strongly so I reckon they will do well to beat enough teams and get close to 80 points. Finish second behind Chelsea with 78 points.

Tottenham is very solid and consistent against the smaller teams this season, they are still unbeaten at home and only lost 3 times so far. I think their unbeaten home run will get broken by Arsenal. They will drop the odd points somewhere but still finish in 3rd with 75 points.

Liverpool has the easiest run-in among the top 5 and in spite of their poor record against the smaller teams, their great record against the top 6 will help them to get top 4. Even if I look at the worst case scenario, I can only see them losing 1 and drop the odd points here and there with draws but they should have pick up enough points to finish 4th with 74 points.

This could be the season Arsenal doesn't get their precious top 4. Every season, after Arsenal gets humiliated in the first leg in their first knock-out round in the Champions League, they would get a strong reaction in the second leg and bow out heroically, winning almost all of their remaining games with title-winning form and make a late surge for top 4 but Arsene Wenger seems to have lost the dressing room and we all know what happens when your players don't play for you anymore.

As for us, I think we will finish the season unbeaten but drop silly points here and there, and finish level on points with Arsenal but lose out on goal difference.

Edit: Our game in hand is away to Southampton, so gonna predict a draw for that. We will finish with 71 points.

What do you guys think?

Muller, our game in hand is away to Southampton, not Leicester. I can't see us winning that.

Pressure is on to win those games now though which we haven't dealt with well tbh.

If so, it's massive news and a huge blow for spurs.

Didn't Spurs cope well when he wasn't around earlier in the season? I don't think it will affect them that much. Their team is pretty well-rounded and they have players like Son and Deli Ali who can step up to score.

Spurs ppg doesn't change that much without Kane - down from 1.9 to 1.8. They will miss him but I think they have enough to still make top 4 especially considering their remaining fixtures.

Earlier in the season they had no cutting edge. They drew a lot of games without him
A Spurs side who will tire towards the end of the season needs a cutting edge. Toiling for a goal takes a lot out of sides, especially when against lower sides who are battling for survival.
The problem here is the lack of options up front for them. Another injury or Eriksen / Delle dropping a level and they are in severe trouble

Earlier in the season we weren't playing well full stop, with or without Kane.

We'll finish the season undefeated (while we play 4 of the top 5 teams)? That's very unlikely imo.

You weren't losing though, no coincidence you weren't playing well without him and started winning when he started scoring.
Harry Kane would have turned a few of those draws into wins now.
I just had a look at your fixtures, away to a battling and improving Swansea and Hull, away to West Ham and Burnley, playing Southampton, United and Arsenal.
Those fixtures aren't easy even with Kane in the side.
