Top 4 race 2016/17

It will be, but Spurs will have two games against top six still remaining and I believe four away games, including places like Palace and Leicester.
Yeah. Today's the last "easy" game left for Spurs. The fixtures looks awful. Can't see Chelsea losing the title.

Big result for us today, reckon if United don't win tomorrow we can even afford to lose the Derby and still make top 4

Liverpool:
West Brom away
Palace at home
Watford away
Southampton at home
West Ham away
Boro at home

United:
Chelsea at home
Burnley away
City away
Swansea at home
Arsenal away
Spurs away
Southampton away
Palace at home

City:
United at home
Boro away
Palace at home
Leicester at home
West Brom at home
Watford away

If we somehow were to creep into the top 4 we should most certainly get all of Liverpool's moral/hypothetical cups.

Not really, United have so many games in hand. If the lose tomorrow its 7 points with United having a game in hand. Were United to win the derby thats 4 points with a game in hand. So the gap could be a point when things even out.

Win the derby and go 10 points clear (provided Chelsea beat United too) and then we can relax. We do though have 5 fixtures we should win so we should be taking 15 points between now and the end.

Looking at how close Spurs are to Chelsea now and it just highlights how bad a second half to the PL season we've had, this was at the half way stage of the season

2-3 months ago I predicted City, Spurs, Chelsea and United will be in top 4. But probably United would struggle to make it now.

The reason is that from mid January to now, which has been 3 months without any match against top 6, I hoped they would be in top 4 and be above 5th place by a fine margin before their heading to final 6 rounds (against City, Arsenal, Tottenham - all away matches), but they couldn't.

Now, City probably doesn't care if they lose to United at home, so does Tottenham as they are going to be in top 4 anyway. The battle is between Liverpool, United and Arsenal.

We could still qualify if common sense prevails and Tottenham are deducted points for their offensive goal celebrations.

Just two points behind Spurs. Their results since then:

Ours:

Points per club since game 25 (ordered by points per game):
Tottenham Hotspur - 21 (7W/3 points per game)
Chelsea - 15 (5W 1L/2.5 PPG)
Liverpool - 14 (W4 D2 L1/2 PPG)
Everton - 16 (W5 D1 L2/2 PPG)
Manchester United - 9 (W2 D3/1.8 PPG)
Man City - 12 (3W 3D 1L/1.7 PPG)
Arsenal - 4 (W1 D1 L3/0.8 PPG)

From the top 7 only Arsenal have done considerably worse. We've still got tough fixtures to come as well.

Guess Spurs fans will be hoping we can win tomorrow.

4 points with six games to go would be squeaky bum time for Chelsea.

100%. If they lose tomorrow and then we knock them out on the weekend.....

What's more likely tbh is that they'll get a draw tomorrow and they'll beat us in the semi. Besides, our fixtures after that are not easy and we'd still need a basically flawless run of form.

But its interesting and nice to hope anyway.

On a side note, when are these games in hand being played? It is bothering me seeing between 30 to 33 games played for the top 7. Makes it difficult to guage how everyone is actually doing.

Screw Spurs and their agenda.

With City winning today and essentially securing 3rd, 4th place is basically between us and Liverpool.

Must win for us from that point of view.

I am tired of analysing where this club ha gone wrong. :(

I'll be surprised if we win tomorrow. We've never won away to a Pulis team in the PL - it's something like 5 draws and 3 defeats, which is a shockingly bad record. If they start launching high balls into the box I can't see us holding out for 90 mins.

I fancy two draws tomorrow and then an Arsenal win on Monday and its back to the drawing board on predicting who will get the last top 4 place.

Think we'd be fine with an injury free draw today.

Liverpool are clear favourites for the 4th spot right now. Only if you guys screw up massively from here on that us and Arsenal have got a chance.

I just realised we're in the Europa League next season no matter where we finish in the league. Makes winning the thing even more important.

How does that work?

Maybe it's just because I'm a fan but I still think we'll finish top four. Most likely blinded by my love for the club, I still say we can put a run together from now to the end of the season and pinch fourth from Liverpool.

Just wondering if we were knocked out of the EL and finished a disastrous 7th in the Prem. Would we then play Europa next season?

As great as that win was with City, Arsenal and Spurs (all away) to come, mixed with EL priorities, top 4 is still a distant goal.
