Top 4 race 2016/17

Would you like to add our other injuries to those of Mane before quoting stats ? Though not.

I didn't quote stats to begin with, I asked you the question.

And it's certainly a bit weird to ask a me a question and reply "thought not" as I'm not entirely sure how I was supposed to reply whilst you were actually writing out that post?

Which is clear to see in this thread since the game in fairness

 So true.

If Liverpool fans weren't bitter, they wouldn't be a Liverpool fan.

It's amazed me for nigh on two decades how these Pool fans aren't ashamed to hang their bitterness out there for everybody to laugh at.

@Rafateria is trying too hard. Don't argue with him, let him be. He thinks he knows better than Jose. He thinks he knows United better than most of the fans here. Still butt-hurt over the slippy game where their captain fecked their one chance to win the PL for a long time. Now they need to wait years before winning the PL, we can understand the frustration.

I have no idea why Barney was banned and this guy is still running around posting absolute tripe. Barney was twice the poster.

Don't you all do the same with us Liverpool fans? :P
No, they are literally all deluded. I haven't come across one that hasn't used the term "next year is our year".

This thread took a very odd turn.

Agree with @Rafateria that managers have largely feck all influence once the game starts, save for a few messages he might pass on to players throughout the course of the 90. I found it weird that the pundits made a point of noting Conte's demeanor during our game as if that might somehow feed into the players. That's surely a nonsense and is only worthy of note because Conte's usually so animated and instead was ruminating over the fact he'd been tactically outsmarted.

I did use to get a bit annoyed with LvG's inactivity on the touchline though I must admit. Once it became a thing I'd always notice every game. Which is why it was so great when he flung himself to the floor against Arsenal. Was great fun and everyone in the stadium loved it.

Important day today, but we just need to make sure we do our job. I expect City to beat Middlesbrough and that'll put pressure on Liverpool tomorrow (though I still expect them to win too). With big games coming up, ensuring we take maximum points today is of key importance. Hopefully Spurs do the business on Arsenal later to knock their confidence.

That's absolutely wrong.

Managers plan for every possible scenario...and insert this firmly in the heads of their players.

It's plainly delusional to think once a game kicks off that managers don't mater. Managers are practcically all that matters, from what they worked on all week. Mouirnho is even famous for guessing all week what decisions oposition managers will take at certain times of games, depending on the scorline at any given time. Players are pawns, football is manager v manager at the highest level. Has been for many years.

The Conte scenario you speak of above was mentioned, correctly, by any observer of that game becuase it was the unusual scenario of a manager of a top club being so outsmarted that he couldn't have an impact on the game. He knew it, his players knew it, we knew it watching on and pundits knew it. This is very unusual. OF COURSE managers have massive influence over every aspect of the 90-minutes...not with what they say during the 90-minutes but with the plans they concocted all week for all possibilities.

How about turning a "manager's influence on the game from the sidelines" into a new thread, instead of clogging up this one?

I had this game, Swansea, as the end of your top four hopes. Seems like Swansea don't give a shit despite the refs helping Utd a bit. The Arsenal and Spurs games don't matter now.

Swansea have played alright but Rashord cheated. Harsh on them but the dive could end up getting these lot top 4 place.

If we beat Spurs i think we would finish in the top 4.
That's what I think so too and I won't even be surprised if you do but I think its going to be extremely difficult as they are still unbeaten at home and you have a terrible record against the top teams this season. Saying that, so does Spurs.

Based off today, we don't really have a chance vs Spurs anyway.

Even if United turn it around against Swansea... How does that render games against Arsenal and Spurs insignificant?

The league has shown that the situation can be changed dramatically from gameweek to gameweek.

Because we can't win and if you don't give us a buffer which we created since November than its as good as yours.

I don't think you genuinely believe that. Even though we had the 'advantage' on the board, Liverpool should be looking favorably at their remaining fixtures. It was always going to be likely that we'll drop points against at least one of Spurs and Arsenal. Again it's far too unpredictable to call. It changes game by game just like that.

I'd rather have your fixture list and you'd rather have ours. Our one is making me shit bricks.

Reserve squads for the rest of the season. Complete focus on Europa needed.

That result is good news for City and Liverpool fans. Now we'll have (or should have) our attention purely on the Europa route and Arsenal are too far behind.

Piss poor performance. Can't pass can't shoot. Absolutely dire!

Well even though the result is now a draw- I still don't think you'll drop enough points to allow us to effectively lose two games on the trot, had we beat Swansea. Ultimately that's irrelevant now, and we are relying on Tottenham and Watford wins.

We are done here.
Arsenal have two games in hand and will move ahead of us if they win those. We fecked up our chance. Too many injuries and faliure to add to our squad has done us. Europa now should be where we concentrate. Play the academy team vs spurs and arsenal.

Play the kids Mourinho for the rest of the PL games. You obviously can't do much with them after nearly a whole PL season.

Play the kids. Save the first teamers for the EL. Buy your players in the summer. Prove that it's all down to them.

Don't give a feck for the PL anymore, EL is our only realistic chance.

Play the U21's in a 9-1 formation against Arse and Spurs.

Field the reserves for the remaining league fixtures, we've got no chance. Europa League all the way now.

God we're shite going forward, do not deserve top 4. Only way is Europe now ab I can't see us win against this Spanish team without Ibra and Pogba

We should have had 38 away games this season, then a top 4 place would be secured.
