Top 4 race 2016/17

Totally agree with that post. I have seen us prioritise games before and end up with a total loss of momentum and in that cycle of self defeat. I wasn't trying to suggest the bitter pill was the solution, more the way things have panned out by luck more than anything. If we finish top four we will have been very lucky due to circumstances.

Agree on that point. I remember having a giggle at your expense when you went out of both cups in January but it was your poor league form that was the real worry for the Liverpool fans I know. Once your form picked up the cup exits were quickly forgotten and the positives of being able to focus solely on the league were mentioned.

The Watford game tonight is hugely important for the top four race after United and City fluffed their lines. Although it's precisely the type of fixture you've slipped up in this year I suspect Liverpool will shore up their position and go on to finish in the top four. I can see us throwing away more points over a tricky run-in so the Europa League is about as must-win as it gets.

We could win the next two. Get a little confident . Fanbase starts purring getting cocky again and then drop points. Its literally how it works with us.
:D Apart from joke, think you are gonna beat Watford at least. They are piss poor (in fact we lost against them  )

Why is everyone predicting we'll lose to Tottenham away? I can imagine us shutting up shop again, even if there's nothing in it for us there. A draw looks the more probable result.

We'll need 2 buses parked together in front of the goal to not concede in WHL.

Top 4 will stay as it is. Best thing we can do is rest our first XI for league games and put everything in to the EL.

Think that's it pretty much wrapped up now. Based on the remaining fixtures, can't see too much changing in the top 4.

Give the kids game time, this is pretty much done. Writing was on the wall for a long while, way to many points dropped and it was bound to bite us where it hurts.

Opinions change like the wind.

If anyone had the time to follow and read this thread over the last few weeks you'd see something like this

"All but done now"
"Yup that's the top four settled"

"Back on!"
"It's really not that bad! We can do this"
"Liverpool are dodgy as hell, they'll drop more points"

"Well that's that then."
"All but done now"

We looks boring AF today, and we didn't play like we had anything left to play for.
Southampton will be a huge test.

This is far from done.

We've always needed to be ahead of City/Liverpool going into the Arsenal and Spurs away games, Sunday's game killed any chance we had.

2 wins from their remaining 3 games will be enough for Liverpool. We're not going to win all 4 of ours, we really blew it against Swansea.

Utd got overrun at City, the Spurs-Arse game yesterday was better quality again

it's illogical to me to be thinking we can get 4-6 pts at Emirates & WHL vs. motivated opposition with our injuries & Europa commitments

we is surely done for, :( League-wise

Well it's last season all over again. Us and City fighting for the 4th position. Dega Vu.

Really 1 of the next 2. Their last match is home to Boro, who will be relegated before then. That's an easy 3 points.

Unless the SF tie is won/lost in the first leg, I don't see how we would not shift focus entirely to the 2nd leg and rest whoever we can vs Arsenal. In which case it is likely we drop points again.

Who would have thought that would be the case with Jose and Pep battling it out in Manchester.
Manchester has been the limp dick of football this season.

You can't draw that many games and expect top 4, it's not like City and Spurs are amazing either. If you can't put the lesser teams away at Old Trafford then forget about it. The eggs are truly in the EL basket now. I'm not sure we deserve CL football next year to be honest.

Hell yes. If you told me in August the season will end with Jose and Pep fighting for 4th and 5th positions I would have said you're mental.:lol:

It's done, United are not getting maximum points from Arsenal, Spurs and Palace.
Says who? Arsenal are a shambles and Palace gave up last week.
Im not saying we'll do it but we're a point behind if we win our game in hand. People have been saying it's over since March yet here we are.

Looking like we were spot on?

How? Apparently we've had no room to manoeuvre for months now yet feck up after feck up and we're still right in the middle of it.
Why is everybody above us suddenly going to start winning now?

Your correct.

This is not done. Our next 2 games (City) are home but its Palace and Leicester, two teams who will bombard us and we're likely to drop points in one of them even at home. We're terrible against leicester.
