No complaints from me, think it will 4-5-1 to start though with Roon wide left & Giggs Fletch getting forward from the middle.

Sticking with my prediction of 4-1 Utd :devil:
 
I sincerely doubt that Sir Alex would have gone with this lineup if his intentions were to play a three man midfield.

I'd prefer fabio who is a more natural full back tbh.
 
The only reason I can think Giggs is playing instead of Anderson, is to provide some width. Which leads me to believe we are likely to see 4-4-2, with Giggs wide left.

Not so much who can cover what, but particularly how the substitutions impact on the game.

Say Nani or indeed Giggs had to go off, and Hernandez or Anderson come on ... could the midfield reorganise in what may be a fast pace game? As for the fullbacks, you could only assume Evans is the first choice replacement on both flanks, you'd probably have to bring on Smalling in the rare situation that two fullbacks need replacing.

I'm probably more worried about the wings because it's non-direct. Doesn't say much about Obertan and Bébé does it?

That's fair enough, but as Spurs have Crouch (starting rather than on the bench), who'll happily play on Evra or Rafa, having a couple of taller players who are more than capable of playing good football is possibly a reason to have them two on the bench. Also, whilst nothing has been said we've perhaps have to watch Rio, and so having them two on the bench might be the wiser option today.

I reckon something along the lines of Smalling and Fabio would have been a better choice but I am quite delighted with that team.

Evra and Rafa are first choice full backs, we start off with them, and can change if we have to. Keep the back four stable as much as we can from here on in, it's easier to change if we are struggling.
 
Good point about the aerial threat posed by crouch. We will have to mop up most of the second balls in and around the box especially since bale/modric and vdv can all strike a decent shot from range.

This is one of those games where i would have personally packed the midfield especially since Palacios has been poor this season and lennon/bale/modric/vdv arent known for their defensive work. A draw would be a good result hopefully we'll get all three though.

From a height perspective, I have to agree somewhat ... Spurs' vulnerability has been set pieces because of their small centre-back pairing, United's small players are all confined to wide areas were they are not as vital. Though bringing on a Smalling or Evans late on might add something in the corner shake up.

I disagree though in the assumption it would reduce stability to have one of them out there, any reduction in stability would be down to the opposition. If say Smalling were put out and to do a job on Crouch it would perhaps increase stability, not reduce it.

The beauty of this line up is that it could be changed instantly any time back and forth to 1 or 2 upfront
 
Carrick and Fletcher means United will struggle to create anything hopefully we only give up a few goals in the first half
 
If the game gets an early goal, I think we could be in for a real treat. Us to win 2-3.

Why do they want to move away from White Hart Lane? It's a good stadium.

Or if United get an early goal from a Spurs mistake, park the bus and hit them again on the counter attack ... that'll do too.
